New Delhi |7 April 2013 | DHNS :: Keeping in mind the coming elections, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde is reviving the controversial communal violence bill, gathering dust in the North block for close to two years now, empowering the Centre to declare an area communally disturbed for deploying security forces even without the consent of the state.

The ministry has sought legal vetting of the Union Law Ministry on the draft bill UPA is keen to table in second half of the budget session of Parliament which begins on April 22. The cabinet will take up the revised draft of the bill, seeks to protect religious and linguistic minorities, post nod from the law ministry.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan is believed to have laid stress on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Shinde to bring the bill in the coming session of Parliament. Though it would be difficult for the UPA to get the bill passed from both the Houses given the paucity of numbers, the Congress hopes to reap political advantage merely by introducing it in both the Houses as it would send the right message to the minorities ahead of crucial elections to six states and later Lok Sabha.

Other than that, it would help the party target the BJP as well as the Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh which has witnessed communal violence often.

After the bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha way back in 2005, it was referred to the Standing Committee on Home for deliberations. The report of the standing committee was not acceptable to the Muslims which prompted the ministry to rework on it, said sources.

The ministry’s draft “largely sticks” to the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi-led National Advisory Council’s (NAC) version of the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill, 2011.

Earlier, the Home Ministry had to shelve the bill owing to strong opposition from political parties, especially the BJP which had termed the move as “dangerous” and an intrusion into the federal structure of the country.

Many political parties had reservation on the bill content given the provisions included transferring of the communal cases outside the state for a just trial.To check the bias administrations have displayed in handling communal cases in the past, the draft bill binds the Central and the state governments and their bureaucracy to exercise their powers in an impartial and non-discriminatory manner to prevent and control targeted violence, including mass violence, against religious or linguistic minorities, Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes.

Teresa, the fake saint tried to destroy Hindu faith by deceitful conversion programmes into Christianity.

Mother Teresa was no saint.

Sandhya Jain | 6 March 2013 | Niti Central :: Agnes Gonxha, the Albanian nun who became famous as Mother Teresa, was a political tool of the Vatican, adroit in legitimizing corrupt dictators and outright crooks rather than in serving the sick and dying in whose name she earned her enviable reputation and fabulous wealth. Far from being a saviour, she was a suppressor of the poor, according to Christopher Hitches, author of Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice.

Teresa is currently the subject of scrutiny by Canadian researchers Serge Larivee and Genevieve Chenard of the University of Montreal’s department of psychoeducation and Carole Senechal of the University of Ottawa’s faculty of education. The trio debunks her sainthood as the creation of an orchestrated media campaign, a fact that Der Spiegel and author Aroup Chatterjee have long exposed as the brainchild of BBC documentary filmmaker Malcolm Muggeridge. Many have since attributed Teresa’s sustained glorification as part of Cold War propaganda regarding the ‘humanitarian face’ of the West as opposed to the stodgy harshness of the Soviet bloc.

One of Christopher Hitchens’ most startling exposes of Teresa pertains to her association with Robert Maxwell and Charles Keating, Jr. The flamboyant Maxwell somehow involved her in a fund-raising scheme run by his newspaper group, the Mirror Group. He then made off with the money; in fact, after his death it was revealed that he had even misappropriated the group’s pension fund. Many wondered how Mother Teresa had time to spare for such a wicked man.

Actually, she was exceedingly generous with her time when it came to rich (and dubious) persons. In the 1980s, Charles Keating (sentenced to ten years in jail for his role in the Savings and Loan scandal, then among the greatest frauds in American history) set his eyes on the savings of small investors. Five US Senators doled favours to him in return for huge campaign donations disguised as other people’s money.

Keating donated US$ 1.25 million to Teresa at the height of his success, though not out of his own pocket. He gave her the use of his private jet. Teresa on her part permitted Keating to exploit her prestige and gave him a personalized crucifix which he carried everywhere. But in 1992, after several political and financial crises, Keating was finally brought to trial. It was certain he would receive the maximum sentence permissible under California law.

Teresa made a dramatic intervention in the trial, writing to Judge Lance Ito for clemency for Keating, but omitted to mention her original involvement with him. Clearly expecting her reputation to do the trick, she said, “We do not mix up in Business or Politics or courts. Our work, as Missionaries of Charity is to give wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor. I do not know anything about Mr. Charles Keating’s work or his business or the matters you are dealing with. I only know that he has always been kind and generous to God’s poor, and always ready to help whenever there was a need. It is for this reason that I do not want to forget him now while he and his family are suffering. Jesus has told us “Whatever you do to the least of my brethren … YOU DID IT TO ME”. Mr. Keating has done much to help the poor, which is why I am writing to you on his behalf. Whenever someone asks me to speak to a judge, I always … ask them to pray, to look into their heart, and to do what Jesus would do in that circumstance. And this is what I am asking of you, your Honor”.

