“Stop ‘Islamization’… Defeat TMC”: Kolkata Police Constable Suspended After Viral Pre-Poll Video Sparks Row.

“Stop the ‘Islamization’ of Departments… Defeat TMC to Save Bengali Hindus from Jihad…”

Kolkata Armed Police Constable Suspended After Viral ‘Politico-Communal’ Video Ahead of Bengal Poll Phase.

Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | New Delhi | April 27, 2026:: A senior Hindu constable of the Kolkata Police, Ramkrishna Kayal, has been suspended after a video of him making politically and communally charged remarks while in uniform went viral on social media, triggering swift departmental action and public debate.

Constable Ramkrishna Kayal was suspended after his “politico-communal” remarks on social media went viral on April 26. In the video, Kayal alleged a broader conspiracy by the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) to “Islamise” the police department and promote religious conversion among Bengali Hindus.

He further called upon Bengali Hindus in South Bengal to vote against the TMC for a change in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for April 29. Kayal also claimed that a return of the TMC government could, in his view, lead to a worsening communal situation and pose an existential threat to Bengali Hindus.

Viral Video and Immediate Action

The video, which surfaced on Facebook on April 26 and quickly spread across platforms including X, shows Constable Kayal—who identifies himself as a member of the Kolkata Armed Police with 23 years of service—delivering a lengthy speech mixing political appeals with controversial claims about religious influence within the police force and broader society.

Within hours of the video gaining traction, authorities confirmed his identity and placed him under suspension. Officials cited a clear violation of service rules, which strictly prohibit uniformed personnel from engaging in political advocacy or making statements that could disrupt communal harmony.

Content of the Speech

In the over 20-minute clip, Kayal makes a series of allegations regarding the alleged “Islamisation” of the police department and society, and calls on voters—particularly in South Bengal—to vote against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the upcoming phase of the state assembly elections scheduled for April 29.

The speech includes:

  • Political appeals urging a change in government
  • Claims of systemic religious influence in administrative structures
  • References to past incidents of communal tension
  • Strong and controversial interpretations of religious texts

A full English transcription of the speech, reportedly generated and circulated online, has further amplified the reach and scrutiny of his remarks.

The part English trascription of the speech of Constable Kayal (derived from X- Grok) is given below:

