Nirab Nibir Deka | HENB | Guwahati | April 14, 2022:: After, Karnataka and Maharashtra, the wind of anti-Mosque loudspeaker movement now intensifies the weather in North East part of India, specially in Assam.

Assam Hindutva leader and President of Kutumba Surakshya Mission, Satya Ranjan Borah has demanded the removal of loudspeakers from mosques. Speaking exclusively to HENB on March 13, Borah stated that “Mosque loudspeakers should be banned. Forget decibel levels, I have been telling since the last 3 years, that loudspeakers should be banned. The contents of Azan is bullying upon other faiths and mosques loudspeakers have the potency of security threats to others.”

Borah claimed that loudspeakers are not a part of the Islamic faith. “In the Dhemaji district of Assam, there are fewer or almost no loudspeakers, are the Muslims of that areas any less than others. Were there loudspeakers 1400 years ago, but the use of Mosque loudspeakers are increasing day by day. Is Allah is also getting hard of hearing day by day due to his old age” questioned Satya Ranjan Borah.

He further added that the usage of loudspeakers in the early morning has caused hindrances to people. “Someone is meditating, kids are studying, or think about a pregnant woman, an elderly person or a patient… it affects them at the early morning if the loudspeakers are not stopped,” added Borah. The President of Kutumba Surakshya Mission had earlier been on the news for making his straight comments.

Borah also demanded, ‘no Mosque in Hindu areas anymore’.

The comments of Borah have come at a time when the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray reiterated his call for loudspeakers in mosques to be shut down till May 3. Otherwise, he warned the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government that MNS workers would play the Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques.

Earlier, the pro-Islamic- All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) criticised the move by the Karnataka police to set limits on the usage of loudspeakers in mosques under permissible decibel levels. The General Secretary and Chief Spokesperson of AIUDF Aminul Islam has called the move “an attack on the Muslim community.”

But the meaning of Azan itself a communal attack on others if the meaning of it divulges.

The call of Islamic prayer (Azan-Adhan) is given from mosques as follows:

Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!

Hayya ‘ala-s-Salah. Hayya ‘ala-s-Salah.

*Hurry to the prayer. Hurry to the prayer.* (MARCH FAST TO THE UNITY IN THE NAME OF PRAYER).

Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah. Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah.

*Hurry to salvation/Success. Hurry to salvation/Success.* (WE HAVE TO ACHIEVE THE SUCCESS OF ISLAM THROUGH JIHAD).

Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! La ilaha illa Allah.

*God is Great! God is Great! There is no god except the One God.* (MEANS THERE IS NOBODY ELSE ALLAH TO WORSHIP).

Such a fanatic thinking against others is preached through Azan-Adhan five times a day which is extremely violating the rights of other’s faith and the concept of plurality and liberty.

Mosque loudspeakers must be banned everywhere.
