Susmita Kaul | HENB | New Delhi | Jan 19, 2017:: On the day of 27th anniversary of migration of Hindus and Pandits, the Jammu and Kashmir government today passed a resolution in the state assembly for the return of Kashmiri migrants to the Valley.
“A good conducive atmosphere should be created for their safe return to the valley, “J&K Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta, announced in the house, during the ongoing winter session.
Earlier, former chief minister, the National Conference’s Omar Abdullah asked the government to pass a resolution to support the return of all sections of people who migrated from Kashmir over the past 27 years.
Earlier in the day, Omar had tweeted in support for the Kashmir’s Pandit community.
“27 years is 27 too many #kashmiripandits” he had tweeted.
Prominent actor and Kashmir activist Anupam Kher dedicated a video recitation to the uprooted Kashmiri pandits toady on 19 January, the day of 27th anniversary of Hindu Exodus.
27 years ago on this day, Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus had witnessed a hysteric, macabre night in the form of blaring threats and slogans by the Pak supported Islamists and Hurriyat fanatics, asking them to flee their homeland, convert or die.