“Hello, I am Ramkrishna Koyal from Kolkata Police. I have been working for 23 years and still 17 more to go. I have given last 15 years service under TMC Govt. For the last 15 years of my life as a police officer, I have seen how the department is being Islamized. In these last 15 years, I’ve witnessed how they are trying to make Hindus and Bengalis Muslims. The first phase of the election process has been completed. For the second one, all my support for all the people in South Bengal. In your language, this is a humble appeal from a ‘Chati-chata Daladas police’,  vote in that way that may change the government in a certain way. Vote so that the government changes. Yes, I am saying such things because I have seen how they are trying to make the department Islamized so fast, how in an administrative way they want Bengalis to become Muslims. In this second phase of the election, the people from South Bengal — all Bengalis, if you think Hindus — everyone together, vote against TMC to change the government. That is to vote against TMC. To win TMC means to win Muslim. Yes,  beat the Jihadi power. And under Jihadi power our Matha Mandir, our Devdevi Murthi will be destroyed. Why am I saying this? It means, if they win to form TMC government that is the victory of Muslims. And it also means the destruction of our Matha, Mandir,  Murthi and Dev Devi. Their win means the rape of our mothers and sisters. Yes, because according to Islam, in the context of their faith, those who follow that Arabic doctrine, those who  are called Muslims,  they will be able to rape women, according to this religious [teaching], Even they will be able to rape [you]. Even giving you a false charge of defamation of Islam they will drive out you from your area and kill you as Islam is an insult to you.  During Eid — Happy Eid — after one month after Roja Eid, do you know, friend, that after this month of Eid they are permitted to kill you on religious ground? No, you do not know. A Muslim, as a Muslim, can’t make friends with any other. Then why are they doing so? They are lying. Because here this is the same Eid which is also the Roja Eid, there is the instruction to attack and kill you after Eid is over. They are even not permitted to make friends with Non-Muslims. Then why they do so apparently?  When they are less in number, then they become a friend of you under pretence. So this — yes, I am saying again —  all Bengali Hindus should vote to change this government. And Elect them who are talking about saving Hindus. Because, the win of the TMC government means… the win of Muslims at the same time.  And if you think of it, you will understand they once captured power with CPM flag, after that they grabbed TMC flag. They tortured us with CPM flag, afterwards they are torturing us with TMC flag. We Hindus have been persecuted by the Muslims again and again. But see how the governments permitted such policy. You have to know the cause of it, we have to read their religious book Quran. When they increased their numbers abundantly, we failed to increase our numbers. And when their number increases, then no more politics to combat them. I am saying again: a win of Muslims, TMC government — the meaning is your mother and brother, dharma, human rights will be killed. And you will have to [face] communal riot, loot [in] your house. It is written in their book. This is the Arabic preaching in Quran. In my house there are three Quran. When I read the Quran for the first time, I could not sleep at night. With whom am I? And we are brothers and friends. Kusum (Eki brinte duti kusum- two flowers in a branch) in our childhood, brother Jahangir, Anishur from class 5, we remained friends. At that time even they were part of Saraswati puja. But they took ten children in the name of Islam and we took only two.  See — all the violence with CAA, Nupur Sharma and many more — Dhulian, Dhulogar, Kaliachak, Namkhana. If there is video footage, think about it: how small children, Muslim 10-12 years old children — they paricipated in violence in the call of religion. See your golden mind, that our Babu Sona or our people. Can we make our children like that? What can you? If it happens, my child — fight their own fight. Because Islam will not leave you. Islam will not give up. Because their nature has given instructions to do Jihad. How long does jihad [last]? As long as there is Islamic establishment all over. What is this? It’s a process of establishing the rule of Jihad in Islam. There are less in your group like Jihad. But when the number will be less, will stay together with you. In this religion, ten children — we have to make a mistake about Islam. This is also jihad. Our daughter’s fate — married our girl. Yes, it was. And one Hindu — the meaning of taking a Hindu woman into her womb, two or five from that Muslim boy. This is the confederation. And this confederacy — it has been written in many books in religion. I am challenging Muslim society. There are some educated [who] know Quran, Hadith. The one who will tell me that you don’t know anything about Islam — what does it say? There’s nothing like that. If we can prove that non-religious women don’t know anything about Islam and our religion is not written where we kill our deities, we commit murder — it doesn’t say. If you can give evidence, then I am challenging you. If you can give evidence to prove that, I will be a Muslim in your family and in the future. Not only to my family but also the peace and religion of Islam. This is very beautiful. Problem was for decades CPM, Congress and some intellectuals — who may be Muslims — they get beaten up, their women get beaten. In this way our secularism has kept us busy that we can’t go out. The problem is we Bengalis — we don’t know. After so much violence, after coming from Bangladesh and Pakistan, so many Indians have been discriminated. Even after all this, but we have to eat our secularism. The problem is that educated Bengalis who think they are secular intellectuals who think they are very educated — they have been beaten up by Seligids, Byron, Shakespeare. All of them. Not only religious but also Quran. That’s why they keep on making mistakes and make us and everyone else disgrace. Yes, it is possible there will be violence. It can happen because they will easily go to the police station and file an FIR saying that I have made a mistake in Islam. It’s not true. There is one. A few days ago he had posted. I am challenging him. You can’t say that you ate it once but you have to eat beef once. And you can’t say that you ate it twice. But I am challenging him because he is a Muslim. (The video ends shortly after this final challenge.).

