Some of the edicts of Emperor Ashoka were in Brahmi which could be read like Sanskrit. Our spiritual texts were written in Sanskrit similar to Devnagri script. Holy Gita is scripted in Sanskrit and so were Vedas, Upanishads. Sanskrit was perfected by Grammarian Panini about 500 years BC making it the mother of the Indo European group of languages. These European languages including Slavic, German and even Greek and Latin languages and back home almost all dialects and Indian languages have original or derived words from Sanskrit. Other languages which were in use in ancient times in reading and writing were Prakariti, Pali, Tankri, Maghadi (मगधी) Brahmi. The six great philosophies of Hindus were authored by great sages like Kapil, Gautam, Gemini, Adi Shankara and many more. These languages including Sanskrit can be attributed divine sanction. Credit goes to our sages, our ancient Emperors, Puranas, Shastras, rock edicts, tablets, Smritis, Srutis, the Greek historians, Greek philosophers on visit to India, the Chinese and Tibetan records and Ceylon chronicles, European travellers, British historian and explorers, This language legacy of ancient India is preserved by the Hindus with great care.

European philosophers, American writers like Emerson and numerous scholars of Buddhist East Asian countries who have kept our rich spiritual and glorious past alive and safe. The divine spiritual and highly evolved socio, economic cultural civilization of India started dwindling after nomadic attacks on India due to political fragmentation and resultant introduction of terrible customs of Sati, casteism, introduction of abuses, vandalism all due to invasions and nomadic customs of invaders including female infanticide. Our spoken, written and unspoken languages survive despite massive efforts to ruin these. Our enemies have not been able to get rid of our ancient languages in speaking however have changed their spiritual identity. Victory of Dharma over evil is certain but only with harmony, truth, justice and determination of good deeds or Karma called Supreme.
