Muslims fear rising tide of Hindu nationalism in Modi’s India.

Rama Lakshmi | Washington Post | Aug 17, 2015:: Since India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power last year, the country’s Muslims have expressed growing concerns about a spate of inflammatory statements made by Hindu nationalist leaders and activists.

Some of the recent flash points:

The hanging of Yakub Memon

Last month, India hanged Yakub Memon, a Muslim accountant convicted of helping plan bombings in 1993 in Mumbai that killed 257 people. Manycritics, including the Muslim lawmaker Asaduddin Owaisi, opposed the execution saying that there were other non-Muslim convicts waiting in the death row that were given clemency. More than 15,000 Muslims joined Memon’s funeral procession in Mumbai.

A call to increase birth rates to ‘protect Hindu religion’

Sakshi Maharaj, a lawmaker from the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said that Hindu women must have at least four children each to keep up with the growth in the population of Muslims in India. “The concept of four wives and 40 children will not work in India and the time has come when a Hindu woman must produce at least four children in order to protect Hindu religion,” Maharaj said. Muslim account for about 14 percent of India’s more than 1.2 billion people.

The beef ban in Maharashtra

The BJP government in the western state of Maharashtra banned the sale ofbeef because the cow is worshipped as a holy animal by many Hindus. Muslims dominate the meat industry in many parts of the country. “This is a political decision,” said Mohammed Aqil Qureshi, president of the Buffalo Traders Welfare Association in New Delhi. “They want to gratify the Hindus and harass the Muslims.” There have been calls for a national beef ban as well.

The drive to convert Muslims, Christians to Hinduism

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (or the World Hindu Council, which is associated Modi’s party) launched a program called “Gharwapsi” (or Homecoming) to urge India’s Muslims and Christians to convert to Hinduism, which they said was the religion of their ancestors. The controversial debate began in December 2014 when more than 50 impoverished Muslim families in a slum in the northern city of Agra attended a simple ceremony at which they were asked by a Hindu priest to chant and throw offerings into the holy fire in front of some Hindu idols.

Celebrating Godse, the man who killed Mahatma Gandhi

In December 2014, Maharaj again fueled anger when he called the assassin of India’s revered freedom leader Mahatma Gandhi a “patriot.” Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse, a firebrand Hindu activist who accused Gandhi of being very tolerant of Muslims and of “appeasing” them. Godse is widely known for his extreme anti-Muslim views. Maharaj later retracted the statement.

Declaring a Hindu national scripture

At an event in New Delhi last year, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said the Hindu scripture Bhagwad Gita must be declared a “national scripture.” Another BJP politician, Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of the northern Haryana state said Bhagwad Gita is considered more important than India’s secular Constitution.

Love jihad

Members of the World Hindu Council launched a campaign last year urging Hindu families to be on guard against what they called “love jihad” – romantic relationships between young Hindus and Muslims. They accused Muslim men of coercing Hindu women into love in order to convert them to Islam.

It seems Hindus did not learn from past history that never trust a promise or agreements of Musalman.great Sikh Guru Gobind Singh ji, already warned that Muslim is a liar, and should not be trusted.
Yet, IGNORANT Hindus like Gandhi, Nehru, and some selfish Hindu politicians did not learn from our past history .!

INDIAN MUJAHIDEEN PLANNING SUICIDE ATTACKS?

One more E-mail message purporting to be from the so-called Indian Mujahideen (IM) was reported to have been received on the evening of August 23,2008, by a TV news channel. It is suspected to have been sent from a computer in Mumbai’s Khalsa College . Police have initiated investigation to identify the originator. As in the case of the earlier message before the Ahmedabad blasts of July 26,2008 , the suspicion in the present case too is focussed on one Abdul Subhan Quereshi, projected by police officers of Gujarat as an information-technology literate activist of the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who operates from Mumbai. He has also been projected as an expert in the assembly of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). He is still absconding and has evaded capture by the police of either Gujarat or Mumbai.

