HJS News | Mumbai | May 5, 2017:: Though the state of Maharashtra is being run in the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj; still the ordinances are being issued every day in the State to impose various restrictions on Hindus. While the ordinance issued earlier regarding removal of pictures of Deities from the Government offices is still fresh, a new ordinance has been issued by the Government to make it incumbent for seeking the ‘No Objection Certificate’ from minorities in the areas for erecting statues of National Heroes.
The ordinance issued on 2nd May 2017 states in the guiding principles for erecting National Heroes and great personalities that the additional requirement is made in order to avoid any law and order problem in the future due to erecting the statues. As per this requirement, before erecting any statue, a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from minorities and residents that they are not opposed to the erection of statue is required to be obtained.
On the one hand, no deterrent action is taken against those demolishing the statue of Ram Ganesh Gadkari erected in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj garden in Pune, on the contrary, such guiding principles are imposed for erecting statues. This means that the Government is scared of those indulging in destruction. Now, if a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were to be erected anywhere in Maharashtra, it would be necessary to obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Muslim in advance. If it is so, will the Government now display the courage to issue an ordinance that permission form the majority in the area should be taken before installing loudspeakers on mosques, questioned Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
