Dharma Samsad 2013

Dharma Sansad at Kumbh :

Narendra Modi is projected as Prime Minister of Bharat and Mascot of Hindutva : Resolutions about Shri Ram Janmabhomi, Save Cow, Save Ganga, Muslim Appeasement through laveling Hindu Terrorism and Women Security have been passed.

Prayag Raj (Allahabad) | 7th Feb 2013 | Hindu Existence Correspondent :: Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Dharma Sansad at Maha Kumbh, 2013 has demanded that Narendra Modi be declared as BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate as a mascot of Hindutva to proceed this Nation as a Hindu Rashtra.

Out on an repercussion about rampant minority appeasements (both Muslims and Christians in a shield of ‘Secularism’)  and for the security threat to the majority people by Islamic and other subversive groups, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh  and VHP aligned religious groups  are ready to promote Narendra Modi  as the Prime Ministerial candidate in  2014 Lok Sabha (Parliament) election.

.”To a query on whether projecting Narendra Modi as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate came up during his meeting the Sangh Parivar leaders, Singh quipped, “A decision on this matter can be taken only by the party parliamentary board.”

Rajnath said, “I have come here for a spiritual experience and not to hold any political discussions.”The poster boy of Hindutva – Narendra Modi -  will visit  Kumbh on February 12th.

VHP leader Ashok Singhal has told that the excitement around Modi for PM can be equated to the excitement that surrounded Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as he became PM for the first time.

“When the first election took place, the masses wanted Nehru to be PM. After that something like that has never happened. But what I’m seeing now is that masses are nominating Modi to be PM. Something like this has never happened since Nehru,” Singhal said.

Reaffirming RSS commitment to Ram temple ,Rashtriya Swayamsevek Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said Ram Mandir is not merely a demand for temple but it is linked to national pride.

“Why do we have to plead for a Ram Mandir at Ram Janambhoomi  in Ayodhya ? Because it’s an issue involving a temple? This is for re-establishing Indian identity,” he said. Mr Bhagwat will attend a gathering of about two lakh priests or sants (saints)  today, to brief them on next steps.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat backed VHP’s resolution for building a Ram temple in Ayodhya, saying its construction is like establishing the “Indian identity”.

“I have said that construction of the temple is like a movement to establish the country’s self identity. It is an identity of our country and we have to establish it,” he saidspeaking to reporters at the Kumbh Mela here.

While exchanging his views with the reporters, RSS Chief showed a clear inclination to Narendra Modi as the next projection for a Real Hindu Prime Minister of Bharat (India) and described ‘Modi is my friend’, Bhagawat skipped the matter for BJP for a final touch.

The Dhrama Sansad and the Santa Sammelan in Prayagraj (Allahabad) is being held at Maha Kumbha under the aegis of  Vishwa Hindu Parisad which have been passed five resolutions on Shri Ram Janmabhomi, Save Cow, Save Ganga, Muslim Appeasement through laveling Hindu Terrorism and Women Security as per agenda.

Such new wave Hindutva from  Prayag Kumbh in the sphere of election politics in Bharat is ready to flood the ignorant Hindu mass, which can speed up the reestablishment of a Hindu Rashtra in Bharat with a full protection of Go (Cow Progeny) – Ganga (Mother source of Indian rivers) – Gayatri (Power and Symbol of Vedic Heritage) and the construction of Sri Ram Janma Bhoomi Temple at Ayodhya. The self reliance of Hindutva with Swadeshi economy discarding all corruptions are obviously the tools of Hindu Empowerment in Bharat  as endorsed by various Hindu saints and organisations present in the Kumba Mela which is the biggest religious congregation in the world.

In other Hindu organisations and forums like Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Sanatan Sanstha, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Patanjai Yog Peeth, Art of Living and Hindu Existence which are also present in the Kumbh Mela right now. These organisations  have also surfaced and propagated about the various issues of Hindutva like Temple Property Accusation by Govt., Govt Conspiracy to declare Hindu Rituals as superstitions (Andha Shraddha Bill), threat of Love Jihad, Islamic infiltration from neighboring Muslim states,  Christian Conversion, Jihadi and Anti-Indian Activism in Mosques and Islamic Institutions, Targeted Communal Violence Bill,  Returning Black Money from foreign Banks, End of Corruption,  revival of Bharatiya Agronomy, infusing Dharmik Siksha in Education system and other matters related to make a strong Hindu Rashtra (Nation-State) in Bharat.

