Sabita Singh | HENB | Nagpur | Dec 11, 2024:: “The Foreign Secretary is on a visit to Bangladesh, let’s hope we arrive at a solution through dialogue. Other options can be explored too,” said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s akhil bharatiya prachar pramukh, Sunil Ambekar, at a mammoth rally here organised by a Sangh-backed Hindutva outfit against atrocities on Hindus.

Ambekar said India cannot depend on outside agencies like the UN for a solution. “The Kashmir issue kept hanging at the UN for years, till the govt finally abolished Article 370. Outsiders will not resolve our problems, we ourselves need to take a step forward,” he said.

Thousands attended the rally at Variety Square here, which was organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj to protest against atrocities on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. As prachar pramukh, Ambekar heads the RSS’ outreach wing and it’s rare for a senior RSS functionary to address a public rally.

The arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das shows the Bangladesh constitution is not being followed in the country. “When he raised concern, the Hindu monk was put behind bars. Even people who came to meet him were arrested, and the lawyer who fought his case was brutally assaulted,” said Ambekar.

He said Hindus of Bangladesh, however, have set a strong example by deciding not to flee. “Their life is in danger, but they realised running away is not the solution. ‘Jo dar gaya woh mar gaya’ (If you fear, you are dead). They also realised they are all vulnerable, hence we have come together for their cause,” he said, adding India stands with not only Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh, but also those facing atrocities in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“The events in Bangladesh leave us angry, not just disappointed. The world should know that Hindus are outraged and stand with their brethren in neighbouring countries,” he said. For a while, visuals of violence in Bangladesh forced us to doubt whether these are recent events or brutalities committed during the Mughal period, he said. Similar rallies are being held across the country, including in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

Ambekar said perpetrators should not feel that what happens in Bangladesh or elsewhere does not make any difference to Hindus, as he called upon Dhaka not to take the warning from India lightly. There are certain elements acting against interests of Hindus and want to destabilise the conditions in India and neighbouring countries like Bangladesh. It’s time to topple them and expose their activities, he said.
