Demonizing Gandhi in Hindu Mahasabha’s Durga Puja in Kolkata.

We are non-believers in Gandhian idealism and don’t consider him a Father of the Nation who caused the fatal partition of India: Chandrachud Goswami.

Swati Pal Choudhury | HENB | Kolkata | Oct 3, 2022:: Mahatma Gandhi was not shown as a ‘demon’. The similarity with him is purely coincidental. Chandrachud Goswami, the organizer of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha’s Durga Puja in South Kolkata’s Ruby Park, says this in the face of controversy. He claimed to be the state president of that organization. This is their first puja. And the controversy around that puja started from Sunday. Pictures of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha Durga Puja at Ruby Park went viral on social media on Sunday. It has been seen in that picture that the demon with the Durga idol is similar in appearance to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

Incidentally, the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated across the country on Sunday. The day has been celebrated internationally as the Day of Non-Violence since 2007. In this atmosphere, the controversy surrounding the puja of Ruby Park reached its peak. Some police action has already been seen to  this. In the face of controversy, Chandrachud, the organizer of the puja, told HENB , “There is a similarity between the idol of demon at the feet of Ma Durga and the image of gandhi. But Gandhi was not shown as a demon. The match is purely coincidental.” He explained, ”I am not denying it either, I or we do not accept Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi as the father of the nation or the creator of the nation. We respect Netaji. I also challenged the honorable Prime Minister yesterday as he claimed to have carried his prime ministership for eight years under Gandhi’s inspiration. It’s unbelievable. We are non-believers in Gandhian idealism and don’t consider him a Father of the Nation anyway who caused the fatal partition of India.”

In defense of his opinion, Chandrachud claims, “Gandhi’s name is involved in bringing the identity of freedom fighters before the police, in expelling Netaji from the Congress. Gandhi also played a very nefarious role in the hanging of Bhagat Singh. Why is he going to be the father of the nation? This holy land has its 30-40 thousand years old tradition. Why Gandhi  is to be considered as the father of nation where Ramachandra, Krishna, Chaitanyadev  and Ramakrishna  born on this land? We have said this clearly, in unequivocal terms. It is not fair that a  bald man with spectacles will become Gandhi. See our asura is also holding a dhal (shield). Gandhi never held a dhal. Rather he always demoralized Hindus from being militant for self protection. Then, why so much controversy about him? But 99.99 percent people who visited our pandal told us it as a very good job. We are Netaji lovers. We hate Gandhi. It is unfortunate that a complaint has been filed against me. I’m not afraid of it at all. We have not changed idols. The police came and brought a potter and put a wig and mustache on the idol of demon. This change was made against our opinion.”

Chandrachud also claimed that permission has been taken from the concerned authorities including the police, electricity department and municipality for the puja after completing all formalities.

The purohit (priest) of the puja, Mahant Sundar Giri maharaj (also the president of ABHM, WB) told HENB that in a firm resolution they wanted to break the myth of Gandhi as a ‘Mahatma’ who did unaccountable sins for the Nation by humiliating and  endangering Hindus throughout his lifetime.

WB State BJP President, Sukanta Majumder and TMC Spokesperson, Kunal Ghosh locked their horns in the matter and both condemned the ABHM’s act.

   Don’t blame one person for the partition. Why? First; the Chattryas were
   divided and many were traitors. This was the weakness of Bharat. In this
   situation the invader who had the weapons and army had tried to split
   India into pieces. Akhand Bharat was too dangerous for them. The barbaric
   invaders with their uncivilized cultures and the Europeans with their Vatican
   doctrine came for loot and destruction. The present Indian society is still not
   recovered from this damage. Secondly; the foreign convention schooling
   system has to be banned. Instead India must accept the GURUKUL system,
   a much better system, giving the students the full possibility to develop
   their quality/talent. Thirdly; since independent the Hindus had allowed the country to be ruled by Congress party – an anti-Hindu organization. They had created the Congressy-Nehru constitution and flag giving the uncivilized war-losers the same right as the Victor. This was an insult towards the HEROES
   who had laid down their lives in fighting the enemies. This has to be changed.
   Restore Sanatan Bharat Desh, Akhand Bharat, and Bharat Sarkar must start his work with PUJA PATH with respect for the DEVIS/DEVTAS of BHARAT.