Jayatu Jayatu Hindu Rashtram!

Swami Vivekananda 150th birth anniversary celebration at Chicago.

By J.V. Lakshmana Rao | Chicago India Tribune :: Outside India, Chicago occupies an important place in the life and work of Swami Vivekananda, the great Hindu monk. It was here that he got international recognition for himself, for India’s Vedanta and Vedic spirituality and for Hinduism with his maiden powerful “Sisters and Brothers of America” speech at the World’s Parliament of Religions on that historic day – September 11, 1893.

Chicago immortalizes Swami Vivekananda with many landmark monuments like Swami Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago and Sri Ramakrishna Universal Temple in Homer Glen, a larger-than-life size bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda and the Vivekananda Spiritual Center at the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago in Lemont, a bronze plaque at the  Art Institute of Chicago  commemorating his historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions.  The City of Chicago has also immortalized Swami Vivekananda by naming a long stretch of prestigious downtown marketplace Michigan Avenue. The stretch in front of the Art Institute has been named as Swami Vivekananda Way. >>Read details here.

Swami Vivekananda and the making of modern India.

By Amiya Prosad Sen | Jan 12, 2013 | TOI :: In several ways, the life and work of Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) mark the historical process of India rediscovering herself in modern times. These are also emblematic of the ways in which a tradition modernizes or creates alternative forms of modernity. Today, as the nation celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of the Swami, it is only apt that we critically reflect on his life and legacy.

Generally speaking, his contribution to India and to the larger world may be summed up in four ways. First, in modern India, it was Vivekananda who first emphasized that our everyday lives would become more meaningful only when spiritualized. It was in this spirituality that he re-discovered, as it were, India’s message to herself and to the world. For Vivekananda, this spiritual self-realization led to people more fully realizing their own potentialities. Especially in the context of a colonized society like that of 19th century India, this was tantamount to men and women locating greater self-belief in themselves.

The human soul being free, suggested Vivekananda, more than compensated for the loss of political freedom.

Second, even though the Swami rejected political praxis and West inspired social and religious reforms, his essential message was the empowerment of the people: through education, collective thought and action but above all, realizing he underlying unity of all human existence. In the Hindu tradition, ascetic detachment from the world had been criticized even before Vivekananda but it was he who first actively joined the idea of individual renunciation to committed social service. >>Read details here.

Practising Hindu Sri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India conducts Durga Puja rituals at hometown Mirati.

Posted by hinduexistence on October 23, 2012

President Mukherjee conducts rituals at hometown.

IANSMirati, Birbhum, West Bengal, October 21, 2012 :: President Pranab Mukherjee rendered priestly duties on Sunday, donning the special puja robes, and performed customary Mahasaptami rituals for the Durga puja at his ancestral home in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. Accompanied by wife Shuvra, Mukherjee arrived at his ancestral residence in Mirati village  from his sister’s house in Kirnahar early in the morning to start the Puja celebrations.

The ‘Nabapatrika snan-o-sthapan’, which is the ritual to install the idol of the deity, was performed by Mukherjee’s son Abhijit. Previously the custom was carried out by Mukherjee but this time he only walked up to the canal where the traditional ‘Kola bou’ (tender banana plant) was bathed early in the morning.

After the ‘Pran Prathistha’, or giving life to the deity, Mukherjee chanted hymns and did the Chandipath. The Chandipath was done inside an enclosure and camera persons were not allowed inside.

The Mahasaptami puja rituals concluded with an ‘arati’ which Mukherjee conducted wearing silk dhoti and a silken stole draped around his shoulders.

During the arati, he sought blessings for all. “I wish and pray to god to bless everybody,” he said.

Villagers in large number gathered to see Mukherjee perform his maiden Durga puja after becoming the president of the country.

The rituals were conducted by Mukherjee amid elaborate security arrangements.

For years, the veteran leader has been conducting the Durga Puja rituals at Mukherjee Bhawan, and has steadfastly stuck to the routine by taking out time during the festival despite his busy schedule as in charge of various constitutional and political posts.

