Tridev Pratihar | HENB | Patna | July 27, 2019:: A petition was filed in court against 49 eminent citizens, who had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over ‘selective and encrypted’ mob lynching, increasing intolerance and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ war cry.
In a petition filed in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Muzaffarpur (Bihar), petitioner Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha alleged that the 49 signatories to the letter had, by their act tarnished the image of the country and undermining the impressive performance of the Prime Minister.
They are also alleged to have supported separatists and hurting religious feelings. In the petition, Ojha also named actress Kangana Ranaut, Prasoon Joshi and others, who were among 62 high-profile personalities to counter the letter, to be included as witnesses. The petition requested the court to charge the 49 citizens with sedition and other attracted position and provision as per law.
According to Ojha, the 49 signatories by their act had tarnished the image of the country by undermining the “impressive performance of the Prime Minister” apart from “supporting secessionist tendencies” and hurting the Hindu sentiment by defiling the Jai Shri Ram slogan.
The matter is likely to come up for hearing on August 3, as derived from a posting made by the petitioner advocate in his FaceBook timeline.
On Tuesday, July 23, 49 personalities, including eminent filmmakers Mani Ratnam, Anurag Kashyap, Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Binayak Sen and Aparna Sen as well as vocalist Shubha Mudgal and historian Ramchandra Guha, had expressed deep concern at the increasing number of “religious identity-based hate crimes”.
These pro-Left, pro-Naxalite, pro-Hurriyat and proIslamist personalities had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing their concerns over growing cases of lynchings and suppression of dissent. They narrated, calling ‘Jai Shri Ram’ a provocative war cry with many lynching incidents taking place in its name they urged “exemplary punishment” against the mob lynching accused.
To counter their open letter to the PM, 62 intellectuals, including lyricist Prasoon Joshi, actor Kangana Ranaut, singer Malini Awasthi, classical dancer Sonal Mansingh, instrumentalist Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, directors Vivek Agnihotri & Madhur Bhandarkar, Panoon Kashmir activist Ashoke Pandit responded with a counter statement yesterday accusing them of “selective outrage and false narratives”.
“It (the July 23 letter) is aimed at tarnishing India’s international standing and to negatively portray the prime minister’s untiring efforts to effectuate governance on the foundations of positive nationalism and humanism which is the core of Indianness,” the statement read.
The signatories to the ‘open letter’ were also blamed for remaining silent when tribals and the marginalized became victims of Naxal terror and when separatists issued orders to burn schools in Kashmir demanding to dismember India.
They were also blamed for their disdain for the Hindu faith which is followed by the majority in India.
Eminent Hindustani instrumentalist Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt expressed his grave concern for the attempt to defame the holy name of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as perpetrated by the 49 celebs in their letter against the faith of majority people of India.
Filmmakers Ashoke Pandit and Madhur Bhandarkar further called the open letter an attempt to “defame the nation.”
Pandit went a step ahead and accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of planting the letter to create restlessness as more than half of the signatories are from her state.
From a source it is known that Hindu interlocutor and Hindu existence Web Editor, Upananda Brahmachari is ready to support the instant case as filed by Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha, intellectually and financially.
Brahmachari advised Advocate Ojha to raise the question in the case why the 49 accused persons did not mention ‘Allah-ho-Akbar’ as a war-cry, when the whole world is seeing that the Talibans, LeT, IS and all other Jihadis kill the non-Muslims shouting Allah-ho-Akbar. Why this gang of 49 only treat ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as war-cry?
Brahmachari told HENB that India must stop ‘Allah-ho-Akbar’ war-cry from the mosques five times in a day. This is against peace and prosperity of this country.