The false innocence of this appealed riled Paul Turley, Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles, who was one of the prosecutor’s in the case. He crafted a response on his own initiative and as a private citizen, which he sent to Teresa.

This letter, which was made available to Christopher Hitchens exclusively, states, inter alia,

“I read your letter to Judge Ito, written on behalf of Mr. Keating, which includes your admission that you know nothing about Mr. Keating’s business or the criminal charges presented to Judge Ito. I am writing to you to provide a brief explanation of the crimes of which Mr. Keating has been convicted, to give you an understanding of the source of the money that Mr. Keating gave to you, and to suggest that you perform the moral and ethical act of returning the money to its rightful owners.

“Mr. Keating was convicted of defrauding 17 individuals of more than $900,000. These 17 persons were representative of 17,000 individuals from whom Mr. Keating stole $252,000,000. Mr. Keating’s specific acts of fraud were that he was the source of a series of fraudulent representations made to persons who bought bonds from his company and he also was the repository of crucial information which he chose to withhold from bond purchasers, thereby luring his victims into believing they were making a safe, low-risk investment. In truth and in fact, their money was being used to fund Mr. Keating’s exorbitant and extravagant lifestyle. …

“It is not uncommon for ‘con’ men to be generous with family, friends and charities. Perhaps they believe that their generosity will purchase love, respect or forgiveness. However, the time when the purchase of ‘indulgences’ was an acceptable method of seeking forgiveness died with the Reformation. …

“You urge Judge Ito to look into his heart – as he sentences Charles Keating – and do what Jesus would do. I submit the same challenge to you. Ask yourself what Jesus would do if he were given the fruits of a crime; what Jesus would do if he were in possession of money that had been stolen; what Jesus would do if he were being exploited by a thief to ease his conscience.

“I submit that Jesus would promptly and unhesitatingly return the stolen property to its rightful owners. You should do the same. You have been given money by Mr. Keating that he has been convicted of stealing by fraud. Do not permit him the ‘indulgence’ he desires Do not keep the money. Return it to those who worked for it and earned it! If you contact me I will put you in direct contact with the rightful owners of the property now in your possession.”

Needless to add, Turley received no reply from Teresa. This episode bears repetition as it is the best documented evidence of the hypocrisy and priorities of the person being fast-tracked to sainthood by a church challenged by sexual and financial scandals. (Courtesy: Niti Central).

With all these frauds and exploiting the poverty and plights of the third world and especially in India, the fake saint named Mother Teressa spearheaded the cunning Evangelization programmes in India and other places only to destroy the original faith of the poor compelled to take help from that disputed Saint. She is a purported saint without spirituality and the sacred switch of the catholic machinery to make more and more money for the conversion of India to a pure christian hood, the only vision and mission of that ‘Saint of the Gutters’. The Noble Peace Committee and Government of India must contemplate to revoke the honor of Noble and Bharat Ratna Awards after these shameful exposers about the so called saviour of Mankind. Devout Hindus and Hindu Organisations must print leaflets exposing Teresa and distribute all these in every Church gates and in all the public places. (Editor-Hindu Existence).

The Hare Krishna Hindu temple of ISKCON in Russia, is scheduled to be demolished by Moscow authorities by 15 January 2013. The ISKCON monks announced that the Hindu temple was facing closure by Russian government, a year after the Christians of the country had sought ban of Bhagvad Gita, though the Russian Court of Tomsk rejected the ban on Gita upon the plea of the Orthdox Church. The temple destruction has been generated by the protest of Orthodox Church of Russia which hold the status of more than ‘State Religion’.

This Orthodox Church of Russia is not going to demolish religious places of other faiths except the Hindus and obviously ISKCON’s. As this Hindu group is working hard to fulfill the spiritual vacuum among the materialistic Russian people so disgusted by the meaningless services of Orthodox Church. After attacking the Srimadvagabad Gita’s ISKCON version (‘Gita as it is’ by Prabhupada), the Orthodox Christians are directly hitting ISKCON from their sheltering place. The Church authority is hatching a clear conspiracy against the increasing influence of ‘Hare Krishna Movement’ in Russia.

