Hindu Existence Media Bureau | Vellore | 5 August 2014:: ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) fans are spreading with a lightening speed all over India from Srinagar in the North to Ramanathapuram in the south.
First ISIS flags with its main collaborator al-Qaeda were seen in a mask men protests in Srinagar after Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Eidgah in its old city area on 29th July. But, Ramanathapuram Jihadi guys are seen in their open support to ISIS in their black blazers. So far the date is not known but assumed in last weeks or in a couple of days.
A group photograph of two dozen Muslim youth, sporting black T-shirts with ‘ISIS’ emblazoned on it and posing in front of a mosque, has gone viral on social media, prompting the intelligence wing of the State police to step up surveillance in Ramanathapuram district, despite initial reports clearing the group of any suspicious behaviour.
Confirming that the picture was taken in front of the ‘Periya Pallivasal’ (Big Mosque) in Ramanathapuram district, a highly-placed police officer told Express that it was posted on Facebook from an overseas location.
Since the news of a man from Parangipettai joining the Sunni militants-led Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Syria is still fresh in the minds of people, the photograph evoked strong reactions. “I saw the post on Facebook two days ago and there were hundreds of likes and comments with many people sharing the pictures. It was posted by one Sangai Ridwan hailing ISIS in Tamil. He even compared the terrorists with freedom fighters like Subhash Chandra Bose. I was shocked at the support of Indian youth to a terror organisation,” said a Facebook user.
“Who is supposed to take note and act on young Muslim men flaunting ISIS T-shirts and posing 4 pics-as usual people responsible behaving like ostriches?” noted columnist S Gurumurthy said, reacting to the post in the social media.
Earlier, masked men surfaced after the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Eidgah in sensitive old city and waved black flags and banners of ISIS and Al Qaeda with Kalima (the first basic fundamental of Islam) inscribed on them. Some men even used the flags as masks to hide their faces even as other men watched from the lanes and bye-lanes.
After the Eid prayers were over, people started shouting anti-Israel and Pro-Palestine slogans to protest the Israeli aggression on Gaza. The call for 30 minute post-namaz protests was given by pro-Pakistan Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani to agitate against attacks on Gaza.
Neither of the two pan-Islamic Jihadi organizations have overt presence in Jammu and Kashmir. Though there is large number of foreign militants mostly Pakistani operating in Kashmir, they work under the banner of Lashkar-e-Tioba, Jaish-e-Mohommad, Al Bader, Hizb-ul-Mujhadeen and others. So the covert presence of ISIS and Al Qaeda cannot be denied in Kashmir valley as well as their assumed network upto Kerala. The present surfacing of ISIS fan (read fanatic) groups in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu is most alarming.
Security forces in India were however rattled when Al Qaeda released a video in June calling upon the Muslims in Kashmir to wage Jihad against Indian authorities. Entitled ‘War should continue, message to the Muslims of Kashmir’, the video features the statement of Al Qaeda commander Moulana Asim Umar threatening that the caravan (of heroic martyrs) was coming to “liberate Kashmir”.
This war cry for Jihad to liberate Kashmir or the Final Jihad (Ghazwa tul Hind) to convert India into an Islamic Country are the bone of contention of the military surveillance or the increasing riot situations in Bharat (India).
Experts says that giving support to Palestine in UN session in recent by the present Govt. in India (Sriman Narendra Modi Govt.) may be boosted up the mentality of the Jihadists in the country where the threat of Jihad is deplorable.
The Islamists showing ISIS emblems in Kashmir valley were masked men. So it is difficult to arrest them straight way. But, in Ramanathapuram case the perpetrators can be punished for their open identity. Some facebook activists in Tamil Nadu identified one Arhan Zozo in the pic., who is a local entertainment celebrity there.
Unless the Govt. of Bharat take a serious steps for such subversive activities in its own soil, these ISIS and al-Qaeda fanatics will make many Syria, Iraq and Gaza in India.
Moreover, presence of ISIS and al-Qadea in India in any shape may affect the situations in neighbouring countries and it is prone to a subcontinental security malady in the long run.
Ramananthapuram | One India | Aug 5, 2014:: Even as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) continues to take over one city after another in Iraq, two men from Ramnanthapuram were arrested on Tuesday for printing and selling ISIS graphics. According to reports, police found out that one of men, Abdul Rahman was instigating the youth in the country to join ISIS. Rahman was the main supplier of the merchandise, the police said. This is however not the first time that youths are supporting the ISIS from India. Earlier too four men from India had left their homes saying that they were going for a pilgrimage. It was only later that their families realised that the youth had left homes only to join the ISIS. ISIS on the other hand has been capturing territories in Iraq and taking weaponry from the Iraqi army. In a conflict with the government the militants have often launched scathing attacks killing many innocent civilians.
