Akash Goswami | HENB | Kolkata, July 2 | July 2, 2026:: An extended West Bengal state-level meeting of the Bharat Raksha Manch was held in Kolkata on Wednesday, bringing together organizational leaders, social activists, and representatives from different parts of the state to deliberate on issues concerning national security, demographic changes, and the role of Hindu society in contemporary India.
The meeting was organized at the conference hall of Hotel Royal Residency, located near Durga Mandir at Dum Dum Gate No. 2. Among the distinguished attendees was Bharat Raksha Manch founder and noted social activist Suryakant Kelkar, who addressed the gathering on a range of ideological and organizational issues.
The discussions centered on what participants described as the responsibilities and duties of the Hindu community in safeguarding society and the nation under the prevailing socio-political circumstances. A significant portion of the deliberations focused on demographic changes in West Bengal, with members expressing concern over illegal infiltration into the state. Participants emphasized the need for effective measures to curb infiltration and to identify and expel illegal infiltrators.
Addressing the gathering, Kelkar reflected on the condition of Hindu society over the past several decades. He stated that, in his view, a section of educated Hindu society had, over the last 70 to 75 years, been conditioned against Hinduism through what he described as the “vaccine of secularism,” while traditional Indian systems such as Yoga and Ayurveda had been marginalized. He further observed that the present Union Government, along with several state governments, has been working to restore India’s cultural identity and Sanatan traditions through greater recognition, promotion, and practice of indigenous knowledge systems. According to Kelkar, these developments have generated renewed optimism among supporters of Sanatan culture.
Speaking on religious and cultural issues, Kelkar also asserted that communities belonging to other faiths in India were historically connected with the broader Sanatan Hindu tradition. He advocated efforts toward “Gharwapsi” (homecoming), describing it as a means of bringing such communities back into the fold of Sanatan Hindu Dharma.
During the programme, Upananda Brahmachari, editor of Hindu Existence, was felicitated with a saffron uttariya (ceremonial scarf) along with other distinguished guests. In his address, Brahmachari appealed to the youth to take an active role in resisting what he referred to as “Love Jihad” and “Land Jihad,” stating that such efforts were necessary to protect the future of Bengal. He further argued that, in his opinion, the long-term future of Hindus could not be secured solely through cultural Hindu nationalism, and advocated the establishment of India as a cultural, constitutional, and sovereign Hindu state.
In informal discussions held on the sidelines of the meeting, Kelkar stated that the activities of the Bharat Raksha Manch enjoy the goodwill and support of Mohan Bhagwat, the Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He also reiterated the organization’s support for the proposal to establish and declare India as a cultural, constitutional, and sovereign Hindu state.
The meeting concluded with several organizational decisions. Among them was a resolution to seek an appointment with the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the submission of a memorandum urging stronger measures to prevent illegal infiltration into the state.
The meeting was attended by Bharat Raksha Manch’s National Convenor, Shri Suryakant Kelkar (Guruji); National General Secretary, Dr. Ashok Acharya; West Bengal Chief Organisation Secretary, Shri Bidyanath Goswami; West Bengal State General Secretary, Shri Anirban Lahiri; Patron BRM West Bengal Chapter Capt. Binoy Tandon ( Navy Veteran), State Executive Committee Member Arkaprabho Choudhuri and West Bengal Joint Organisation Secretary, Shri Abhro Ghosh. Around one hundred key office-bearers and senior functionaries of the Bharat Raksha Manch from across West Bengal also participated in the deliberations.
It was also announced that an extended meeting of the West Bengal chapter of the Bharat Raksha Manch is scheduled to be held at Tarapith (Nirbhim) on September 26–27, where the organization is expected to review its activities and formulate future strategies.
