Ghulam Ali’s concert in Mumbai cancelled after Hindu threat of Shiv Sena to curb Islamic terrorism.

A sign of strong Hindu Sentiment that is not seen in BJP. 

Shiv Sena threatened to stage a protest during the performance of leading Pakistan singer Ghulam Ali on October 9, holding it will oppose cultural and sporting relations with the neighbouring country so long as it refused to curb Islamic terrorism. Ghulam Ali never protested  Islamic Terrorism. Not the menace of Pakistan against India.

PTI | Mumbai | Oct 7, 2015:: Following threats by Shiv Sena, the Ghulam Ali concert, scheduled to be held in Mumbai on October 9, has been cancelled. The Sena, earlier on Wednesday, threatened to stage a protest during the performance of the leading Pakistan singer at Shanmughananda Hall, holding it will oppose cultural and sporting relations with the neighbouring country so long as it refused to curb terrorism.

In a letter to the management of the Shamughananda Hall, Shiv Sena’s film wing “Chitrapat Sena” said if it went ahead with the programme featuring the artist from Pakistan they would have to face the “anger of Shiv Sena and the patriotic people.”

“Through this letter, we want to convey to you that if you invite Pakistan artist to the show you will have to face the Shiv Sena’s wrath… Which is why we ask you to prohibit the Pakistan artist from coming to the programme, or else you will have to face the anger of Shiv Sena’s and the patriotic people of the country,” Chitrapat Sena Vibhag Pramukh Mangesh Satamkar said in his letter.

He said it has been a long standing stand of Shiv Sena that until the neighbouring country stopped terrorism activities there should be no cultural, sporting and political relations with Pakistan.

The BJP which rules the state in alliance with the Shiv Sena distanced itself from the threat with CM Fadnavis offering full protection to the event.

“What the Sena is doing with Ghulam Ali is absolutely wrong. People like him must be kept above and beyond borders,” union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

The Sena said it was opposing the “terrorism spread by Islamabad” and that was not against the singer.

A Shiv Sena leader reportedly told officials that at a time when “Pakistan has targeted Indian soldiers, decapitated them and returned their headless bodies, India should not be enjoying cultural relations with them.”

“We are not opposing Ghulam Ali but opposing terrorism by Pakistan. Shiv Sena is against keeping any relations with Pakistan till the time they stop terrorism,” Sena leader Sanjay Raut said.
