B Upendran | HENB | Bengaluru | July 27, 2022:: A 32-year-old Hindutva activist, linked with Jilla BJP Yuva Morcha committee, named Praveen Nettaru, was hacked to death in front of his broiler shop in Bellare by bike-borne miscreants on late Tuesday evening. Unrest prevailed as a huge crowd gathered outside Bellare police station in Sullia taluk after news of Praveen’s murder spread like wildfire. The Hindu people of the area wanted to join in the funeral procession of the Hindutva activists, in a large number. The murder was designed in a very Jihadi style in which many Hindu activists were brutally killed in the region in the past by the home-grown Islamist organizations.

However, following the intervention of the police, the funeral procession was restricted. The body was directly taken to his house in Bellare. The protestors demanded immediate arrest of the suspected Jihadi miscreants behind Praveen Nettaru’s murder.

Praveen, who was an active member in Sangh Parivar, eked a living by running a broiler shop in Bellare.

Section 144 was imposed in the Puttur area and security was tightened as protests erupted.

Following Praveen’s murder, the Sangh Parivar has called for a bandh in Puttur, Kadaba and Sullia taluk on Wednesday. Sangh Parivar also decided to take out a procession carrying the body of Praveen via Puttur, Darbe, Savanoor, Kaniyoor and Bellare at 9.30 am. To prevent any untoward incident, police security has been stepped up in Puttur, Sullia and Kadaba taluk.

Heavy security forces were also deployed in Bellare village of the Dakshina Kannada district in the wake of this incident. Additional police forces have also been dispatched from Mangalore and Udupi to ensure law and order.

Police suspecting it as a retaliation to another murder in Bellare have stepped up security in market and surrounding areas. Bellare police have registered a case and are investigating. Local people say that Praveen was murdered in retaliation to the murder of Masood in Bellare. So, local people attended in the protest against Praveen’s murder was full of anger to the Jihadi miscreants taking  control over the areas.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday assured that the culprits involved in the ”heinous act” will be arrested soon and be punished as per law.

Meanwhile, five special police teams have been formed to nab the accused. “Five special police teams have been formed to trace the accused. Out of the five, three teams have been sent to Kerala and Madikeri and Hassan in Karnataka respectively,” District Superintendent of Police Rushikesh Sonanay informed the media persons accordingly.

Dakshin Kannada is made the hot spot for the home-grown Jihadis to attack and kill the Hindu activists for years and at least dozens of Hindu activists were killed by the Jihadis in the rule of the previous Congress government and even in the present BJP government.
