HJS demands reserved grazing land for the cattle in Goa.

HJS demands to reserve grass land for domestic cattle in ‘Regional Plan Goa 2021’.

HJS Media | Goa | January 5, 2015:: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has made a demand through a representation with Town Planning Department to reserve in the Regional Plan grazing land for cattle and buffaloes which is the main source of milk in the state.

Regional Plan Goa 2021 of the Goa Government has reached the final stage. No grass land has been reserved in this plan for cattle to make natural fodder available to them. Therefore the HJS has made a demand to that effect. In the representation sent by Dr. Manoj Solanki, convener of HJS it is stated that, rapid growth in construction has reduced the present grass which is easy fodder for domestic cattle. Domestic cattle are the backbone of rural economy.

As per Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Goa, there are about 80 thousand cattle and 38 thousand buffalos in Goa. These cattle needs proportionate land for grazing; but cattle grazing land is not marked on the present Regional Plan Goa 2021. Therefore we request to please amend the Regional Plan 2021 by marking reservation to Grazing Land.