It is hard to reveal the real Hindu-Buddhist history of Russia. ISKCON has many branches in Russia having Shri Krishna-Gour Netai Temples in Russia. Ramakrisna Mission has its branch in Moscow. Regular Hindu pujas are conducted there in Ramkrishna Temple.

Azerbaijan’s Baku still carries the Hindu reminiscence of ancient Vedic Agni Puja in Jwalaji Temple (Hindu Temple). Russian Mongolia has still Buddhist (TantraYana) majority and Hindu-Buddhist amity. Buryatia still maintains its Indian roots in religious practices. But, the Christian conspirators are planning to end the Indian influences in Russian religious practices.

In 2007 a ancient Vishnu Deity was unearthed in an excavation work near Volga region. The Vishnu idol found in Staraya (old) Maina village dates back to VII-X century AD. Staraya Maina village in Ulyanovsk region was a highly populated city 1700 years ago, much older than Kiev, so far believed to be the mother of all Russian cities.

The Hindu Council of Russia [HCR] represents members of the Hindu religion in Russia. The council was created on December 19, 2011, in light of the Bhagavad Gita trial in Russia, by “Hindus from Bharat (India), Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal and other countries residing in Russia.” Sadhu Priya Das is the current chairman of HCR.

The presence of ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, Chinmaya Mission, Ananda Marga, the organizations associated with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Sahaja Yoga, Brahma Kumari, Satya Sai Baba and Osho Rajneesh unequivocally prove the Hindu Existence in Russia.

While ISKCON and Brahma Kumari appear to have a relatively strong followers in Russia, the other organizations in the list have a marginal but significance presence in this country. So far 80 centers of ISKCON and 20 of Brahmakumari’s are nurturing the Hindu and Buddhist Culture in Russia with the other Indian Root Hindu Organizations.

As of December 2005, the Federal Registration Service recorded the number of registered Hindu groups listing Hindu group and Hindu groups with particular orientation on Krishna (78) and Tantric sects with the 20 self realization centers of Brahmakumari’s.

According to the Hindu Forum of Britain, there are 60,000 Hindus in Russia, over 10,000 of whom live in Moscow.

The present protest against Hare Krishna Temple in Moscow has been orchestrated by the Russian Orthodox Church which did not want land given to a temple one Hindu Organisation as considering it as a measure of ”converting Russian Christians to a Hindu way of life”. With the vehement anti-propaganda of Russian Orthodox Church, Hindus were victimized, threatened, bullied, beaten and subjected to violence one after another in a so called socialist country and a citadel of ‘Glasnost’ and ‘Perestroika’ .

Finally, in November 2005, the Mayor of Moscow canceled the land order and took away the piece of land given for the construction of the Hindu temple.

On November 29, 2005, Archbishop Nikon of the Russian Orthodox Church sent a letter to the mayor of Moscow, describing the Hindu deity Krishna as an ‘evil demon’. The letter continued in that manner, using words such as ‘satanic’. Some days after a representative of Teresa, the Queen of Christian Conversion in India met the anti Hindu Archbishop Nikon with a confidential mission.

On January 14, 2006, Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone handed over letters expressing concern about the harassment of Russian Hindus by the Moscow Government and the Russian Orthodox Church to the visiting Mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov in London, even as British Parliamentarians led by Ashok Kumar MP, Lord Dholakia and Baroness Flather got ready to host the launch of the Defend Russian Hindus Campaign at the House of Commons on 18 January of the same year.

British Parliamentarians and members of the all faith communities adopted then a resolution to Defend Russian Hindus launch at the House of Commons, urging the Moscow Government to stop harassment of minority religions in Russia. Parliamentarians from all three parties will later hand a copy of this resolution to the Russian Ambassador in London.

After that gallons of water have flown in Ganges and Volga, but the Orthodox opposition to Hare Krishna Hindu Temple of ISKCON still remains intact as majority Christians do not tolerate Hindus any way. They want Christian conversion of this world and India in a very scrupulous evangelical way. Actually, Orthodox Christians in Russia haven taken a vow to end up all Hindu activities in Russia in every footsteps by demoralizing Hindu Scriptures and destroying Hindu temples.

Russian President Vladimir Putin came to India in his official visit on 24th Dec, 2012 for a Indo-Russia strategic purpose. He came and flown away after signing some agreements and deals, but the Indian-Russian cultural disruption did not get a chance to heal up properly.

Anyway, huge numbers of Hindus everywhere and the some confused Hindus in Ramakrishna Mission still observe Christian celebrations of year ending and new christian era. Christian are destroying Hindu Temples in Russia, converting huge numbers of Hindus in Christianity and we are enjoying 25th December…. 1st January. SHAME.

