Indrani Bagchi | TNN | New Delhi | March 1, 2017:: Pakistan’s terror ‘monster’ is now devouring its creator, India has said. Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Ajit Kumar, India’s permanent representative at the world body said, “during last two decades the world’s most wanted terrorists found succor and sustenance in Pakistan.”
“Pakistan has created terrorist groups against India, these monsters are now devouring its creator,” Kumar said at the ongoing UNHRC session. Pakistan’s references to UNSC resolutions were misleading as they were required to vacate Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under illegal and forced occupation, he said.
Terrorism, Kumar said, is the “grossest violation of human rights. It is unfortunate that Pakistan’s trust in the methods of terror are so deep that it does not hesitate from using them on its own people in Baluchistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as tribal areas in its northwest. While advocating restraint to others, it has no hesitation in using air power against its own people. This, coupled with the utter disregard for the human rights of religious and sectarian minorities has turned Pakistan into the true epicenter of global terror.”
“The basic reason for disturbance in most parts Jammu and Kashmir is the cross-border terrorism aided and abetted by Pakistan,” he said. The already volatile situation along the line of control (LoC) escalated after India conducted the surgical strikes in response to the Uri terror attack in September 29, last year. Out of the 151 incidents of ceasefire violations on the LoC in 2016, 110 of them have happened since September, he said.