The president was later to meet students of his alma mater, Kirnahar Shib Chandra High School, at the nearby Kirnahar town. He would inaugurate a permanent exhibition “Pranab’s School – School’s Pranab” showcasing different phases of his life.

Mukherjee touched down in his native village, some 170 km from Kolkata, on Saturday evening.

He will return to Kolkata Oct 23 evening before returning to Delhi.

Celebrate Ganesha Utsav in a Dharmik way….

Posted by hinduexistence on September 13, 2012

Celebrate Ganesha Festival as per ‘Dharma-shastra’ in an ideal manner avoiding malpractices ! – HJS

O Hindus! Don’t get misled by propagation against Dharma by the Government and anti- Dharma Organisations !

Mumbai | 12-09-2012 – Lokmanya Tilak started public celebration of Ganesha Utsav (Festival)  with the aim of unification of Hindus, protection of Nation and creating awareness amongst people towards Dharma; however, the festival presently celebrated indulging in various malpractices like installing weird idols of Deities, drinking liquor in pandals, noise pollution, teasing women, organising uncivilized programs, air pollution, costly decorations etc., keeps away from the basic purpose of celebration as also eliminates sanctity of the festival. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been running campaign for the past 9 years for creating awareness towards serving the original purpose of celebrating Ganesha Festival. This campaign has been receiving good response from Police, public Ganesha Festival Committees (committees) and Ganesha-devotees.
…………………………..
HJS has made an appeal that all committees should celebrate this festival as per Dharma-shastra avoiding malpractices so as to acquire the grace of Sri Ganesha. HJS has also appealed to all Ganesha-devotees to use idols made of clay as prescribed by Dharma and worship it with devotion. Immersion of the idol should be done in flowing water or natural water resources as per the science.
…………………………
Points in the discussion:
1. Why issue of pollution is raised only during Hindu festivals?
2. Negligible pollution.
3. Anti-Dharma ANiS and Govt. mislead people.
4. Desecration of Ganesha and unwarranted expenses in immersion of idols in artificial water tanks.

‘Gita is the winner of Life and Death!’… Russia court rejects plea to ban Gita.

Posted by hinduexistence on December 29, 2011

Siberian court throws out ‘attempt to ban’ case against Gita commentary by ‘Orthodox Church’.

VLADIMIR RADYUHIN || The HINDU || 29th Dec 2011.

GITA THE WINNER OF LIFE & DEATH. NOBODY CAN BAN THIS TRUTH.

A Siberian court has thrown out a petition that sought to ban a translation of the Bhagavad Gita as “extremist” literature.

Judge Galina Butenko of the Leninsky District Court in Tomsk ruled on Wednesday that there were no grounds for recognising Bhagavad Gita As It Isas extremist because the book was “one of the interpretations of the sacred Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita.”

The defence side said it was fully satisfied with the court verdict.

“This court decision shows that Russia is indeed becoming a democratic society,” said lawyer Alexander Shakhov, who represented at the trial the local branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

India’s Ambassador to Russia Ajai Malhotra, who had fiercely opposed the trial, welcomed the court ruling.

“The verdict of the Honourable Judge in Tomsk in dismissing the case pertaining to the Bhagavad Gita deserves to be applauded,” said the envoy. “It is very nice to see that this issue has been conclusively resolved and is now behind us.”

State prosecutors had filed the petition against Bhagavad Gita As It Is, claiming it sowed “social hatred” and called for “violence against non-believers.” The case was built on expert testimony from local professors of philosophy and philology, who said the book expresses religious hatred and discriminates on the basis of gender, race, nationality and language. Prosecutors offered no comment as they left the court after the verdict.

“We are happy that the court showed reason and competence in passing the correct verdict,” said Sergei Zuyev, vice-president of ISKCON in Russia. “It is not right for secular courts to try religions.” On the eve of Wednesday’s hearing, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna had summoned the Russian Ambassador in New Delhi, Alexander Kadakin, asking the Russian government to provide all possible help to resolve the issue.

Russia’s Human Rights Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin welcomed the court decision. “I think the Russian government must draw the right conclusions from this incident. It should fight terrorism by exposing terrorist plots and outfits, not by passing judgment on ancient sacred scriptures,” he said.

