We will amend Constitution to undo ‘anti-Hindu’ changes made by Congress, says Karnataka BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde.

Constitution should be changed to save Hinduism: BJP’s Anant Hegde on how this can happen after getting 400 seats in Lok Sabha polls 2024. BJP refutes.

Anant Kumar HegdeB Upendran | HENB | Bengaluru | March 10, 2024:: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) member of parliament (MP) from Karnataka, Anant Kumar Hegde has said that the Indian constitution needs to be changed ‘to save our religion’ and the only way BJP can do it is if the party can win over 400 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He particularly emphasized to amend Indian constitution to undo ‘anti-Hindu’ changes made by Congress through the decades after independence in a mode of appeasement politics.

Hegde earnestly urged voters to vote for the BJP to achieve the number in coming general election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“You all must help BJP to win over 400 seats. Why does the BJP need 400+ seats? Congress leaders in the past made changes to the constitution in a way that doesn’t put Hinduism in front. We need to change it and save our religion. We already have a two-thirds majority in Lok Sabha, and we do not have that in Rajya Sabha to amend the constitution. 400+ numbers will help us achieve that,” Hegde said, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Further, crunching numbers, Hegde also reasoned that apart from Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, they need two-thirds majority even in the state.

“We need a two-thirds majority in Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and even in the state. All hurdles to rewrite the constitution will then go away and help us to put Hinduism in the forefront,” he added.

Earlier, several opposition parties, including the leaders of Samajwadi Party (SP), Trinmool Congress (TMC), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Congress Party (INC) had opined that the BJP-led government would try to change the constitution, if they clinched to the central power this time in 2024.

As per the TN-ETG Research survey, the NDA is likely to win 358-398 seats, while I.N.D.I Alliance might gain about 110 to 130.

The report further cites, YSRCP is hopeful for 21-22, BJD about 10-11 and others will be around 11-15.

Another poll shows, that apart from winning it large, the BJP is likely to crush Congress and regional parties – TMC, AAP and others in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As per the prediction, BJP is likely to win about 333 to 363 alone, while Congress would win about 28 to 48.

BJP Distances After MP’s “Will Change Constitution” Remark

The BJP didstanced itself from MP Ananth Kumar Hegde’s remark and has sought an explanation from him.

The BJP stamped out any speculation about a tweak in Constitution and distanced itself from its MP Ananth Kumar Hegde’s remarks about a change in the founding document if the party comes back to power with two-thirds majority.

“MP Ananth Kumar Hegde’s remarks on the Constitution are his personal views and do not reflect the party’s stance. @BJP4India reaffirms our unwavering commitment to uphold the nation’s Constitution and will ask for an explanation from Hegde regarding his comments,” the BJP posted on X just hours after its MP made the comments.

The BJP needs a two-thirds majority in both Houses of Parliament to amend the Constitution and “set right distortions and unnecessary additions made to it by the Congress”, Mr Hedge had said earlier today.

“If the Constitution has to be amended – the Congress fundamentally distorted the Constitution by forcefully filling unnecessary things in it, especially by bringing in laws that were aimed at suppressing the Hindu society – if all of this has to be changed, it is not possible with this (current) majority.

The Hindu Rashtra Contrast within BJP

The sharp contrast  between the leaders and the party line within BJP created a confusion on  the idea of ‘constitutional’ Hindu Rashtra in future.

Though the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha), the mother organisation of BJP has never advocated for any ‘constitutional’ Hindu Rashtra in India, many Hindutvawadi leaders in BJP openly demands the Hindu Rashtra along with its Hindutva Constitution.

As the lately declared ‘Secular’ India ( India declared  Socialist  and Secular country through its 42nd constitutional amendment during the period of emergency in 1976-77) cannot give any safeguard for Hindus from conversion, love-jihad, cow-slaughter, religious discrimination and so on; many members of BJP now want many changes in Indian constitution to make India as a safe place for Hindus.

Whether the concept of ‘Constitutional Hindu Rashtra’ is a hidden agenda of RSS-BJP, the present BJP central of state leadership does not openly support the claim of Hindu Rashtra and the necessary amendments in constitution as demanded by Karnataka BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde or BJP MLA from Telangana, Tiger Raja Singh.
