Need to root out Islamic terrorism, says Dr Subramanian Swamy.

PTI | Thane | Nov 21, 2016:: BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Sunday demanded a definite policy to fight “Islamic terrorism” which, he said, was responsible for polarising communities and creating chaos in country. “Islamic terrorism is making every attempt to create chaos and anarchy in the country and bring about differences among communities. We had successfully fought LTTE, Bodo, Naxals…and in the same manner we should fight and root out Islamic terrorism from country,” he said.

He was delivering the last lecture in the VD Sawarkar Lecture Series on the topic “Terrorism in the Country”.

He claimed that the Islamic State is now active in southern states of country “which needs to be tackled with definite policy”.

Swamy claimed that he had pushed for Bharat Ratna award for ‘Sardar’ Vallabhbhai Patel in 1991 when Chandra Shekhar was the Prime Minister. “Congress had not done anything in this regard in their tenure,” he said.

Welcoming the demonetisation decision, Swamy said the results of the exercise would be visible after some time.

“One of the major achievements of the move is that the counterfeit notes which were in circulation in Kashmir have vanished and life has come to normal in that state,” he said.

He said demonetisation was overall a good move even as he conceded that Finance Ministry was “not prepared” for such a big exercise and ATMs were not calibrated for the new Rs 2000 notes.
