Naga Sadhus, Hindu Saints and the aggrieved Hindus may start Nationwide ‘Rail Roko’ and ‘Kumbh Chalo-Ticket Checker ko Jai Shri Ram Bolo’ against Kumbh Railway fare hike.
After Pushkaralu, Hindus are extruded by hike in railway fare for Kumbh Mela at Nashik.

It’s nobody but BJP is extruding extra Railway fare from the poor and innocent Hindu pilgrims going to the Simhastha Kumbh now in full swing in Nashik, Maharashtra. In the same old fashion of Congress to charge extra fare from the Hindu pilgrims in Kumbh, Pushakaralu, Amarnath, Puri or Gangasagar by the Indian Railway, this BJP Government is also collecting ‘Jizya Tax’. Mughals enjoyed it as ‘Live Tax’ on Hindus, British continued it in the name of development of pilgrimage, but what is the clarification by BJP in Centre or in Maharashtra? It has been observed that the elected representatives of people are unaware of increase in fare implemented by Railway on the occasion of Simhastha Kumbh Parva.
Owing to such increase in fare, Hindu devotees will have to spend more money on this pilgrimage. Elected representatives were contacted to know their opinion on such hike in fare when it was observed that they were not aware of the hike. A senior elected representative touring the district was asked about the exploitation of devotees through such hike, he said, “I have not received any information on this subject. I will gather detailed information and tell you. If there is such hike, we will meet the concerned persons and force to withdraw such hike.”
Another representative said, “I haven’t read about it anywhere; but if it is so, we will talk to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for immediate cancellation of such hike.”
Another elected representative holding high post in the organization when contacted, listened to what was told to him and said that he would contact in half an hour; but he has not contacted so far on his own.
If elected representatives show such indifference towards financial exploitation of Hindus, it would not be possible to stop the increase in fares, stated devotees. ‘It is not enough to express worry; but the concerned persons should be taken to task, in lawful manner !’, says a Hindu devotee.
Railway Administration has fixed rates of tickets for ‘Simhastha’ special long-distance trains like for ‘tatkal’ booking system; therefore, devotees will have to shell out Rs. 175 to 420 more for ‘Simhastha’ special trains as compared to usual trains. Besides, any devotee booking railway ticket from Nashik for any train, will have to pay Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 more than the usual rate.
Extra fare charged in Mumbai : Millions of Hindu devotees will visit Nashik for ‘Simhastha Parva’ and to facilitate the devotees to go to Nashik, railway administration has announced 15 additional trains; besides increasing fare. Difference between fares for ‘Simhastha’ special trains and regular trains will be about Rs. 175 to Rs. 420. Any ticket for any train booked from Nashik will cost Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 more than the usual fare. Such decision is a ploy to impose restrictions on Hindus from celebrating their religious festivals and is quite infuriating.
The Government should immediately withdraw increase in railway fares implemented on the occasion of ‘Simhastha Parva’ is our persistent demand. Pro-Hindu organizations will stage agitations if the Government did not cancel the increase in fares immediately.
This is the same story in other destinations from where Hindus are going to Nashik Kumbh Parva.
The Role of Railway for Hindu Pilgrimage : For the convenience of the pilgrims in various Hindu congregations like Kumbh, Pushkaralu, Tirumala, Sabarimala, Pushkar, Gangasagar, Indian Railways arrange special trains for the destinations with a ‘skeleton’ public help desks and temporary sheds in some Rly stations.
And for these cause, the Railway authorities collects huge ‘extra charges’ from the poor and innocent Hindu pilgrims as ‘hidden charges’, but it is never spent to the welfare of the pilgrims on spot nor any other development work for that pilgrimage spot.
Once the Britishers, afterwards the Congress controlled the Central and State power simultaneously. Naturally, they had the scope to share the collected Rly surcharges on pilgrimage each other trickully. But, after the introduction of the alliance Govt in Delhi and heterogeneous power sharing in the State and Central politics, the Railway possesses the whole collected surcharges from the Hindu pilgrims without spending it for the development of the pilgrimage sites or for the better amenities for the pilgrims gathered there.
On, the contrary, during the annual Urs of Ajmer (Rajasthan) or Haji Mastan (Mumbai), the same Indian Railway arrange special trains but do not collect any extra fare from the passengers on Urs (Islamic Anniversaries).
