Now, Muslims in Rajasthan are opposing Surya Namaskar in schools.

Surya Namaskar compulsory in Rajasthan schools from Feb 15, Muslim orgs object.

“No Muslim child will attend school on February 15. This decision will be communicated across mosques in Rajasthan,” Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind said. A section of Muslims in India have been opposing Yoga and Surya Namaskar, describing these as  tool of Hindutva propagation. 

Ravindra Sachdeva | HENB | New Delhi | Feb 13, 2024:: A petition has been filed by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in the Rajasthan High Court seeking a refrain from the compulsory practice of Surya Namaskar in schools, a recent move by the newly formed BJP-led state government.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma recently made Surya Namaskar mandatory in all schools from February 15, which also falls on Surya Saptami Day.

This has caused protest within the Muslim community who think it’s an outright violation of their religious freedom.In every footstep, the Muslims find clue to oppose the Indian tradition and culture to live in the realm of Sharia and 100% halal circumstances. Majority of Muslim minorities in India think, they have the right to establish an Islamic situation in India whatsoever.

On February 12, the state executive of the Jamiat Ulema Hind convened a meeting with other Muslim organisations where a decision was taken not to send Muslim children to schools on February 15, challenging the decision of State Education Department.

“No Muslim child will attend school on February 15. This decision will be communicated across mosques in Rajasthan. The state government is trying to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims,” general secretary of Jamiat Ulama-e-Rajasthan, Maulana Abdul Wahid Khatri said.

The Rajasthan High Court is scheduled to hear the matter on Wednesday, February 14.

Hardliner Jamiat functionaries have also hinted that they will not follow the ‘Surya Namaskar’ dictum of Rajasthan Govt, whatever directions may came from the judiciary.
