B Upendran | HENB | Tirupati | Dec 13, 2025:: A viral video has sparked outrage among Hindu organizations in Tirupati, with members of various groups staging a protest against a contract lecturer at Sri Venkateswara Government Polytechnic (SVGP). The lecturer, identified as Madhavi, was recorded writing on the board, making comparisons between Jesus Christ and family members, sparking allegations of religious preaching in the classroom.
Notably, Christian organizations are active in Tirupati, a major Hindu pilgrimage site, to carry out proselytizing activities.
The Incident
The video, shot by a student, shows Madhavi writing in Telugu on the green board, equating Jesus Christ to parents and siblings. The incident has been widely condemned by Hindu groups, who argue that the lecturer’s actions were unprofessional and inappropriate as engaged to spreading Christianity.
Demands for Action
Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal gathered outside the college, demanding disciplinary action against Madhavi. They also called on the government to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future. TTD trust board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy has demanded that the lecturer be removed from her position, citing a failure to maintain professional boundaries.
“Unacceptable Behavior”
“This behavior is unacceptable. She can practice her faith at home, but using the classroom for religious preaching is unpardonable,” Reddy said. “The government should take immediate action against her.” The incident has sparked a heated debate about the role of religion in educational institutions and the need for professional boundaries.
Investigation Underway
The college administration has been criticized for not taking action against the lecturer, and an investigation has been launched to determine the facts surrounding the incident. The outcome of the investigation will likely determine the fate of the lecturer and the future of religious tolerance in educational institutions.