And we foolish Hindus are celebrating various Christian celebration in our own way. What a suicidal measure we are adopting all around. Stop buying cakes for a persecutors’ (Christian) celebration. Donate for a Hindu Cause to Ramakrishna Mission, ISKCON, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Hindu Existence… where ever you get a scope to strengthen our Hindu society.

Russia’s only Hindu temple faces threat of demolition.

TNN | Dec 24, 2012 | New Delhi :: The Indian ambassador to Russia has asked the Moscow authorities to give an extension to a temporary temple which is set to expire on December 31, 2012, until they complete the construction of a Vedic cultural centre.
NEW DELHI: A year after Russia sought to ban the Bhagavad Gita, the Iskcon Krishna temple in Moscow is facing closure by the Russian government. By January 15, 2013, Iskcon monks said their Moscow temple, the only Hindu temple in Russia, would be demolished by the city authorities.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives on Monday for a day of talks with the Indian government, the temple issue is likely to figure in the discussions, not least because the issue has been pursued by the foreign ministry.

Indian ambassador to Russia Ajai Malhotra has asked the Moscow authorities to give an extension to a temporary temple which is set to expire on December 31, 2012, until they complete the construction of a Vedic cultural centre. Asked about the proposed demolition, Russian ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin dismissed fears of demolition.

However, Iskcon monk Madanmohan Das said the demolition order has not been revoked, so the temple is due to come down in January, because the authorities said it “violates the urban building code” and has no legal grounds for existence.

In a statement, the temple officials said they feared that even the permanent temple would face the axe. “A source in the Moscow mayor’s office said on condition of anonymity that Mayor Sergey Sobyanin also ordered to axe the permanent temple project, which Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and previous Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov had included in a joint declaration in 2006 as a symbol of cultural cooperation between the cities. Following the declaration, Indian ambassador Ajai Malhotra laid the cornerstone for the new project earlier this year,” the statement said.

This year, Russia plans to push for land from the Indian government for a Russian orthodox church in Delhi. In 2004, Moscow’s Iskcon temple was demolished and the Iskcon group was offered another plot to build a temple. Reports said the offer was withdrawn after Russian orthodox church members protested against the temple building plans.

Last year’s Bhagavad Gita trial had brought Lok Sabha to its feet and in a rare move, Parliament had collectively asked Russia to prevent the ban. The latest issue of demolition promises to put another wrinkle in the bilateral relations. [Courtesy: TOI]

America’s First Ever Hindu Congresswoman Will Take the Oath of Office Over the Bhagavad Gita.

PTI | WASHINGTON | Nov 8, 2012 :: Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday created history by becoming the first Hindu-American to have entered the US House of Representatives, winning her Hawaii seat by trouncing her Republican rival in a one-sided contest.

An Iraq war veteran, 31-year-old Gabbard defeated K Crowley of the Republican Party with a handsome margin. Her victory has been cheered by the Hindu-American community across the country.

Though just 50 per cent of the votes had been counted when reports came in, Gabbard had taken a massive unassailable lead of 120,000 votes over her Republican rival in her bid to represent Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District in the US House.

She is also the first female combat veterans to serve in the Congress.

“Although there are not very many Hindus in Hawaii, I never felt discriminated against. I never really gave it a second thought growing up that any other reality existed, or that it was not the same everywhere,” Tulsi said in a statement, soon after she took an inaccessible lead over her Republican challenger.

“On my last trip to the mainland I met a man who told me that his teenage daughter felt embarrassed about her faith, but after meeting me, she’s no longer feeling that way. He was so happy that my being elected to Congress would give hope to hundreds and thousands of young Hindus in America, that they can be open about their faith, and even run for office, without fear of being discriminated against or attacked because of their religion,” Gabbard said.

She was endorsed by US President Barack Obama, during the election campaign.

Proud of her Hindu religion, she is not Indian or of Indian heritage. Her father Mike Gabbard, is currently Hawaii State Senator and mother Carol Porter Gabbard is an educator and business owner.

At 21, she became the youngest person elected to the Hawaii Legislature. At 23, she was the state’s first elected official to voluntarily resign to go to war. At 28, she was the first woman to be presented with an award by the Kuwait Army National Guard.

Congratulations Tulsi:

Gabbard, whose first name refers to a tree ‘Tulsi’ sacred to Hindus, fully embraced Hinduism as a teenager, and follows the Vaishnava branch that believes in the Supreme Lord Vishnu, and his 10 primary incarnations. Her primary scripture is the centuries-old Bhagavad Gita, whose themes include selfless action, spirituality, war, and serving God and humanity.