The case against the book had been filed on the basis of the 2002 Russian anti-extremism law, criticised in Russia for its very loose definition of extremist activity. Human rights activists said the law had been used to suppress legitimate criticism of authorities. The Russian Christian Orthodox Church has also been accused of using the law as a tool to fight “non-traditional religions”, such as Scientology, Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Hare Krishna movement in Russia.

In a particularly bizarre case, a court in Rostov Region two years ago accused Leo Tolstoy of extremism for his denunciation of the Russian Orthodox Church teaching as “a crafty and evil lie” and “a concoction of gross superstition and witchcraft.” Tolstoy was expelled from the Church nine years before his death for his repudiation of Jesus Christ and the Russian Church.

‘INDIA HAPPY’

New Delhi Special Correspondent writes:

“We are happy to learn that the case has been dismissed by the Hon’ble Court in Tomsk in the Russian Federation. We appreciate this sensible resolution of a sensitive issue and are glad to put this episode behind us. We also appreciate the efforts of all friends in Russia who made this outcome possible,” said the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs.

Russia court rejects plea to ban Gita

Attempt to Ban Gita aroused the feeling of Hindu Unity & Fighting Spirit to defeat the Demons against Hindus.

TNN & Agencies | Dec 29, 2011

MOSCOW/NEW DELHI: The joke goes that the Biblical saying ‘the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak’ translates in Russian as ‘the vodka is good, the meat bad’. Acknowledging that much is lost in translation, a Siberian court on Wednesday refused to ban a translated version of the Bhagwad Gita, saying prosecutors’ fears that it promoted “social discord” were unfounded.

The ministry of external affairs welcomed the verdict as a “sensible resolution of a sensitive issue”.

The case in a court in Tomsk city for the past six months was against Iskcon’s version of the Gita, but it was troubling in many parts of the world, particularly because the text, regarded as philosophical and sacred, was being branded “extremist”. Prosecutors argued that the Russian edition of ‘Bhagavad Gita As It Is’ promoted hatred towards non-believers.

The external affairs ministry welcomed the Russian court’s rejection of a plea to ban a translation of the Bhagwad Gita, a day after foreign minister S M Krishna registered India’s protest with Russian envoy Alexander Kadakin.

“This demonstrates yet again that the people of India and Russia have a deep understanding of each other’s cultures and will always reject any attempt to belittle our common civilizational values…we appreciate this sensible resolution of a sensitive issue and are glad to put this episode behind us. We also appreciate the efforts of all friends in Russia who made this outcome possible,” a statement from the ministry said. “We have won the case. The judge has rejected the petition,” Sadhu Priya Das of ISKCON, Moscow, who is also chairman of newly-formed Hindu Council of Russia, said. Russian lawyers Mikahil Fralov and Alexander Shakhov argued strongly against the petition. “This judge’s decision shows that Russia is becoming a truly democratic society,” Shakhov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.

The prosecutors had appealed to the Tomsk court to put ‘Bhagavad Gita As It Is’ on the Russian Federal List of Extremist Materials, which bans more than 1,000 texts, including Adolf Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ and books distributed by the Jehovah’s Witness and Scientology movements.

The case had stalled Parliament proceedings last week. Krishna called in the Russian ambassador Kadakin on Tuesday to register India’s protest and sought Russian government’s intervention. In a statement issued, Indian ambassador to Russia Ajai Malhotra said, “The verdict of the Honourable Judge in Tomsk in dismissing the case pertaining to Bhagavad Gita deserves to be applauded.”

An Open Letter for Total Ban on Cow Slaughter in Bharat (INDIA).

Posted by hinduexistence on October 28, 2011

To

1. The President of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

2. The Prime Minister of India, Parliament House, New Delhi.

3. The Chief Justice of India, Supreme Court, New Delhi.

Vande Gomataram.

