Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | New Delhi | May 23, 2026:: A new nationwide platform aimed at documenting and addressing anti-Hindu hate incidents has been launched in the United Kingdom, as concerns grow over rising religiously motivated offences and the lack of formal reporting mechanisms for Hindu communities.
The initiative, known as the Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor, has been introduced by the International Centre for Sustainability (ICfS). The online reporting system is designed to record both digital and physical incidents targeting Hindus across Britain, offering victims and witnesses a dedicated channel to report abuse, discrimination, harassment, and hate crimes.
The launch comes at a time when faith-based hostility is increasingly drawing public attention across the UK. According to figures cited by the BBC from the Metropolitan Police, 1,023 religion-related hate crimes were recorded in London between January and April this year, compared to 839 during the same period last year — a sharp increase that has intensified debate over religious intolerance and community safety.
Developers of the Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor say the project was created after researchers identified a major gap in Britain’s hate crime infrastructure: the absence of any nationwide mechanism specifically dedicated to tracking anti-Hindu incidents.
The platform allows individuals to submit reports through a structured online form, enabling researchers and policymakers to gather more accurate and consistent data on anti-Hindu hostility. Organisers believe such documentation is essential for understanding the true scale of the issue, which many community leaders argue has long been underreported.
Ornicha Daorueng, one of the developers behind the initiative, said the lack of reliable reporting data has made it difficult for authorities and researchers to properly assess the extent of anti-Hindu hate in Britain.
“This platform has been developed to help address that gap by creating a dedicated reporting route, improving the quality and consistency of data collection, and building a better understanding of anti-Hindu hate in the UK,” she said in comments reported by the BBC.
She further stressed that without dependable statistics and documentation, governments and institutions struggle to formulate effective policy responses.
The Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor was developed with support from the Community Security Trust (CST), a well-known British charity that operates a long-established reporting and security network focused on antisemitic incidents.
Project researchers noted that while Hindu communities represent one of Britain’s largest religious groups, many incidents involving anti-Hindu abuse or discrimination are either poorly documented or overlooked in broader discussions surrounding hate crime policy.
Advocates of the new monitoring system say the initiative could help provide clearer visibility into patterns of abuse, improve victim support systems, and encourage greater cooperation between communities, law enforcement agencies, and policymakers.
The launch has received support from local political representatives and community leaders. London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, Krupesh Hirani described the platform as “an important and much-needed step forward for Hindu communities, including here in Harrow.”
His remarks reflect growing calls among sections of the British Hindu community for stronger recognition of religiously motivated hostility and improved mechanisms for reporting and addressing such incidents.
The emergence of the Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor also feeds into a wider national conversation in the UK surrounding religious intolerance, online radicalisation, and community cohesion. Experts say social media abuse, misinformation campaigns, and geopolitical tensions have increasingly spilled over into local communities, contributing to heightened interfaith anxieties.
Researchers involved in the initiative argue that better data collection could not only help identify trends in anti-Hindu hostility but also support broader efforts to combat all forms of religious hate crime in Britain.
As the platform begins operations, its organisers hope it will encourage more victims and witnesses to come forward, ultimately helping authorities and policymakers gain a clearer understanding of challenges faced by Hindu communities across the UK.
The launch of the Anti-Hindu Hate Monitor in the United Kingdom has also sparked calls for similar initiatives in countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, the United States, and Canada, where concerns over anti-Hindu discrimination, targeted violence, vandalism of temples, online abuse, and religious intolerance have increasingly been raised by community organisations and human rights observers. Advocates argue that many incidents involving Hindus in these countries remain underreported or inadequately documented, making it difficult for policymakers and law enforcement agencies to assess the true scale of the problem. Supporters of such monitoring systems believe dedicated reporting platforms could improve data collection, strengthen victim support, encourage accountability, and help authorities develop more effective responses to religious hate crimes targeting Hindu communities.