“The Bhagavad Gita is often considered a guide as to how to make decisions in difficult situations, when the decision is often not clear cut,” Meghani said. “Hinduism’s innate pluralism recognizes that there are various ways to look at things, and its focus on dharma, or duty, guides those holding positions of power or authority.”

When she’s sworn in this January, she’ll take her oath of office over a Bhagavad Gita, a sacred text for followers of the Vaishnava branch of Hindu. According to HuffPo, Gabbard’s favorite verses include,

“That which pervades the entire body you should know to be indestructible. No one is able to destroy that imperishable soul.” (2:17)
”The soul can never be cut into pieces by any weapon, nor can he be burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind.”(2.23)

Gabbard hopes that her faith will help her to assist the US in fostering a better relationship with India, where a large portion of the population is Hindu.

It is notable that the whole family of Tulsi is attached with Hare Krishna Movement originated from ISKCON and her brothers and siters are named as Bhakti, Jay, Virndavan and Arya. Tulsi’s parents are also known as Krishmakatha and Devahuti.

Chennai schoolteacher ‘persecuted’ for Hindu prayer from sacrad ‘Shatapatha Brahmana’

TUESDAY, 06 NOVEMBER 2012 | KUMAR CHELLAPPAN | CHENNAI | THE POINEER :: In what is being seen as an assault on religious freedom, the management of an admittedly secular school in Chennai has suspended a teacher for reciting Hindu prayers during assembly.

Abirami, a chemistry teacher of the State Bank of India Officers’ Association Educational Trust School (SBIOA), recited the prayers in the school assembly on March 13, 2012 hoping to inspire the 330 students who were about to write the chemistry paper in the public examination.

“I recited the lines Om Mathru Devo Bhava, Om Pitru Devo Bhava, Om Acharya Devo Bhava, Om Vighneswaraya Namaha, Om Neela Saraswathiye Namaha which was repeated by the students. But before they could reach the stanza Om Vighneswaraya Namaha, school’s vice- principal Jayanti Sundar, a Christian who is also an evangelist, switched off the mike. I told her that prayers were not yet over and continued reciting the full prayer when she pushed me aside and asked another Christian teacher to lead the prayers. They put me under suspension on that day itself on charges of physically assaulting the vice-principal in front of the school students,” Abirami told The Pioneer.

She said that though the school was launched by the State Bank of India Officers Association, it has turned out to be a Christian management school. “Only Christian prayers are allowed in the school assembly though majority of the students are from the Hindu community. It was only on the day of the chemistry examination that I took part in the school assembly and recited the prayer. My intention was to recite prayers for the benefit of students belonging to all religions,” said Abirami.

Though she has been under suspension for the entire academic year 2012, the management is yet to complete the disciplinary proceedings which in itself are a violation of education department rules. “The internal disciplinary proceedings against her are under progress. Ours is a secular school and all the charges levelled against us are baseless. Abirami is trying to divert the attention of the general public by inciting religious sentiments,” PC Selvarani, the school principal, said. She alleged that Abirami was trying to spoil the minds of the students. But she refused to divulge the reasons behind the suspension and disciplinary proceedings against Abirami.

Students who took part in the March 13 school assembly said Abirami did not in any way violate the school discipline. “Abirami offered prayers for all religions equally. While she was offering the prayers, vice-principal Jayanthi Sunder tried to snatch the microphone from her hands. Consequently, Abirami resisted this act and did not force Jayanthi Sunder physically in any form. I could deduce no reason for her suspension,” said S Vidhyalakshmi, a student who was present in the assembly on the fateful day.

Some of the students backed Abirami’s claim that only Christian prayers are recited in the school assembly everyday. “Only Christian teachers are allowed to lead the assembly and recite the prayers. This has baffled us,” one of the students who did not want to be quoted said.

B Haran, a political commentator, described as outrageous the action of the school authorities. “This is a classic case of minorities serving their religion wherever they are. They infiltrate a secular institution, take control of management and convert it into a minority institution. This is what has happened exactly in this case. The SBOA is now controlled by the Church. That is Indian Secularism for you,” said Haran.