Subject:  An appeal to ensure the complete prohibition upon Cow Slaughter abiding by the existing rules and regulation in force in different states in India along with the strict direction of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

Madam/Sir,

  1. Under the laws enforced in this land with a wide view to natural justice to all creatures, honoring the Sanatani tradition of venerated  Cow progeny even as non hittable (aghna), respecting  the Cow as Go-Mata in highest esteem in the traditional scriptures, contemplating the importance of Cow progeny in Indian agriculture, health, medicines and economics based upon its blessings upon us and obviously to be humane by resisting the animal cruelty, most of the states have been formulated its own rules and acts in favor of banning Cow Slaughter even in Bakri Idd.
  2. But, very unfortunately going to the utter contradiction to the above, in most of the cases Cow progeny are being slaughtered very cruelly in a disgusting gruesome way, sometimes with the help of local administration and politics, only to appease a minority section hurting the majority by violating all the norms so framed by the states very illegally, unreasonably and undemocratically. Though all the Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhists, Arya Samajists  and the  Sanatani and Vedic followers want a total ban on cow slaughter in Bharat, as a matter of humiliation of all Bharat Dharma, the rampant cow slaughter is going on violating all the norms in force.
  3. As an example, the state of West Bengal, now Paschimbanga had given permission in the last year to slaughter Cows in Bakri Idd under the section 12 of the WB Animal Slaughter Control Act 1950, very intrigue-fully going against the verdicts of Hon’ble Calcutta High Court and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
  4. It is a wide known fact that being aggrieved Sri Kedar Nath Brahmachari and 26 others filed a petition against the State of West Bengal and 20 others for which Hon’ble Calcutta High Court passed an order to ban cow slaughter even in Bakar Idd, vide 1982(2) Kokata, HN dated 20.8.1982.
  5. The State of West Bengal filed an appeal in Supreme Court of India against the above order of Calcutta High Court vide CA 6790/1983 – State of West Bengal & Others. –vs– Ashutosh Lahiri & Others. for which the Hon’ble Supreme Court maintained the order of Calcutta High court to prohibit the Cow slaughter in Bakri Idd  as such slaughters being unconstitutional and directed the State to take measures to stop such illegalities.
  6. Despite of that in West Bengal and other States at least 30 lakhs (5 lakhs in West Bengal) healthy, milky, cultivating and capable Cow progeny are slaughtered very unfortunately within a political nexus of Chairman, Sabhapati of Panchayet Samity and the official authorities in various departments.
  7. As aggrieved by the gross violation of the Slaughter Control Act enforced in different States time and again and felt detrimental to the majority Hindu sentiment in general, various forums filled many petitions in the designated Courts for getting justice to stop cruelty upon animal and especially mentionable the petitions filed in the Honb’le Calcutta High Court by Akhil Bharat Krishi Go Seva Sangha, Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Sri K K Singhania, Sri Abhijit Das & Enamul Haque and others.
  8. It is also mentionable that the esteemed Islamic Institution “Darul-Uloon-Deoband” also declared a Fatwa describing not mandatory to slaughter cows in Bakri Idd and requested not to do such accordingly. The extract of the Fatwa can be obtained from the news published in Dainik Jagran dt. 13.06.2006.
  9. But unfortunately, the chain of illegal slaughter is in vehemently increasing, killing healthy, capable and milking cows, while the children of the poor families are dying do to malnutrition and don’t get a single drop of cow milk in this land of “Gopal”. As per report of the UNICEF entitling “World Children Status Report-2008”, every day 5000 children are dying in India due to malnutrition.
  10. It is well established that the Cow progeny is the foundation of our agriculture, health, conventional & renewable energy source and the all round development of this Sanatani Land with a highest veneration to Go Mata and Go Palak (Cow Savers). And butchering these very calm and pretty animals hitting the religious sentiments of Hindus must attract the provisions of Section 153 and 295 of Indian Penal Court.
  11. Again, a Seven Judges Bench in the Honb’le Supreme Court of India gave the verdict in CA No.4937-4940 of 1998 being the case of State of Gujrat & Others Vs. Mirajapur Moti Kureshi Kasab & Others.  [2005/ SCCL.Com-735] propounding the importance of Oxen over the age of sixteen years for their utility in case of agricultural manure and recycling energy production from its dung and urine and consequently prohibited oxen slaughter even over 16 years of age of it.
  12. Cow slaughter is completely prohibited without any discrimination of age or condition in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattishgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Gujarat etc., but the total prohibition of Holy Cow progeny in the length and breadth of this Holy Land is still awaited within a suitable Constitutional amendment.  On the other hand the violation of existing slaughter prohibitory rules and regulations are inciting the Hindu sentiments by some communal elements finding the loop holes of the police and administrations by the way.