2. To prove its authenticity, the message carries the photographs of some IEDs under the caption “Weapons of Mass Destruction” and of two cars which were used for the blasts in Ahmedabad. This modus operandi is similar to the use of a picture of bicycles with IEDs attached to them in the E-mail received by a news channel after the Jaipur blasts of May 13,2008.In the E-mails sent by the IM before the blasts in three cities of Uttar Pradesh on November 23,2007 , and before the Ahmedabad blasts, the IM apparently did not feel the need of authenticity proof since the blasts themselves, which occurred after the receipt of the E-Mails, served as proof of authenticity. In the E-mails sent after the Jaipur and Ahmedabad blasts, pictures were attached as proof of authenticity.

3. The messages sent before the UP blasts and after the Jaipur blast were purported to have been sent by one Guru al-Hind, which was suspected to be a reference to Mohad Afsal Guru, who has been sentenced to death for his role in the terrorist strike against the Indian Parliament in December,2001. His mercy petition is still under examination by the Government of India.

4. The message sent before the Ahmedabad blasts was purported to have been sent by the same Guru-al-Hind. By the side of his signature at the bottom of the message, the word Al-Arbi was written in capital letters. Al-Arbi means “The Arab”. It also stands for Wednesday. It was taken to mean that the message must have been signed by Guru al-Hind on the Wednesday preceding the blasts. In the latest message, the reference to Guru al-Hind is not there —-neither in the E-mail identity nor at the bottom of the message. Instead, the message is signed as Al-Arbi in capital letters. The e-mail identity of the originator has also been changed as al-arbi-al-Hind. In this context, al-Arbi could mean only “The Arab

” and not Wednesday. Thus, the e-mail identity used means “The Arab of India ” Why
so since the IM claims to be an organisation totally of Indian Muslims with no external links? Why the originator projects himself as “The Arab”? Is it a reference to one of the two Indian Muslims operating from Saudi Arabia for many years? One of them referred to by Pakistani jihadis as Abu Abdel Aziz was linked to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LEt). He had played what the jihadis considered as a legendary role in organising jihad in Bosnia and was also closely involved in assisting the jihadis in J&K. There was no evidence in the past to believe that Abu Abdel Aziz was connected with the SIMI. The other Indian Muslim in Saudi Arabia is C.A.M.Basheer of Kerala, who was the President of the SIMI in the 1980s. He was co-ordinating the activities of the SIMI in India and the Gulf from Saudi Arabia .

5.The latest message, like the previous one, has many religious quotations and allusions. It is quite abusive. The language used is typical Indian English—-not Pakistani or Arab. It uses abuses like
“bastards” that one picks up more in a secular educational institution than in a madrasa. It shows a propensity for the use of the verb “await” as in previous messages. It tries refute the allegations of the Gujarat police that the SIMI activists arrested by them were the perpetrators of the Ahmedabad blasts. It denies that the SIMI has metamorphosed into the IM as alleged by the Gujarat Police.It seeks to convey the impression that the real perpetrators have not been captured. Interestingly, it also tries to implicate Ken Haywood, an American missionary worker who was working in Mumbai and whose computer was suspected by the Police to have been used by the Indian Mujahideen without his knowledge, as a conscious collaborator. It thanks him and an associate of his for their co-operation and guidance in making the attack in Ahmedabad a success. Haywood has since run away from Indiawhen police investigation against him was in progress. Did he allow the IM to use his computer without knowing their background as a terrorist organisation?

6. The message warns of fidayeen attacks in the future. Some senior SIMI leaders arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in Indore in March last were reported to have stated that they had experimented with peroxide-based liquid explosives during a training camp held in Kerala last year. Peroxide-based explosives are increasingly the favourite choice of pro-Al Qaeda jihadi organisations and elements abroad, including in Pakistan and Afghanistan . A peroxide-based explosive was used by the suicide bombers in their terrorist strikes in London in July,2005. Is the IM planning to use peroxide-based explosives for suicide attacks in future?

7. The SIMI leaders arrested by the MP Police had also reportedly claimed during their interrogation that they had considered the options of hijacking an aircraft or taking of hostages before deciding on serial blasts. The IM may still resort to this modus operandi to get those arrested by the Gujarat Police released.

