Subham Verma | HENB | Nashik, Maharashtra | April 18, 2026:: Tensions escalated in Nashik on Friday as activists of the Bajrang Dal staged protests outside key administrative offices and a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) facility, demanding stringent action against individuals accused in a case involving alleged sexual harassment and coercion for religious conversion.
The protestors first gathered outside the district collector’s office, raising slogans condemning the reported incidents. A separate group assembled outside the TCS BPO unit in Nashik to register their dissent and call for immediate legal action. The demonstrations follow serious allegations made earlier this week by eight female employees of the multinational firm.
According to police sources, the femal Hindu complainants have accused certain senior Muslim colleagues of mental and sexual harassment, as well as coercive attempts to influence their religious beliefs. The allegations include inappropriate remarks, pressure to consume beef, and efforts aimed at Islamic conversion. The complaint also states that a Hindu official in the human resources department failed to respond adequately to their grievances.
In response to the severity of the accusations, local authorities have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a detailed inquiry. So far, eight employees of TCS have been arrested, including seven men and one female operations manager. Investigators confirmed that another female employee named as Nida Khan in the case is currently absconding. Reports indicate that she has cited pregnancy as the reason for her absence and is preparing to seek anticipatory bail.
Bajrang Dal leaders, while addressing the protestors, called for strict punishment against those found guilty, describing the case as a serious instance of workplace exploitation targeting Hindu women through ‘Corporate Jihad‘ and ‘Conversion Jihad‘ as alleged. The organization had earlier announced a nationwide protest on April 16 and 17 to highlight what it described as rising incidents of harassment and forced religious conversion.
The controversy has also reportedly impacted operations at the TCS Nashik BPO unit. According to sources, the office has been temporarily shut, with employees instructed to work from home amid the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have stated that the matter is under active investigation and have urged the public to refrain from speculation while due process is followed. Further developments are expected as the SIT continues its probe into the allegations.
