Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | Kathmandu | 02 JAN 2015:: Nepal’s pro-Hindu party RPPN ( Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal ) on Friday asserted that no one could stop the country from turning back into a Hindu nation and accused politicians of advocating secularism under the influence of the West.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of 10-day (24 Dec 2014- 2nd January 2015 ) long “Mechi-Mahakali Chariot Rally (Rayh Yatra) for Hindu Rashtra” in the Capital on Friday, Thapa said there will be third people’s movement if his party’s agenda of Hindu state is not incorporated in the new constitution. He claimed millions of people want to see Nepal as a Hindu state and such desire was reflected through their support to the Chariot rally.
“No one can stop from turning the country into a Hindu state,” claimed Kamal Thapa, the president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N), while addressing a rally of about 10,000 people’s gathering in Kathmandu.
The party concluded the 1,900-km-long Mechi–Mahakali Rath Yatra that began on December 24 from far-east to far-west region of the country. He claimed that the political leaders have been advocating secularism under the influence of western money by misleading the people. Nepal was converted into a secular state from a Hindu nation in 2008 through a Parliament declaration following the abolition of monarchy from the country.
“The new constitution should ensure the identity of a Hindu nation for Nepal,” Thapa said.
“When there are more than 40 Muslim countries and over 70 Christian countries, why can’t Nepal become a Hindu state in today’s world which is home to over 1.8 billion Hindus,” asked Thapa. He also asked political parties to make serious efforts to promulgate the new constitution within the stipulated date of January 22.
The RPP-N organised the nationwide ‘rath yatra’ to exert pressure to reinstate the nation as a Hindu state. He also demanded a provision be made to ban cow slaughtering in the new constitution.
The rally that began from Birtamod in Jhapa went to Mahakali and returned to the Capital via Pokhara and Tahanun. “Millions of people irrespective of their political ideology, castes and religion showed up in the procession,” Thapa said. “They are ready to hit the street if Nepal still remains secular.”
The Unique Starting of RPPN Mechi–Mahakali Shri Pashupatinath Hindu Rashtra Sankalp Rath Yatra.
From the very beginning of its establishment in 2007, the party has been lobbying for Hindu state and monarchy. It has been demanding referendum on the two agendas.
Accusing the major political parties of advocating secularism under the influence of ‘foreign forces’, Thapa said that millions of dollars was invested to turn Nepal a republic nation. Thapa reiterated, ‘if 70 countries in the world are Islamic, 40 Christian and 10 Buddhist, why Nepal with over 81 percent Hindu followers can’t be a Hindu state with its original ambit and natural texture’.
He claimed that after the country adopted secularism, there is a massive mission going on to lure innocent Hindu people into changing their religion.
In his one-hour address, the RPP-N leader invested most of his time claiming that the other parties were a failure. “The major parties must promulgate constitution by January 22. If not, a new force will take their space in adverse,” he said.
The fourth largest party in the Constituent Assembly performed a religious prayer at Pashupatinath for a formal conclusion of the rally on Friday evening.
RPP-N Chief warns that a third and unbelievable mass movement for Hindu state may occur in Nepal, may be violent, if Nepal is not declared as Hindu Rashtra peacefully within 22 January with the revalidation of 2047 BS Constitution (i.e. 1990 AD) of Nepal.

The essences of Nepalese nationalism are- Hinduism, constitutional monarchy and Nepali language. These three are typical identifying symbols of Nepal. Nepalese royal institution basically was known for national unity and patriotism. Nepal’s sovereignty, integrity and national pride were addressed by monarchy. Nepal is not only an ancient sovereign country but also a Hindu Kingdom in the world. The small and pious Hindu and Buddha country, Nepal always seeks a permanent, loyal and respected permanent institution–the monarchy. Any student of political science should agree with me that the strategic and Geo-socio-political situation of Nepal mandatory demands the existence of monarchical institution in the country. The monarchy and Hindu Kingdom both are inter-related identified symbols of Nepal. Our concern is national stability, unity and complete democracy.
Since 2006, Nepal’s situation has been gradually deteriorated. This is because our basic foundations are violated; consequently national unity and sustainable peace has not been achieved. The constitution is non-functional with the annulment of the constitution of 1990 that was suddenly suspended without any reason. The country has been unconstitutionally declared so called republic and secular state. This is in fact, foremost cause of the deteriorated situation of the country. So, Hindu Kingdom and constitutional monarchy must be in existence in Nepal.
Thank you
