Communal clash in WB’s Murshidabad. Beldanga is still burning, though put under control.

WB: Beldanga is still burning. Police say, situation under control; assure strict action against perpetrators. 

The tension was flared up from a ‘mischievous’ glow sign message on Allah in a Kartik Puja Pandal Gate. Hindu houses and shops were burnt under ‘Islamist provocation’. Many Hindus and police personnel were injured. 

Sambuddha Gupta | HENB | Berhampur | Nov 17, 2024:: Communal tension flared up from a ‘mischievous’ glow sign (lighting decoration) message on Allah appeared in a Sarbojanin Kartik Puja Pandal Gate in Murshidabad’s Beldanga near Harimati School. Reportedly Hindu houses and shops were burnt under ‘Islamist provocation’ in a close proximity to the local police station. 

According to available reports, some derogatory remarks on Allah suddenly appeared in the Sarbojanin Kartik Puja Pandal Gate creating a reaction from the Muslim locals. As the video footage of that slandering went viral in various platforms of social media, the Islamist reaction started with high provocations from local mosques and also through the internet. 

It is told that the derogatory remarks on Allah were pushed through the LED glow sign (lighting decoration) without the notice of the Puja Committee members and they were also perplexed with the growing communal stake suddenly created in peaceful and joyous festive moments.  It is also reported that two workers from a ‘specific community’ went missing who were engaged in the lighting decorations of the Puja Pandal with some others. 

Another source says that the Kartik Puja committee gave the lighting decoration contract for the pandal and gate to one Sk Bashir, the owner of Majherpara Electrical Mart,  who actually installed the lighting  board from where the derogatory remarks on Allah were displayed.

Amit Malviya, the Central Media Cell in-charge of BJP tweeted the matter in his X handle as, “On the day of Kartik Puja, Muslims attack Hindu houses in Murshidabad’s Beldanga. Mamata Banerjee’s police remains a mute spectator. West Bengal has become a graveyard for Hindus. Every festival and puja of their’s is attacked, while Mamata Banerjee looks the other way.”

From the available video in the social media, it was seen a Muslim youth, probably a Maulana, gave a call to lay down all Hindus of Beldanga by slaying them in the name of Allah as retaliation.

As the fanatic Muslims attacked the local people randomly, many Hindus and police personnel on duty were injured.

Though the situation is now under control as conveyed by the office of the Superintendent of Police of Murshidabad Police District, Beldanga is still being rippled in a communal tension and fear of further attacks on minority Hindus in the district. Sec. 144 CrPC has been imposed in Beldanga town.

Police say, nobody will be spared those who are engaged in destroying communal harmony. Internet services are suspended as a preventive measure and police are negotiating with the conflicting groups to maintain the peace.
