B Upendran | HENB | Kasargod | Nov 11, 2022:: Dr Krishnamurthy, a renowned dentist in Badiyadka in the Kasaragod district of Kerala who had reported missing a few days ago, has been found dead in mysterious circumstances. Dr Krishnamurthy has been running a dental clinic in the town for several years and is known for his service to patients. As per local sources, Dr Krishnamurthy had received threats from the leaders of the Muslim League and linked Jihadis purportedly to support another dental hospital of their community that recently started in the town. The doctor had received extortion threats and was also asked by the criminals to close his clinic or face dire consequences.
A few days ago, Dr Krishnamurthy went missing, after which the family members filed a missing complaint. The assistants at his clinic filed a complaint against the men who threatened them. However, the search for the doctor was not successful. The town was tense since he went missing. The police registered an unnatural death case, while Hindu organizations blamed the Muslim League and other Jihadis for his murder.
After the initial investigation, the police arrested areca nut trader and Muslim League leader and Kumbdaje Panchayat Secretary Ali Thuppakallu; Muslim League Badiyadka Panchayat office bearer Muhammad Hanif Yane Anwar; Kumbdaje resident Ashraf,; Annadka resident Muhammad Shiabuddin and Vidyagiri Muniyuru resident Umarul Farooq. The investigation revealed that a group of Muslims led by Ali and Anwar threatened to kill Dr Krishnamurthy in the clinic on Tuesday last. They accused the doctor of misbehaving with a woman who visited the clinic. Subsequently, Dr Krishnamurthy went missing. His bike was found in Kumbale town. Mobile was left at clinic. Badiadka police had filed case as per the complaint given by Dr Krishnamurthy’s wife. On Thursday, his dead body was found on railway tracks near Kundapur.
From Dr Krishnamurthy’s family source, it is divulged that two years back the dentist donated a lump sum amount to some youths for a Hindu festival. Hearing that news, the Muslim organizers of ‘Millat’ also demeaned a big amount which was denied by Dr Krishnamurthy. Since then, the Jihadi Muslim groups started threatening to the doctor to close his clinic or to face dire consequences. The Muslim groups also set a woman to malign the reputation of the dentist by framing false allegations like ‘misbehavior with female patients’.
Dr Krishnamurthy could be the victim of wild target of the Jihadi groups as his suspected connection with Hindutva groups.
On Friday, Badiadka town observed ‘hartal’ as the call was given by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). All the shops were closed. Protest was held under the leadership of VHP. Huge procession was held in Badiadka town by the VHP. The procession which began from the vicinity of Dr Krishnamurthy’s house ended at Badiadka main bus stand.
