Hindu girl abducted by Muslim Radicals in Islamic Pakistan’s Sindh province.

Forced marriage of a Minor Hindu girl Kareena by Muslim abductor after converting her into Islam in Pakistan’s Sindh. Hindus protest.

Kavita Rana | HENB | Karachi | July 13, 2022:: Another case of atrocities on minority communities has come to light in Pakistan. In fact, a 16-year-old Hindu girl was abducted and forcibly married to a Muslim man in Sindh province. After the abduction, he was first allegedly converted to Islam by Mitthu Mian group of radicals.

According to reports, a week ago, a Hindu girl Kareena was kidnapped from Unnar Mulla Qazi Ahmed town of Dadu. Police have dismissed reports of kidnapping. Police said that Kareena eloped with a Muslim boy named Khaleel Rehman and got married in a Karachi court. The people of the minority community raised slogans against this statement of the police and demanded rescue of the victim Hindu girl. Though the abduction was made a week ago, the matter has been clearly surfaced only two days before.

As an effect of the protest, the police have arrested Khaleel Rehman’s father Asghar after registering a complaint. The girl’s family staged a sit-in in front of former President Asif Ali Zardari’s house in Nawabshah, on Tuesday demanding the return of Kareena.

Journalist and South Asia correspondent of Associated Reporters Abroad, Nalia Inayat confirmed that incident in a tweet.

This is not the first case of abduction, forced conversion and marriage of a minority girl in Pakistan. In March this year, a Hindu girl named Pooja Kumari Odd was shot dead in Sukkur district of Pakistan. The girl was murdered because she had opposed forced marriage and conversion. Such cases of abduction, conversion and forced marriage of Hindu minor girls  happen in Pakistan on a regular basis infringing the rights of marginal minorities.

The American Sindhi Foundation has claimed that around 1,000 minority minor girls are abducted and converted and married to Muslim men every year in Sindh province. The Government of Pakistan has assured the safety of minorities on many occasions, but the atrocities on minorities are not stopping.
