New Delhi: HE News Desk: 23-02-2012:: If the justice delayed, everybody say Justice is denied. But when the justice is delivered in an ambit of satisfying both the oppressors and the sufferers, it is nothing but a rape of jurisprudence. The Supreme Court on Thursday castigated the Delhi Police and yoga guru Ramdev for the midnight violent incident at the Ramlila Maidan last year and said it was a “glaring example of trust deficit” between the people and the government.

A bench of justices B S Chauhan and Swatanter Kumar said that incident showed might of the state which struck at the foundation of democracy.

The bench further observed that the police and the state could have avoided that tragic incident in which one person died and several others were injured.

In this connection, senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani attacked Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday holding him responsible for the police attack on Baba Ramdev on June 4 last year.

Jethmalani, Ramdev’s lawyer in the case held a joint press conference with Baba Ramdev on Thursday after the SC verdict where both Ramdev and Delhi police were held responsible for the Ramlila Grounds crackdown. The senior Supreme Court lawyer questioned why the home minister was not held responsible for the crackdown.

The lawyer for Bharat Swabhimaan Trust further said we did not approach the SC but had presented our case in front of the public. However, he added that he considered the SC verdict as a victory for Baba Ramdev.

Jethmalani said the home minister has no right to decide who qualifies to stage protest and who does not.

Ramdev said he had urged his followers to refrain from any form of violence after the SC held him responsible for the crackdown. The yog guru, too, blamed Chidambaram for the June crackdown in Delhi.

SC verdict on Ramlila crackdown

The Supreme Court has slammed Delhi Police and Ramdev on the midnight crackdown on Ramdev’s followers at Ramlila Maidan on June 4-5 2011 during his anti-corruption agitation.

Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports, purportedly showing brutality of police action against Ramdev’s sleeping followers, including women and children, the Apex Court said it was a “glaring example of trust deficit” between the people and the government.

According to reports, the SC also pulled up Ramdev for his negligence. The court said that Ramdev was wrong in defying orders. “Ramdev should have left venue when it was asked to do so by Delhi Police,” SC said.

The SC also announced joint compensation of Rs 5 lakhs to Rajbala family, Rs 50 thousand to injured and Rs 25 thousand to people getting simple injuries, to be given by Ramdev and Delhi Police. Ramdev’s trust will have to pay 25 per cent of the compensation amount to Rajbala’s family.

It is obvious that the Delhi Police and Central Govt. led by Congress hatched the conspiracy and attack on peaceful Ramdev Supporters. Then WHY BABA RAMDEV have to pay the compensation to the deceased and injured under a justice obviously bad in law?

We should not be happy with this illogical verdict of the SC where Ramdev has also been rebuked . What did he do ? what is his fault ? The barbaric crackdown on sleeping people was a brutal police act involving & blaming Ramdev for this is crazy .. if govt imposes sec 144 & SC as its stooge upholds that then no democratic peaceful protest can take place . This is killing of public voice & democracy .

.All courts including SC is in the clutches of Cong govt , their salaries / perks are after all paid by the govt , all judges are worried about their jobs & post retirement benefits . They dont have the guts to take on the govt at the same time cant ignore the public anger so best thing for them is to do a balancing act by making everybody happy. This is not a judgement but management .

2. COMMENT: Supreme Court on 23 Feb 2012, dressed down the police of Delhi, for its venemently-violent actions at the Ram Lila Maidaan, on the midnight of 4 June last year. By displaying their muscle & might against peaceful protesters, they punched & battered the institution of democracy. One death & several serious injuries that resulted, could have been prevented, if the police had spared the lethality of their force.

3. Attorney Ram jethmalani ( attorney for Baba Ramdev ), firmly implanted responsibility for attack on the people, on P. Chidambaram. Without wavering the least, Jethmalani questioned why SC did not assign responsibility for the attack upon P. Chidambaram. Freedom to protest is inherent in democracy, and Home Minister ( P. Chidambaram ) has no right to determine who can protest and who cannot.

4. Baba Ramdev also blamed Chidambaram for police attack on the attendees. He added that he had told his followers, to refrain from any act of violence, and they did no violence of any kind.

5. Question: Who devised the decision to crack down on Baba Ramdev’s protesters ? Was it Delhi police, or somebody else ?

Answer: You don’t have to be a rocket-scientist to figure out the bits & pieces of this episode. The truth is not that mysterious, and it is not difficult to determine that, decision to crack-down was caused to be delivered, at the highest level of the government. To lay it on the line, it was P. Chidambaram, who cannot be shut out of the responsibility of this thundering-strike.

6. Next question: Why was this brutal-attack upon Ram Dev’s followers considered necessary by the government ?

Answer: Baba Ram Dev is fighting against corruption, his message is spreading, and politicians of Congress don’t savor it. That is why they don’t have a friendly feeling towards, either Ramdev or his followers. That is essentially the reason for a crucial action of this type.

Big Whigs of Congress figure that, pressure of their crackdown on protesters, will splinter & break apart the anti-corruption message of Ramdev. However, this is irrational thinking. Ramdev’s message is not going to go to pieces. Instead of cracking under, his message is going to extend & stretch, and become known to more & more people.

It will not happen by merely encouraging others to do so but doing something ourselves either doing physically or donating. Please contact agniveer.com and volunteer in their work of Shuddhi or donate them. Don’t accept all of their ideologies but contribute to this Shuddhi movement. They are the ones apart from the VHP to bringing the non Hindus especially Muslims back to the Hindu fold.
