Upendra Bharti | HENB | Shivpuri | Sept 3, 2026:: Raju Solanki, a resident of Kalipahadi village in Narwar, submitted a formal application to the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of the Municipal Council, along with his associates, alleging that the religious character of an ancient Shiva temple near Duhai Pond in Ward No. 8 had been altered. There is another case of same nature in the ward 12.
According to the application, the idol of Lord Shiva was removed from the temple premises, while the idol of Nandi Maharaj was also displaced.
Narwar is a historic town and tehsil headquarters in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, known for the ancient Narwar Fort, which has historically housed several Hindu temples. Solanki and his associates alleged that Hindu religious sites in the area were gradually being encroached upon as part of what they described as a broader design of Islamisation.
Solanki stated that the alleged alteration of the temple’s religious character had hurt the sentiments of local residents. He questioned why the Narwar administration had remained silent over the matter and why local journalists had not raised their voices on the issue.
He also questioned whether the media had been compromised and urged people not to remain silent any longer. According to him, despite local youths submitting an application to the CMO, no action had been taken so far.
Solanki further claimed that a Trishul (trident) remained on the temple structure, while the idol of Nandi Maharaj was lying outside the premises. He also claimed that video evidence relating to the matter was available.
In a series of videos uploaded to Instagram, Solanki showed what he claimed was a Shiva temple underneath a mosque that was allegedly built there in recent times.
The application additionally alleged that a graveyard had been constructed on adjoining government land through illegal encroachment to widen the scope of Land Jihad.
Solanki demanded a high-level inquiry into the entire matter, legal action against those found responsible, removal of any encroachments from government land, and appropriate measures to maintain law and order in the area.
The allegations are yet to be verified by the authority, and it remains to be seen whether the Narwar administration will initiate an inquiry into the claims and establish the present status and historical character of the disputed site.