8. The latest message, like the previous one, repeats the strong attack on the Times of India. The reasons for the IM’s anger against the TOI are not clear. Could it be more personal than religious? Did any Muslim serving in the TOI in the past leave the service in bitterness— particularly from its Ahmedabad office? Has it been less critical or more supportive of Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat ? (25-8-08)

Email warns of more strikes

“Chetawani nahin, haqiqat (Not (just) a warning, but reality) — this was the title of the two-page terror e-mail that has been sent to the media by a group calling itself Deccan Mujahideen. The e-mail was sent a few hours after the terror attacks began in Mumbai on Wednesday night.

The e-mail, of which Hindustan Times has a copy, has been composed in flawed Hindi (liberally interspersed with chaste Urdu and Punjabi words) and makes disparaging remarks on India, and Hindus in particular.
Flaunting a rhetorical flourish, the e-mail warns of continuous terror attacks till “we do not show the Hindus their (actual) auqaat (status)… Till Muslims in India do not get to live according to Quran Hadith (Quran’s principles) on a free Islamic state… Till we do not avenge each atrocity (perpetrated on Muslims) and each drop (of blood shed by Muslims)”.
Intelligence Bureau officials said the name of the group seemed “fake”, though they were taking its content “seriously”.
“We suspect with the kind of Hindi they have used, and the mindset of the e-mail, that it shows a Pakistani, Punjabi or Pashtu, linkage. But we are inspecting if the language is akin to the kind spoken in Kashmir.”
Issuing a dire warning to the “Indian government”, the terror document read: “We today warn the Indian government that it should end its series of atrocities on Muslims, it should return to them their states… We know Hindus belong to the race of baniya (shopkeepers) who only take (what is owed to them), but never give back.”
“But the Hindu baniya should know that we are a qaum (community) that never forgets its history and in fact repeats its history.”
It warns India against ignoring its warnings, saying “our warnings prove correct, you have seen a live example in Mumbai”.
The e-mail also swears of incessant terror attacks in the name of a few of its role models, who do not seem to be Indians — like “Ummer Farokh Raji,” “Abu Baqar Siddiq Raji,” “Usman Raji,” and “Khalid Bin Walid Raji.”

This article is so so terribly biased against Narandra Modi and Hindus of Bharat.
History has shown time and time again over centuries that it is the majority population of Bharat that has been all along at the receiving end.
Hindus have suffered under Islamic rule ( forced conversions or killed mercilessly with atrocities unmentionable ) and also under colonial rule when the British used cunning to divide Hindus and Muslims by instigation,forced conversions by missionaries -refer to the Goa inquisition and perpetrating unjust and unfair laws on Hindus.
Every point stated in this article against the Muslims is in fact that which is being perpetrated on the Hindus.
The Hindus are just protesting against such atrocities and this woman takes pictures to ‘dramatize and create sensationalism’ !
Utterly shameful.
What a sham and what an unfair article which has been published by the Washington Post.
This shows how words and images can be manipulated to completely deface and malign the face of Truth!

We know that the media, especially the so-called mainstream media, is anti-Hindu. Now, if Hindus constitute approx. 80% of the total population, then isn’t this anti-country too? Of course, it is.

If the most reasonable and logical points are not comprehended by someone, then, such a person is either an idiot savant, a pretender or a knave or all rolled into one. Most such people are debased and intellectually dishonest. There are upstarts among them too.

Acharya Chanakya has stated about such people:
Antahasara viheenanamupadesho na jayate,
Malayachalasamsarganna venushchandanayate.

Arthaat:
No amount of advice in the world will ever enter into a person who has nothing (good) inside him,
Just as on Malayachal Parvat (Mountains), bamboo and sandalwood trees have grown side by side for thousands of years, but the beautiful scent of the sandalwood tree has still not entered the bamboo!

Such people should be shunned. In Malayalam there is a saying: Dushtala kanda doora velahu. That is: Move away when you come across “bad” people.
