Upendra Bhari | HENB | Nagpur, Maharashtra | June 16, 2026:: Two Muslim men have been arrested in Nagpur after a 24-year-old married woman lodged a complaint alleging rape, blackmail, extortion, and forced religious conversion, police officials said. A third accused named in the First Information Report (FIR) remains absconding, and efforts are underway to locate him.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ayyaz Taj Madare and Ameen Shaikh. Police are also searching for Hazrat Maulana, a resident of Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, who has been named in the complaint.
According to police, the complainant alleged that Madare, a former school acquaintance, re-established contact with her under the pretext of assisting her in resolving a property dispute. She claimed that during a meeting at a hotel in February 2025, she was allegedly administered an intoxicating substance, after which compromising photographs and videos were recorded without her consent.
The woman further alleged that the accused subsequently used the material to blackmail her, threatening to circulate the videos publicly and share them with her husband, who is currently posted outside Nagpur with the Indian Air Force.
Police stated that the complainant has alleged that nearly ₹4 lakh was extorted from her over a period of time. She also claimed that she was subjected to rituals involving the consumption of an unidentified liquid and other practices that she described as linked to occult activities before being sexually assaulted.
A video that has circulated widely on social media reportedly shows the woman pleading during what she alleges was a forced religious conversion ceremony. Authorities have not publicly commented on the authenticity or full context of the video, and it remains part of the ongoing investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Rushikesh Reddy said that an offence has been registered at Sonegaon Police Station under provisions relating to sexual assault, criminal intimidation, and extortion, as well as sections of Maharashtra’s anti-superstition and anti-black magic legislation.
The complainant also alleged that on May 31 she was taken to Kalmeshwar, where a religious conversion ceremony was conducted against her will. She claimed that she was declared converted and married to the principal accused without her consent.
Investigators have seized digital devices and are examining electronic evidence, including mobile phone data, as part of the probe. Police officials stated that the allegations are being thoroughly investigated and that further arrests may be made depending on the findings.
Authorities emphasized that the case remains under investigation. The allegations contained in the complaint have not yet been tested in court, and the accused are entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty through due legal process.
The case has attracted significant public attention, particularly following the circulation of the alleged video online. Police have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or drawing conclusions before the investigation is completed.
The case signifies the intensified Muslim attitude toward Hindu girls and women to sexually exploit them under an Islamic mandate, as well as the negligence and reluctance of Hindu families, leaving their womenfolk without awareness or a protective shield.
Thousands of such vulnerable Hindu girls and women fall prey to Islamic radicals seeking to target them with a communal and misogynistic mindset.
