Upendra bharti | HENB | Fatehpur | July 22, 2022:: Abdul Jameel of Fatehpur embraced Hinduism with Vedic chants wearing a janeu (holy threads) in a Hanuman temple here on Thursday. Now he will be known as Shravan Kumar. He said, “There is a lot of discrimination in Muslim religion. There is no real brotherhood. No brother is there brother indeed.”
Jameel is a retired railway employee. He is survived by wife, three daughters and one son. None of them have left Islam. All live in Lucknow. The eldest daughter is married.
Due to this decision of Shravan alias Abdul, there is social pressure on his entire family. In such a situation, Shravan alias Abdul has left Lucknow and now living in Fatehpur. The program to get him included in Sanatan Dharma was done under the supervision of Manoj Trivedi, State General Secretary of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM).
Story of Abdul Jameel becoming Shravan Kumar
Abdul Jameel said, ‘People are greedy in Muslim religion, they can even murder in the greed of property. I was worried about all these things. Then I decided that I would adopt Hinduism. I worship Lord Rama and Krishna. They are my ideal deities. I liked it very much when for the first time I was doing the Havan (rituals of fire sacrifice) by chanting the holy name of Lord Vishnu.’
Brother-in-law beat him as hostage on the matter of going to Hinduism
He says, ‘His brother-in-law Babar alias Mustakim had tortured a lot by taking him hostage at home after hearing about his conversion to Hinduism. I had faith in my adorable Lord Rama. Whom I have been worshiping at home for the last three months. I don’t feel scared anymore. Now if someone threatens me, then I will file a complaint with the police. I will meet the District Magistrate and ask for security.
Got a job in Railways in 1978
Shravan Kumar told that his original residence was Sadabad in Mathura district. Which is now in Hathras. On 30 October 1978, he joined the railway service. The first posting was on the post of reservation supervisor in Fatehpur district and he stayed in Fatehpur for 20 years. After this he was transferred to Shikohabad. Worked there for 18 years and retired from there in 2014.
Great welcome to Hindu Dharma
Shravan Kumar has been welcomed by the members of Hindu Mahasabha and given an assurance to protect him from the threat of any miscreants of other society, There was a great enthusiasm for the Gharwapsi (back to home) programme to convert Abdul Jameel into his new journey in Hinduism as Shravan Kumar.
A get together and ‘prasadam’ were also arranged by the Hindu Mahasabha members in that programme as well.