In this context, these are our earnest requests to the effect that:

A. Please maintain and give full protection to the Prohibitory Acts on Cow Slaughter on Bakri Idd this year on 7th November, 2011 and to extend full cooperation and security to all forums to restrain these illegal slaughters in their activities to help the police and administration on spot of occurrence of illegal slaughters in every state, especially in West Bengal.

B. Please form a task force in each level comprising Govt. officials and the related NGOs to restrain illegal cow slaughter in every place, especially in West Bengal. Please stop all Cow markets set up for Bakri Idd and ban interstate import-export of cow progeny for slaughter as a mandatory measure.

C. Please apply the provisions of National Security Act (NSA) against the perpetrators for the violation of Animal slaughter Control Acts.

D. Please set a high strategy team for banning all type of Cow progeny slaughter under illegality and to monitor the prohibition and utilization through videography in surface and even through helicopter in the disturbed area due to cow slaughter.

E. Please start legal proceedings against BDO (Block Development Officer) and the Officer-In-Charge of the Police Station of the respective Block and the police station where the cases of illegal cow slaughter may occur violating the existing rules and regulations.

F. Please construct the Cow Rehabilitation Center in each district to maintain the rescued Cows and Oxen from illegal slaughter with a coordination of the various “Gosewa Goraksha Sangathan”  (Cow Rehabilitation & Protection Organizations) for a sustainable development of Indian agriculture, health, economy, energy, traditional medicines and ecology.

Vande Go Mataram ! Vande Mataram !! Jai Hind !!!

With best of regards.

Sincerely Yours,

Ashoo Mongia.

Gold coins of Ganga period found from Pachrahi excavation

Author: Atul Kumar | Source: India-Education Diary | Posted by TANN

Pachrahi Gold Coin

The excavations at Pachrahi, district Kabirdham, Chhattisgarh opened many hidden treasures in the Indian archaeology and history. The excavation revealed more than 8 temples, big royal palaces, more than 200 coins of gold, silver and copper coins. The outstanding discoveries are the fossils of 15 crore years old and a large prehistoric site.

The outstanding discovery is the finding of gold coins of Ganga period of Odisha.Gangas were the mighty dynasty of Odisha in the medieval period. In this dynasty one king Chodaganga dev has been considered to be the most powerful king of his time in eastern Inida.By erecting the Jagannatha temple and by increasing the importance of this famous shrine he also earned immortal fame in Orissan history.

During his time he attempted to enlarged his empire in all the directions. So he attempted to occupy the some portion of South Kosala area(Chhattisgarh area). But by that time this South Kosala area had been occupied by  the Kalachuris of Ratanpura. So he waged a war against the Kalachuri king Ratan dev II(AD1120-1135). But the result of the war is not clear.

Howevere the findings of gold coins of this dynasty in the south kosala area  or Chhattisgarh area ,clearly indicates that there was some sort of political or cultural or trade relation between the Kalinga country and south kosala area.

Note: For the first time the gold coins of Ganga dynasty have been found in this area which shows the cultural, political, and trade relation between two states during that period.

Amarnath Yatra crosses 234000 pilgrimage in less than two weeks this year.

Posted by hinduexistence on July 11, 2011

Jammu, July 10 (IANS) Less than two weeks into the annual Amarnath pilgrimage 2011, more than 230,000 pilgrims have visited the cave shrine till Sunday and many more are on their way, shrine board officials said.

Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) CEO R.K. Goyal said pilgrims were using both the tracks in north and south Kashmir to shrine to Lord Shiva, located at the height of 13,500 feet above sea level. The cave shrine houses an ice stalagmite formation that is believed to be a symbol of the deity.

Till Sunday noon, 2.34 lakh pilgrims have visited the shrine,’ he said, in a press release.

The number comes despite the number of suspensions of the pilgrimage, that started on June 29, because of hostile weather, rains and slippery tracks and jams on the highway and tracks leading to the shrine.

According to estimates if the current flow of the pilgrims continued, the number would cross more than half a million. About 475,000 pilgrims had paid obeisance at the shrine last year.

The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on Raksha Bandhan Day (Aug 13).

New Delhi, July 3: Indian cow and buffalo breeds possess a rich A2 allele gene that provides a better and healthier quality of milk than foreign breeds, according to a new study. The PTI recently reported about the study.