V Sundaram, all India general secretary (ideology), Janata Party, called the bluff on the school management. A former IAS officer withy more than three decades of administrative experience, Sundaram termed the action of the school management as a violation of the freedom of religion. “If we interpret true secularism, the court itself can take suo moto note of the news and initiate action against the school,” he said. Reports complied from the input of Sudhi Ranjan Sen , NDTV and Vishwa Mohan, TNN | Oct 19, 2012 | NEW DELHI: West Bengal’s top cop today told the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that there was clear and a growing link between the CPI (Maoist) and Pakistan’s dreaded Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Agency. West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) Naparajit Mukerjee also told the MHA that the link between the Maoist and the ISI was clear in four districts bordering Bangladesh, including Murshidabad.

Mr Mukerjee made this revelation to the MHA in a meeting to review the progress made by states to deal with the threat of Maoist insurgency. Maoists have a strong to moderate presence in as many as nine states in India. Central security agencies have earlier warned about the growing links between the CPI (Maoist) and militant Islamic outfits like the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). A link between Pakistan’s ISI – accused of being the master mind of the 26/11 Mumbai strikes and also believed to have strong links with terrorist organisations the Lashkar-e- Taiba (LeT) – and CPI (Maoist) hasn’t yet been said so definitively.

In a related development, the MHA has asked the states not to swap hardcore Maoist to secure the release of hostages. In May this year, the Maoist had kidnapped Sukma collector Alex Paul Menon. He was kept a hostage for 13 days and Maoists had demanded the release of several hardcore arrested insurgents. The MHA has also asked the states to have a trained and dedicated team of negotiators for hostage negotiations. Maoists may have been facing all-round reverses in West Bengal ever since chief minister Mamata Banerjee took charge of the state last year, but they have forged a deadly alliance with the Pakistani spy agency ISI through overground radicals and remnants of the banned outfit SIMI during the period.

Revelation was made by the West Bengal police chief Naparajit Mukherjee here on Thursday when he told a gathering of chief secretaries and DGPs of other naxal-affected states about the growing Maoist-ISI nexus in four districts of the state.

Expressing his anguish over the development, he is learnt to have said that the nexus had been reported after arrests of some Maoists who elaborated how overground sympathizers of the Red Ultras acted as a ‘link’ for them.

Murshidabad, West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura are the four districts where the West Bengal Police had noticed actions that hinted at Maoist-ISI linkages. The link is believed to be helping the ultras in getting arms and ammunition through existing network of north-east insurgents.

Though the Union home ministry did not add to what Mukherjee told the gathering over the nefarious link, security and intelligence agencies spoke about the possibility through Maoists sympathizers. They also said that the Maoists’ support to the Jammu & Kashmir terrorists for their cause in the bordering state had never been a secret.

The disclosure of Mukherjee comes even as Bengal has shown remarkable change in the situation where it effectively controlled the Red menace in the past one year through consistent intelligence-based operations against the Red Ultras.

Home ministry latest figures on naxal violence show that West Bengal – once a hotbed of Maoist activities – has, in fact, moved closer to what Andhra Pradesh had achieved by reporting zero casualty consistently in past so many years.

Ministry’s statistics, based on state’s reports, show that none of three highly Maoist-affected districts – West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura — did not reported any killing in the past 10 months. The period, which incidentally coincides with the Banerjee’s rule in the state, had also seen the elimination of senior naxal leaders including top CPI(Maoist) politburo member Kishenji and arrest of several others during joint operations of state police and central paramilitary forces.

West Midnapore, which witnessed as many as 360 deaths (out the casualty list, death of 95% Hindus proved that the Maoists targeted Hindus to terrorize the common people to control them under gun fire. – Ed. Hindu Existence.) of civilians and security personnel during 2009-11, has reported zero casualty this year. Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Malda have also not reported any casualty.

Officials here believed that human intelligence-based ‘specific’ operations as well as the CM’s approach to reach out to people directly in the Maoist-affected districts had played important role in achieving such a situation in West Bengal.

“Mamata Bannerjee is the only chief minister who holds regular meetings and rallies right in the naxals’ dominated districts. This political move to fill the vacuum created by the retreating Maoists proves to be a boon for West Bengal”, said a senior home ministry official.

In the event of murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati by the Maoist and CWG nexus, brought the truth of Naxal-Christian coordination against Hindus in the broad day light.

Manifestations like going to Haj by the senior most Communist Leader – Razzak Molla, meeting of ADGP(T) – Nazrul Islam with Naxalite leader Santosh Rana to create a Dalit-Muslim force in West Bengal, as reported or hobnobbing with Islamist like Taha Siddique or Nurar Rahaman Barkati by Mamata Banerjee herself or pretensions of the WB CM by adopting an Islamic culture and dress-up even in Hindu festivals, are the clear milestones of a Changing West Bengal within a Islamic frame work.

