But it is most unfortunate that the so called Hindutvawadis in RSS, VHP or the overseas Friends of BJP or the most efficient External Affair Minister of India, Mrs Sushma Swaraj, no body took the matter seriously being an attack on Hindu Shiva Temple in Sri Lanka by Christian perpetrators. Though VHP Central Committee has issued a condemnation letter to maintain the formalities.

The fanatic Christian Mob uprooted the temple arch decoration at Thiruketheechcharam Shiva Temple in Mannar, Sri Lanka without any interference of police and administration existed in the area there.  It was a great gesture of the ‘Preachers of Love’ and ‘Believers in Jesus’ establishing a thread of connivance with the local political, police and administrative counterparts.

It was expected that more than 2,00,000 Hindu devotees would visit the Mahashivratri festivities on 3, 4 and 5 March 2019 at  Thiruketheechcharam  Siva temple in Mannar, Sri Lanka. In attempt to scare Hindus, unruly mob of around 100 Catholic Christians, led by so-called priest Mr. Marcus from nearby coastal village of Vankalai, attacked and destroyed the arch decorating the temple frontage at 14.00 hours on 3rd March 2019.

The unruly unholy mob were all in their prime of their youth. There were men and women. Most of them were identifiable. They threatened the Hindu volunteers repairing the arch to re-paint. They man-handled those who resisted.

According to (in his personal social page) Mr Mano Ganeshan, Minister of National Integration, Official languages, Social progress, and Hindu Religious affairs and local news paper ‘Athavan News’,  the issue is settled and a court had given the order to rebuild the welcome gate+.

Shiva Ling broken by perpetrators.

Not only that,  on 28th of February this year, the Shiva Ling Deity that was kept near the food hall of Thiruketheechcharam temple, had been broken into two pieces. According to local news media, this situation had happened while 24 hr Police and Army protection in that area.

In April 2017, another Hindu temple was destroyed and households attacked in Mannar by Christian hooligans to Christianize the area.

Massive Hindu Protest in Mannar

A massive dharmic protest was held on 8th March, 2019 at Mannar Vavuniya and Yazhpanam districts of Sri Lanka organised by Sivasenai, Sri Lanka. The protest was against the attacks by Christians on Shiva temple situated in Mannar district.

These demands were made in the protest:

1. Respect the Shaive sect, Shaiva people and the Shaiva culture in Sri Lanka

2. Stop with immediate effect the attacks, encroachments of Catholic Christian missionaries done continuously against the Shaivaite religion.

3. Stop all Christian conversion activities.

4. Remove and stop all encroachments, attacks of other religions on Shaivaite holy places.

5. Those who win the election by getting the Shaivaite votes should stop working against their interests.

6. All the encroachments done so far on Shaivaite holy places should be removed and due compensation should be given.

7. On 3.3.2019 at the holy pilgrimage place of Thiruketheeswaram the Christian ruffians under the leadership of Catholic father Marks attacked and destroyed the welcome arch of the temple. Rs. 1 crore is demanded as compensation to reconstruct the arch.

“We will not resort to violence. We will function well within the law. We will respect the Courts of Justice. We will follow only the dharmic way of protest. Dharmic protest will surely win, ” said Hindu protesters

VHP International Condemns

On 4th March Swami Vigyananand, the Joint Secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad condemned the cowardly attack on Hindu Shiva Temple by aggressive Christian gang on 3rd  March in Mannar.

The statement says, “Vishva Hindu Parishad again condemns these acts of provocation and aggression on the innocent and unsspecting devotees and urges the esteemed Government of Sri Lanka to take appropriate action against the perpetrators by instituting criminal proceedings.”

But, nobody in the Home or Hind Religious Departments in Sri Lanka was ready to convey the ‘action taken report’, when asked.

However, eminent Hindu Interlocutor and Hindu Existence Website Editor, Upananda Brahmachari sent all the reports and documents on ‘Mannar Shiva Temple Attack’ to both Sri Lankan and Indian External Affairs Ministry to take cognizance properly.

Hindus are frequently attacked in Islamic Pakistan and Bangladesh in regular fashion. Now its a fresh chapter of attack on Tamil Hindus after they were brutally tortured, killed, evicted and put them under a genocide^{[1] [2] [3]} in the name of controlling LTTE. And we are sleeping here in Peace, beside Churches!!
