For insulting Hinduism, controversial Muslim preacher and Zakir Naik associate, Muhammad Zamri Vinoth arrested in Perlis.

Special Correspondent | HENB | Petaling Jaya (Malaysia) | April 28, 2019::  Most controversial Muslim preacher Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu, who has frequently supported Indian preacher Zakir Naik and also believed to be close associate of Zakir Naik was arrested by police today.

This followed several police reports lodged against him for allegedly insulting Hinduism.

Perlis police chief Noor Mushar Mohd said Zamri, 35, was arrested by the Serious Crimes Investigation Unit (D9) in front of a restaurant in Arau at 2.30am.

Zamri is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for allegedly disrupting harmony and uttering offensive words during a religious lecture.

Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid also said the police had received 13 reports against the man since Tuesday (April 23).

“According to the complainants, the man, via a 70-second video clip posted on social media, had uttered blasphemous statements against Hinduism that can cause disharmony and it is also against the law,” he said.

The reports lodged against the suspect included those under Section 323 of the Penal Code, Section 408 of the Penal Code and Section 376 of the same code.

Over the past few days, several NGOs and individuals have lodged police reports against Zamri for allegedly insulting Hinduism.

Zamri is also the president of Angkatan Skuad Mubaligh Malaysia.

   Alas, such courage Indian state could gather to prevent more such “preachers” from spreading hatred.