Ban on Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Site will produce a Stronger and Unbeatable Hindu Media in Bharat.

History repeats itself. The days of suffocating British Raj is back again through a notorious Italian lady, Sonia Gandhi nee Sonia Antonio Maino, (the real Vatican representative) and her Indian counterparts by censoring Hindu Media in a gag. The present Congress led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Govt. in India has banned numerous Hindu websites, blogs and pages in social media including http://hindujagruti.org the internet organ of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, a famous Hindu organisation with world reputation. Pro Muslim and Pro Christian Congress Party in a mood to persecute the majority Hindus all along.

If we want to look back the repression in the British Raj, we see that the infamous “Gagging Act” of 1857 has been passed following the 1^st Great Indian War against the British. It sought to regulate the establishment of printing presses and to restrain the circulation of printed mater. All presses had to have a license from the government. No distinction was made between publications in English and other regional languages. The Act also held that no printed material impugning the motives of the British Raj, tending to bring it hatred and contempt and exciting unlawful resistance to its orders. When the British Government found that the Gagging Act was not potent enough to repress all Nationalist sentiments, it went on to create a more forcible law, designed in part by Sir Alexander Arbuthnot and Sir Ashley Eden, Lieutenant Governor of Bengal. In the course of time, the Vernacular Press Act was passed in 1878 under the Governor Generalship and Viceroyalty of Lord Lytton, for ‘better control” of Indian language newspapers. The purpose of the Act was to control the printing and circulation of seditious material, calculated to produce disaffection, which was already present, against the British Government in India in the minds of the masses.

So far, thirty five vernacular papers in Bengal, including the Amrita Bazar Patrika, the editor of which was one Mahatma Sisir Kumar Ghose. Sir Ashley Eden summoned him and offered to contribute to his paper regularly, if he allowed what he published to go under scanner by Sir Ashley’s office first. Ghose refused, and remarked that “there ought to be at least one honest journalist in the land.” The Vernacular Press Act might be said to have grown from this incident. About the time the Act was passed, Sir Ashley remarked in a speech that forty five seditious writings published in fifteen different vernacular papers were presented before him before the Act was finalized. The Vernacular Press Act stated that any magistrate or Commissioner of Police had the authority to call upon any printer or publisher of a newspaper to enter into a bond, undertaking not to print a certain kind of material, and confiscate any printed mater it deemed objectionable. The affected party could not seek redress in a court of law. General threats to the Indian language press were these:

1. Any attempt to subvert the functioning of democratic institutions.

2. Agitations and violent incidents.

3. False allegations against British authorities or individuals.

4. Attempts at endangering law and order to disturb the normal functioning of the state.

5. Threats to internal stability.

Any one or more of the above were punishable by law. No redress could be sought in any court in the land.

In such a way of violation of jurisprudence and toeing the nature of democracy, the Britishers banned most of the Nationalist news papers and periodicals and also proscribed the writings of Vivekananda, Tilak, Aurobinda, Subhas, Savarkar and so on to curb on the struggle for freedom prior to our Independence in 1947.

Those black days are overlapping in a situation of semi-emergency now in Bharat (India), when the present heirs of those colonial authorities are repeating the same thing by banning Hindu Media to dismantle the unachieved Struggle for Hindu Freedom in Bharat. The corrupt Congress or the UPA is shameless. The so called social interlocutors and the media magnets are also magnificently malafide in nature. So, we must condemn all of them with our utmost resentments.

As per reports the Govt in India has banned over 300 sites, blogs and pages, most of them are managed by Hindu individuals and organisations, without giving any intimation to the site owners. It is told that this ban has been made upon precautionary or preventative measures to check the Assam aftermath. But, there is hardly any Hindu retaliation yet in any corner of India except Assam, so that we may collect any evidence as a proof in connection with any repercussion generated from any Hindu site. But, most of the active Hindu sites are banned and the reactionary Muslim sites are allowed for the subversive activities against our Country and its people.

Those who are thinking that the ban on Hindu websites is effective on Hindu mainstream of life and Hindu activities, they are idiots enough. After banning the HINDUJAGRUTI SITE, hundreds of blogs and pages have erupted their pure dedication of Hindu Journalism as a supplementary to the HINDUJAGRUTI WEBSITE. And this can be a landmark to start a strong Hindu Media to replace the conventional Secular Media run by the Arab and Christian money power. So, a strong Hindu media is also an urgent need of the hours to kneel down the media menace of the secularists and to nullify the Cyber Jihad waged against India by the Mullahs, as well.