This is the incomplete English rendering available from the video’s audio via X Grok (though the english rendering is not found matching in many places with the Bengali version and incomplete in many places). The speaker repeatedly emphasizes his 23 years of service, accuses the TMC government of enabling demographic and cultural Islamization of West Bengal’s police and society, urges Bengalis/Hindus to vote against TMC in the upcoming elections, cites personal reading of the Quran, references specific incidents of violence, and issues a direct challenge to Muslims regarding Islamic texts and practices.

Here are ten key points distilled from the speech of Ramkrishna Kayal, based strictly on the content of the transcript:

  1. Service Background Emphasis
He repeatedly highlights his 23 years of service in the police force to establish credibility and authority for his claims.
  2. Allegation of Institutional “Islamisation”
He claims that over the past 15 years, there has been a systematic effort to “Islamise” the police department and administrative structures.
  3. Claim of Forced Religious/Demographic Change
He alleges attempts are being made to convert or influence Hindus and Bengalis toward Islam as part of a broader process. He also highlighted the rape of Hindu women and extreme situation while Hindus fleeing from the area under communal riots.
  4. Political Appeal Against Ruling Party
He directly urges people—especially in South Bengal—to vote against the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the upcoming elections.
  5. Linking Electoral Outcome with Religious Identity
He frames the election outcome in religious terms, suggesting that a TMC victory would equate to a “victory” for Muslims and defeat for others.
  6. References to Communal Incidents
He cites past incidents and tensions (e.g., protests, riots, controversies) as examples to support his narrative of rising communal conflict.
  7. Interpretation of Religious Texts
He claims to have read the Quran and presents his own interpretation of it, using this to justify his concerns and arguments.
  8. Demographic Concerns and Population Narrative
He raises concerns about population growth among Muslims and suggests it is strategically used for influence or dominance.
  9. Criticism of Secularism and Political Parties
He criticizes secular politics and parties like CPM and Congress, alleging that “secularism” has weakened societal awareness and response.
  10. Direct Challenge to Muslim Community
Toward the end, he repeatedly issues a challenge to Muslims and others to disprove his interpretations of Islam, even stating he would convert if proven wrong.

Violation of Service Norms

Police officials emphasized that Kayal’s appearance in uniform while making such statements constitutes a serious breach of discipline. Members of the police force are bound by strict codes of conduct requiring political neutrality and restraint, particularly in public communications.

A senior official noted that:

“Any form of political messaging or communal commentary by a serving officer, especially in uniform, undermines institutional integrity and public trust.”

Public Reaction and Debate

The incident has sparked polarized reactions online. While some social media users have called for protection for the constable, others have strongly condemned the remarks as inflammatory and irresponsible, particularly given the sensitive pre-election context.

Experts point out that such incidents highlight the challenges of maintaining institutional neutrality in politically charged environments. The timing—just days before a crucial election phase—has added to concerns about the potential impact on public sentiment.

Authenticity Confirmed

Authorities have clarified that the video is genuine and not a deepfake or impersonation. The length of the recording, Kayal’s self-identification, and the prompt departmental response all confirm its authenticity.

Broader Context

The Kolkata Armed Police operates under the state government and plays a key role in maintaining law and order. Incidents involving personnel expressing political or communal views publicly are rare but taken seriously due to their potential implications.

What Happens Next

While Kayal has been suspended pending further inquiry, officials have not yet detailed whether additional disciplinary or legal action will follow. The case is expected to be reviewed internally in accordance with service regulations.

Religious bias—termed “Islamization”

The suspension of a serving police constable over viral political and communal remarks underscores the strict expectations of neutrality within law enforcement. As West Bengal heads into a critical election phase, the episode has intensified discussions around institutional discipline, freedom of expression, and the responsibilities of public servants in a democratic framework.

The episode also highlights what some observers describe as underlying frustrations among a considerable section of Hindu employees in government departments, amid allegations of religious bias—termed “Islamization”—and concerns over their rights and opportunities.
