Upendra Bharti | HENB | Kolkata | July 5, 2017:: The TMC (Total Muslim Congress in the name of Trinamoool Congress) on Wednesday launched a fresh attack on West Bengal Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi, accusing him of “crossing” all constitutional limits and reminding him that the Raj Bhavan “could not be the party office of the BJP”.
The party’s criticism of the governor comes a day after chief minister Mamata Banerjee accused Tripathi of threatening her and acting like a “BJP block president”. The party supremo said she even thought of quitting office over this “humiliation”. Not only that Mamata remarked that, the Central Govt has a lynching policy on Cow matters making a hatred group.
Speaking to reporters, TMC Secretary General Partha Chatterjee charged, “The governor has crossed the constitutional line. The way he spoke to the chief minister yesterday, he has forgotten that it is not Uttar Pradesh.”
Chatterjee also said that the official residence of the governor could not be the party office of the BJP.
“He is the ex-speaker of the (UP) assembly. As a lawyer he must be aware of the observation of the Supreme Court (on the relation) between the chief minister and the governor… So whatever he has said is an insult to the people of West Bengal,” he charged.
The unprecedented spat between the chief minister and the governor came as one sided Islamic attacks on Hindus broke out in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on the night of July 3 following an “objectionable” Facebook post. The Central government rushed in 400 BSF troopers to assist the local administration in controlling the situation.
Chatterjee said that the party has already written to President Pranab Mukherjee stating that “this is unbecoming of a governor”.
A copy of the letter to the president was forwarded to Home Minister Rajnath Singh, he said.
But, as a matter of fact, it is difficult to get any substance from the official version of Trinamool Congress or the ‘habitual liar’ WB CM Mamata Banerjee, as the official Press Release from WB Governor’s house completely rejected the baseless allegation of Mamata Banerjee on July 4.
The WB Governor’s press release says, ” The Hon’ble Governor is surprised at the attitude and language used by the Hon’ble Chief Minister during the Press conference today. The talks between the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Hon’ble Governor were confidential in nature and none is expected to disclose it. However, there was nothing in the talks for which the Hon’ble Chief Minister may have felt insulted, threatened or humiliated. The Hon’ble Governor dis say to the The Hon’ble Chief Minister to ensure peace and law and order by all means. The Hon’ble Governor always holds the persons, who occupy the constitutional position, in high esteem.
“The Hon’ble Governor, being the Head of the State, is the guardian of all the citizens of the State and not of any particular party or section of society. It is proper for the The Hon’ble Governor to bring to the notice of the The Hon’ble Chief Minister any serious grievance made by any members of public or any serious event happening in the State. The Hon’ble Governor cannot remain a mute spectator of the affairs in the state.”
Now, it is crystal clear that The Hon’ble Governor took timely cognizance for Baduria communal violence started by a huge Jihadi mob. The Jihadi miscreants attacked not only the vulnerable Hindu people of Baduria, Keosha, Rudrapur, Gopalpur, Mogra, Ramchandrapur, Bagjora, they also attacked the police personnel on duty and torched a dozen of police vehicle.
It was an utter failure of Mamata Banerjee, who is eventually in-charge of Home and Police Department who could not control a day long Jihadi violence at Badurial which made the WB Governor to intervene into the matter.
As, WB Governor Tripathi requested the Central Govt in its Home Ministry to rush paramilitary forces to control the situation in a bordering area of West Bengal that indicated the callousness of the state govt to control the Jihadi people, as well as the failure to save the vulnerable Hindu minorities in the state of WB where Muslims are majority.
On Wednesday, after the attack made by TMC Gen Secy and State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on WB Governor, the Governor’s office again expressed its sharp reaction. West Bengal Governor opined, “Accusations against me bid to cover lapses, divert attention”+.
The Raj Bhavan said the Governor was aware of his constitutional obligations and needed no lesson from anyone on the subject.
“The Governor has been apprised of the statement of Partha Chatterjee, Education Minister, and regrets to say that this is an attempt to cover the lapses of the state government and divert the attention from the main issue of law and order.
“The Governor is fully aware of his constitutional obligations and limitations and needs no lesson from anyone on this count,” it said.
On Banerjee and her ministers’ contention that the Chief Minister was democratically elected while the Governor was only nominated, the Raj Bhavan said: “It should not be forgotten that the Governor is also appointed by the President on the recommendation of a democratically elected Union Government.”
“In fact, the allegations of the Chief Minister amount to insulting and humiliating the Governor and his Office.”
Countering Chatterjee’s allegation that the Raj Bhavan had become a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) den, the release said: “The Governor is of the view that Raj Bhavan is not a department of the state government and it is open to every citizen to approach him for redressal of his or her grievances.
“It is wrong to say that Raj Bhavan has become the office of the BJP or the RSS (Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh).”
The Governor also reiterated that he did not utter a single word to “insult or threaten” the Chief Minister.
Most of the liberal Bengali people are thankful to Governor Tripathi, so that he did not really remain a ‘mute spectator’ after seeing an Islamic culpability made by the Mamata Govt under its Muslim appeasement policy.
Bengal people are thankful to Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi exposed the Jihadi face of Mamata Banerjee. Tripathi has set an exemplary role to maintain safety and security of vulnerable people within his constitutional limits.
