Hindu OBC Front Holds Conference to Mark 233rd Birth Anniversary of Rani Rashmoni.

Sankirtan Das | HENB | Kolkata | Sept 28, 2026::  The Hindu OBC Front organised a conference at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata on September 28, 2026, to commemorate the 233rd birth anniversary of Lokmata Rani Rashmoni, with an appeal for the establishment of a grand Rani Rashmoni Dham in West Bengal.

Sanatan Dharma preacher and Hindutva proponent Upananda Brahmachari, veteran OBC movement leader Shanti Ranjan Samanta, Sudipta Guha and several other distinguished personalities attended the programme. The participants paid floral tributes to Bharat Mata and Lokmata Rani Rashmoni and inaugurated the event by lighting ceremonial lamps.

Siddhananda Purkait, chief adviser to the Hindu OBC Front, called for building a united Hindu society inspired by the life and contributions of Rani Rashmoni. He urged West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to facilitate the establishment of a grand Rani Rashmoni Dham, comprising a temple along with a museum, student hostel, research centre and career counselling centre.

Upananda Brahmachari said that many ideas being discussed today, including the concept of a welfare-oriented state and women’s empowerment, had already been demonstrated through Rani Rashmoni’s life and work nearly two centuries ago. He said that although attempts had been made to create divisions within Hindu society after Independence, the Hindu OBC Front had begun working towards greater Hindu unity.

Brahmachari called for extending the initiative beyond West Bengal to other parts of the country under an umbrella of Hindu Bahujan Samaj. He also stressed the need for a massive movement among OBC communities against what he described as divisive interpretations associated with the Periyar school of thought and the Aryan-Dravidian conflict, which, he said, had contributed to divisions within Hindu society.

MLA Subrata Kabiraj assured the gathering that he would discuss the demand for establishing a ‘Rani Rashmoni Dham’ with the government. Prasun Maitra, founder of Atmadip and an advocate, called upon members of the OBC community to remain prepared for further organised efforts to secure their lawful rights. He also stressed the need for greater awareness and unity within Hindu society on issues concerning OBC reservations and related legal matters.

BJP leader and advocate Debjit Sarkar said that members of the Hindu OBC community in West Bengal had made significant contributions to education, industry, business and other fields. Referring to personalities such as scientist Mani Bhaumik, Alamohan Das and Rani Rashmoni, he said the Hindu OBC community had faced deprivation for a long period. He expressed hope that the community would receive justice from the present governments both in West Bengal and at the Centre.

A replica of the proposed Rani Rashmoni Dham was presented in a glass box to MLA Subrata Kabiraj, with the appeal that the project be materialised by the present BJP government in West Bengal. Both Subrata Kabiraj and Debjit Sarkar assured the organisers that they would hand over the replica to the appropriate government authorities through the proper channel so that the proposal could move towards successful implementation.

MLA Subrata Kabiraj, advocate Debjit Sarkar, Sudipta Guha, Shubhendu Sarkar, Aniket Joardar, advocate Tapan Kanti Mandal, advocate Nihar Ranjan Mondal, Saurav Mondal and several other distinguished personalities were present at the programme.

A special presentation of Vande Mataram by the Diamond Harbour-based cultural group ‘Sur O Chhand’ added to the appeal of the event. It was followed by a dance-drama depicting the life and contributions of Rani Rashmoni.

The packed audience at Rabindra Sadan also reflected the growing organisational presence of the Hindu OBC Front in West Bengal. The organisers said that the Front had already established units in all districts and blocks across the state, signalling its expanding organisational network among Hindu OBC communities.

Rani Rashmoni Jayanti Observed at Halishahar and Other places

The Rani Rashmoni birth anniversary celebrations continued on September 29, 2026, with dignitaries of the Hindu OBC Front and representatives of several OBC community-based organisations gathering at Char Nandanbati near Halishahar to commemorate Lokmata Rani Rashmoni Devi with joy and reverence.

The anniversary was also observed at Jaganmata Ramakrishna Sevashram Sangha, located near Rani Rashmoni Ghat on the banks of the Ganges in the Halishahar area. The programme was organised under the initiative and management of the Hindu OBC Front. Among those present were the head of the Ashram, Swami Kalikrishnananda Maharaj; Hindu OBC Front Chief Adviser Siddhananda Purkait; Treasurer Chandrashekhar Das; Tapas Kumar Adak; Dr Gopal Samanta, representing the Diamond Harbour Chashi Kaibarta community; and several other members and community representatives.

The morning programme featured recitation from the Bhagavad Gita, devotional songs and discussions highlighting the life, social contributions and legacy of Rani Rashmoni. The programme concluded with the distribution of Prasad among all those present.

Tributes were also paid at the statue of Rani Rashmoni at Bag More in Halishahar. Similar commemorative programmes were organised at the statues of Rani Rashmoni at Trikon Park in Diamond Harbour and Harin Danga, further marking the occasion across different parts of West Bengal.

The series of programmes, spanning Kolkata, Halishahar and Diamond Harbour, brought together members of the Hindu OBC Front and various OBC community organisations in remembrance of Rani Rashmoni’s enduring legacy and her contributions to society, Sanatan Dharma and the cultural heritage of Bengal.
