Indore Woman Alleges ‘Love Jihad’, Seeks Return to Hometown.

Hindu Woman from Indore  Accuses Muslim Husband of ‘Love Jihad’, Alleges Pressure For  Beef Eating & Forced Convertion. 

Upendra Bharti  | HENB | Begusarai (Bihar) | July 7, 2025:: Aarti Kumari, a Hindu woman from Indore, has accused her Muslim husband, Mohammad Shahbaz, of ‘love jihad’. She claims that Shahbaz forced her to eat beef and convert her religion after marriage. The couple met on Facebook and married five years ago in Begusarai, Bihar.

Allegations of Mistreatment

Aarti alleges that Shahbaz introduced himself as a gold and silver trader on Facebook but in reality, he runs a flowers and garland shop. She claims he pressured her to eat beef, deleted pictures of Hindu gods from her phone, and physically assaulted her when she refused. Aarti also states that Shahbaz mistreated her and eventually told her he no longer wanted to keep her.

Counter-Accusations

Shahbaz denies the allegations, claiming Aarti was previously married with three children and had undergone an operation. He alleges she has relations with other men and has run away from home three times in five years.

Police Intervention

Aarti approached the Begusarai police, requesting to be sent back to Indore. Although she didn’t file an FIR against Shahbaz, the police conducted a medical examination. The Sadar DSP, Subodh Kumar, confirmed Aarti’s request and stated that she has been sent to a women’s shelter. The process of sending her back home is currently underway.

This incident isn’t isolated, as Indore has seen other cases of ‘love jihad’. In one instance, a Muslim youth was caught with a Hindu girl, and it was discovered that he had introduced himself with a fake name. In another case, a private college chairman was accused of ‘love jihad’ by his wife, who claimed he forced her to convert.

Broader Implications

In India, many Hindu girls and women allegedly fall prey to ‘Love Jihad’, facing mistreatment and exploitation at the hands of their Muslim partners. Many of them are reportedly sold into brothels or subjected to practices like Talaq or Halala.