This discrimination and defalcation of money (Railway surcharges collected from Hindu pilgrimage) may be the largest scam for the post independence in relation to extrusion of Hindu pilgrims.
The State Administration should not encourage new customs and traditions under politics. Government must withdraw excesses Rly fare charged on Hindu pilgrims unethically. – Mahant Harigiriji Maharaj.
Hindu Saints are mostly disgusted by the BJP Role: Hindu Saints present in Nashik ask, “Will the State Administration dare to interfere in religious festivals of non-Hindus ?”
Mahant Harigiriji Maharaj, ‘Rashtriya Sanrakshak’ of ‘Juna akhada’ expressed a view that the State Administration should not encourage new customs and traditions on the occasion of ‘Kumbh-Parva’.
He said, “A day before ‘Simhastha’ was to start, ‘puja’ was performed at Nashik and flag hoisted at 6.40 a.m. Then on 16th July, what was the occasion for hoisting flags at Kavanai ? It is wrongly propagated that the original place of ‘Simhastha’ is Kavanai. ‘Kumbh-parva’ is held only at 4 places in the country, media is wrongly propagating that at many places, ‘Kumbh-Parva’ is held. The Government should not encourage such new customs.”
We have no objection to give time to ‘Sadhvi Trikalabhavanta’ for holy bath ! But Why extra railway fare upon the common people coming to Kumbh?
Sadhvi Trikalabhavanta had asked for time for holy bath at Trimbakeshwar. On this issue, Mahant Harigiriji Maharaj said, “We have no objection to Government allocating time to Sadhvi Trikalabhavanta for holy bath at Trimbakeshwar during holy bath of devotees; after holy bath of all ten ‘akhadas’ is over. The order of taking holy bath is being followed for hundreds of years and timing of holy bath of certain ‘akhadas’ are reserved. It will be the decision of administration whether to allow other to have holy bath during the reserved timings. Sadhvi Trikalabhavanta is not associated with any ‘akhada’. But, the State Administration should not encourage new customs and traditions under politics. But why the Government levied extra railway fare upon the common people coming to Kumbh? HJS submits representation with demand to cancel fare hike for Kumbh: Delegation of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a representation to the District Collector demanding cancellation of increase in railway fare which was accepted by Dy. District Collector Jitendra Kakuste.
It has been warned in the representation that HJS would stage intense agitation along with other pro-Hindu organizations if the increase in fare was not immediately withdrawn.
Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, the State Convener of HJS for Maharashtra, H.B.P. Sampatrao Dhongade, Nashik District President of Maharashtra Rajya Warkari Mahamandal, Shri. Manoj Joshi – VHP’s City-Minister, Shri. Rhushikesh Pathak – advocate and member of VHP, Shri. Karan Singh Raje Bavari – President of ‘Yuva Hindu Ekata Andolan’, Shri. Manohar Jadhav and Shri. Shivaji Ugale of HJS were present on the occasion.
Similar representation was sent to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
- Points raised by Hindus and their demands
* Is the Government trying to create obstacles through such hike in fare instead of providing facilities to devotees coming for ‘Simhastha Parva’ from all over the country ?
* On one hand, the Government extends several facilities to Haj pilgrims; provides special medical facility; whereas it is imposing restrictions on Hindu devotees. Instead of providing facilities, increasing fares on the occasion of Hindus’ festivals, is most inappropriate.
* It is expected that all are done justice under the secular governance; but it does not seem to happen in case of Hindus.
* Hindus have to undertake pilgrimages as if they are slaves in their own country. All those responsible for increase in fare on the occasion of Hindus’ pilgrimage should be punished.
The Ultimatum from the Sadhu Samaj and Hindu Samaj : As per report, many top Saints of various Akhadas present in Nashik Kumbh and the aggrieved Hindus have decided to launch Nationwide ‘Rail Roko’ (Rail obstruction) and ‘Kumbh Chalo-Ticket Checker ko Jai Shri Ram Bolo’ (Move Kumbh without ticket) as a protest against the discriminatory, unjustified and anti-Hindu Railway fare hike, if such hike is not withdrawn within 72 hours. The situation may be beyond control if the Revered Naga Sadhus come out for the agitation.

the main difference between other faiths and hinduism is that hindus dont resort to violence on hearing such news. while other faiths will burn the trains on levying of such taxes. hindus should also learn something about controlled violence as sometimes shiv sena or mns do. these tactics are very effective.
