Amarnath Yatra Suspended After Baltal Clash, Call for Jammu Bandh.

News Flash (19/7/2014, 3.00 PM IST): It has been reported by our friend Sri Rakesh Gurkha, Founder, IDKPYF (Internally Displaced Kashmiri Pandits Youth Federation) that a huge repercussion has been surfaced in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu Region in protest of attack upon Amarnath Pilgrims at Baltal, yesterday. NH near Amritsar were blocked for hours last evening. Total Bandh in Jammu is being observed today. At about 11 am today a big protest was lashed in Jantar Mantar (New Delhi) ) under the unity of VHP,  Bajranjdal and other pro-Hindu Groups to register Hindu Protest against Islamic menace in Kashmir valley, particularly against the Amarnath pilgrims in a routine fashion. A detailed report is awaited. Sickular (secular) Media is censoring the Hindu Protest undermining the Hindu sentiments. 

Amarnath Yatra suspended after Muslim mob attacked Hindu Pilgrims at Baltal base camp: VHP, Bajrang Dal call Jammu strike today.

HE Media Bureau | Jammu | 19 July 2014:: Protesting against the attack on Hindu Pilgrims by Muslim mob in Baltal base camp of Amarnath yatra on Friday, Vishwa Hindu Parisad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, Jammu & Kashmir Panthers Party, Shiv Sena, Langar Association  has called a ‘bandh’ (strike) in entire Jammu area on Saturday (19-07-2014).

“VHP and Bajrang Dal have announced total strike in Jammu on 19th July to protest against the Baltal clash and failure of the state government to protect pilgrims and infrastructure”, VHP spokesman Rajesh Kumar said in a press meet on Friday evening. This was decided at a meeting of various social, religious and trade bodies headed by VHP state chief Leela Karan  Sharma.

The Amarnath Yatra was suspended through Baltal route on Friday after at least 50 people were injured (seven of them are reported critical)  in police intervention and clashes between two groups following alleged stabbing of a Kashmiri businessman near Baltal base camp. Around 150 tents and bhandara/langar (free food arrangements for pilgrims)  were gutted in fire and 60-70 LPG cylinders exploded. J&K Police  arrested four people including two CRPF men for the violence, as per reports last came in.

Sources said that clashes broke out on Friday near Baltal, the base camp of Amarnath Yatra, after a dispute between pony owners and those running community kitchens (bhandara/langar) and alleged high-handedness by CRPF personnel, leaving at least 5o people injured following which the yatra has been suspended through Baltal route.

The rumour of stabbing could not be verified. But the local sources told HE Media that he violence broke after an altercation between the pony wallas and the workers of a community kitchen late last night at Dumel. The reports said that the Muslim pony wallas had misbehaved with a Hindu yatri which was objected by the workers of a community kitchen and it led to a clash between the two in which one pony walla namely Naib Sadar Khan was injured.

Naib was however given a first aid only at local medical aid centre and later shifted to Soura Medical institute for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable.

Though Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah deputed senior officials in the area, over 100 kilometres southeast of Srinagar, and the situation is told under control, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the Chief Minister over phone about the violence and asked him to  take all necessary steps.

Reacting to the developments, CRPF claimed that 10 community kitchen  were set on fire by protesters resulting in injury to its 12 jawans. The fire from the community kitchen grabbed the near by Yatri Shelters (tents) one after another.  Irritated by the news of alleged stabbing, the huge numbers of Muslim protesters took the roads and started attacking on Hindu Pilgrims, tents and bhandaras. News agencies said the quarrel turned violent after the CRPF tried to intervene for maintaining law and order.

“A law and order situation arose because of some minor squabble between some people in Baltal Yatra camp. The situation has been brought under control. Some civilians and policemen got injured in the incident,” said a J&K police spokesman in a mode of diluting the entire matter. He added some tents and a few bhandaras caught fire, which was brought under control. But situation was very much violent and 150 tents and bhandaras were burnt down, as a reliable source said. Crores of amount invested by the Hindu businessmen for the welfare of the Amarnath pilgrims were damaged and looted by the Kashmiri Muslim ponywallas and public.

Muslim fundamentals have been trying to put various problems for Hindu-Sikh Pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra for several years to stop this Yatra under Jehadi dictum.