“The A2 allele gene in Indian milk breeds of cows and buffalos are 100 per cent, while in foreign breeds, it is around 60 per cent,” scientists of the National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) have said in a report. Furthermore the frequency of this allele in Indian milk breeds is 1.0 (100 per cent), while in exotic breeds, it has been reported to be nearly 0.6 (60 per cent) or less, they added. Set up in 1984, NBAGR is an arm of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and is based in Karnal, Haryana.

The finding was arrived at after screening the status of the A2 allele of the beta casein gene in indigenous cows like Red Sindhi , Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Rathi, Gir, Ongole and Vechur etc, NBAGR Director B K Joshi said. “The counter allele to A2 is A1, which is considered to be associated with diabetic, obesity, cardiovascular diseases etc,” added Joshi. “Although the foreign breeds of cows produce more milk than Indian varieties, but due to more concentration of A1 gene in those breeds, the milk is of low quality,” the report said, adding that the long-term use of such milk may cause several health disorders.

The scientists scanned 22 breeds of Indian cows and found that in five milk yielding Indian cowsRed Sindhi, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Rathi and Gir (see pics. above) — the status of the A2 allele was 100 per cent, while in other Indian breeds used for farming, its status was around 94 per cent, Joshi added. The scientists also scanned the status of this allele in the two most popular foreign breeds in India, Holstein Friesian and Jersey, in which the status of the A2 allele was 60 per cent only.

Temple treasures belong to royal family : Sankaracharya

Sree Padmanabha Temple treasures belong to Travancore royal family : Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati.

The Golden Padmanabha of Sree Padmanabha Temple of Thiruvananthapuram

Kanchipuram (TN), 5 th July 2011. Negated any other option, the Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi stated that the huge treasures, near Rupees 100000 crores in current valuation as found in Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram were the “exclusive property” of Travancore royal family that dedicated their kingdom to the presiding deity of the temple.

“”For long the erstwhile royal family was the custodian of the temple and they dedicted their kingdom to Lord Sree Padmanabhaswamy. The treasures were offerings made by erstwhile rulers to the temple, hence the recoveries belonged to the royal family”, he told PTI here.
………
“However, the treasures should be kept in the temple cellars itself”, he said.
The cellars of the temple, closed for several decades, were ordered to be opened by the Supreme Court to prepare inventory while considering a private petition recently.
…………
The deity of Padmanabha Swami Temple is the family deity of Travancore royal family. Members of the erstwhile royal family had dedicated their kingdom to the deity and pledged that they will live as servants of Padmanabha. The Shrine is run by a trust floated by the Travnacore royal house.Vast collection of gold, silver, precious stones and priceless jewellery were discovered in the cellars of the temple while preparing the inventory.” [e PTI News].
…….
Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham hinted the tradition of Sanatana Bharat, where the many ancient Hindu Kingdoms were operated by the King under the dictum of the Guru (Mentor-Path Finder)and as a servant of the People and People’s God. The people and the King of Travnacore enriched this ancient temple as the richest Hindu Deity in this world so far.
……….
The Travancore royal family did follow the tradition to be the servant of Lord Padmanabh here. Sankaracharya of Kanchi Mutth reminded the glorious past of Hindu dynasty of King Janaka under the blessings of Saint Yagyavalkya, King Vikramaditya under the teachings of Kautilya, King Harihar and Bukku with the inspiration of Vidyaranya Swami or Chatrapati Shivaji offered everything to Devi Bhavani and Samrath Guru Ramdas Swami.
……….
The Sankaracharya vehemently opposed the present Govt.’s attitude to denounce the Sanatana Hindu Dharma by some of its key functionaries in Congress and the tendency to grab Temple Properties of Hindus through an unprecedented pro-activeness for the last 10 years.
……………
The Kanchi seer advocated in favour of keeping the unearthed 100000 crore treasury as temple property under the sacred authority of Travancore royal family.
…………
Undoubtedly, decedents of this Kingdom think themselves as the servant of Lord Padmanabha and they did not stashed any thing out side the Temples or in any Swiss Bank. Actually, the British snatched many things invaluable for Britain from India. One stone harmonium of this Padmanabha Temple was transported by the British to Britain illegally.
……………..
The world famous Kohinoor Diamond was also grabbed by the English Men near Agra, when it was being trasported to Lord Jagannath of Puri by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, after he understood the possible aggression of the Brtish rulers throuhout India. [eAgencies]
