WB: ‘Not to wear Burqa in summer days’ advice by a teacher led to a communal clash in a School. 

Muslims attacked a School in Mandir Bazar (WB) and indulged in communal clashes as a Hindu school teacher advised not to wear Hijab or Burqa in Summer days.  

Deviprasad Roy | HENB | Mandir Bazar | April 19, 2024:: An advice of a teacher ‘not to wear Hijab and Burqa in summer days’ caused a big brawl in the southern part of West Bengal as the Muslims came to vandalise a school unitedly after Friday prayer.

A communal situation was created at Chaitanyapur Desh Gaurav School in Chandpur-Chaitanyapur area under Mandirbazar Police Station of South 24 Parganas of West Bengal on April 19.

Some of the Muslim schoolgirls used to wear hijab in this continuous hot summer. Seeing all these, a Hindu teacher of that school advised them to avoid Hijab for some days to feel at ease. But, the teacher could not understand the consequence of his liberal advice.

One of the Muslim girls went home and told that to the parents. It didn’t take long for the matter to air the fire. Some of the Muslim community put the matter in the social media and coloured it as  humiliation of Islam and defamation of the Prophet of Islam who mandated burqa for Muslim women. As the social media post went viral and urged all Muslims to protest against the concerned teacher and school authority, Muslims from nearby areas started marching towards the school after Jumma Namaz (Friday Prayer).  Around noon, a group of them brought many Muslim miscreants from outside and made a battlefield in the school. Teachers were abused and  attacked with a demand to hand over the teacher who advised not to wear ‘Burqa in summer days’. There is a lot of vandalism in school classrooms.

Everyone from the school teachers to the students was put in fear and insecurity. Outsider Muslims also tried to attack Hindu houses and shops in the area with iron rods, sticks and weapons.

Being in a Hindu area, the locals initially tried to resist the attack on the school. There was a brawl between the two communities. Several people from both sides were also injured. Police reached the spot later to maintain peace to avoid further law and order situation.

Unless the local Hindus mainly from Paundra Kashtriya and Bagrya Kashtriya community  did not make a  firewall to protect the school from the attack of Jihadi Muslim Mob, the situation could have worsened. The Hindus neutralised the rabid Muslims from attacking a Hindu temple just at the side of the school.

No arrest of anybody or any FIR from any side has been confirmed by the police, as reported.