We must enter now into building a strong Hindu Media in this critical juncture to knock down the anti national and anti Hindu ‘Secular Media’ which is most dangerous than anything.

Hindu Janjagruti Samiti organised a historical Hindu Rastra Adhiveshan(10^th – 14^th June, 2012) at Ramnathi, Goa for the re-establishment of Hindu Rashtra in Bharat within 2025. It was resolved then to hold state level conference in each state for the materialization of Hindu Rashtra in Bharat. In this connection a state level conference is being organised at Arya Samaj Mandir, Salkia Howrah, on 25^th and 26^thAugust, 2012.

He revealed the way how Hindurashtra can be achieved in a path concreted by spirituality on one hand and nationalism on the other. The saint resembled Swami Vivekananda whom the westerners called a “soldier saint” due to his inbuilt nationalist spirituality. After listening to his intellectual caliber and stern voice one can easily guess why is he facing constant threats from the jihadists?

After the main function met an end at the first day, the Hindu brothers and sisters present over there broke the barriers of age and the difference between speaker and audience, they took active part in the group discussions with the same panellist status to all of them. Group discussions were conducted on three problems viz. Goraksha under the leadership of AcharyaYogeshShashtri of Goraksha Dal, Love Jihad under TituShadowson of Asansol News and the present status of the Bengali Hindus under UpanandaBrahmachari of Hindu Existence.

Mamata Banerjee – Anarchist or Islamist?

Mamata Banerjee’s rule of Bengal has revealed her dark side to the public. The woman that was worshipped by the masses is now reviled and feared by them. It is a matter of time before the CPI (M) realizes her follies and capitalizes on them like Tarun Gogoi. I will explain how later.

Bengal regularly has its Mulayamesque moments these days. Her Government has illegally promised 3 cottahs of land and Rs. 2,500 per month honorarium to the Imams of 30,000 mosques of Bengal. She then followed it up with a Rs. 1,000 per month honorarium to the Muezzins of the mosques. Besides these unconstitutional acts she has used the backdoor to provide reservations to Muslims in government jobs.

Bengal is rife with communal riots these days but they go unreported due to media black-out. The fanatics among the Muslims have never had it better before. She is known to kow-tow to top Islamist zealots, known people with dubious backgrounds and ISI links and to assure them of her support in lieu of the blinkered minority community vote banks they control.

Due to her pressure the BSF is being forced to take a back-seat in protecting our borders from infiltration. During the last years of CPI (M) and Chidambaram’s tenure there was a measure of control regained on the eastern borders.

Again over the last few months she has had supporters of Hindu Samhati (a hindu action forum) beaten mercilessly and jailed, when they protested against police inaction in riot hit areas. She has tried to stop their legal protests and her government has faced humiliation in the court for its ham handedness and illegal moves against the organization.

Hundreds of homes of the majority community and places of religious worship have been burnt and desecrated without any action from the administration.

Rapes and kidnappings of majority community girls and women are common and the names of the alleged perpetrators of these crimes sound like they are from a specific minority community. However, these criminals are protected by their community leaders under contorted Islamist policies and intolerance of diversity.

“Majority” community homes and lands are encroached upon with audacity and tenants eliminated. The administration does not react due to their fear of Mamata’s blatant interference. Mosques regularly mushroom next to temples with the sole purpose of disrupting the peace of the area. It is an open secret that Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia are funding these mosques spectacularly to spread their poisonous version of religious bigotry. In a move that defies belief she has agreed to recognize thousands of such Madrasas!

The recent episode of rioting after a local newspaper made a gaffe shocked the complacent Hindus of Kolkata too.

Despite this the left remains crippled and unable to capitalize on the situation. The truth is that the so called “seculars” and the “Hindu right wingers” are unanimous in their feelings of disgust about the blatant appeasements of Islamists.

The Assamese people united to vote Tarun Gogoi to power and the BJP lost several seats when he took the correct administrative stand.

The CPI (M) should realize the same. Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharaya was already pro-Industry and had its support unlike Mamata who has alienated all. CPI (M) should not shy from a confrontation with the Islamists. All secular and Hindu votes will automatically consolidate in their favour.

Nevertheless, Mamata Banerjee remains blinkered about what the people want and how to go about it. She recently did announce a grant and autonomy for Ramakrishna Mission to shore up her sagging image but then she continues to swing her sword in the dark with dangeroAnand Mathur

A glorious event of over Tribal 658 families, 3127 total people, 1513 men & 1614 women from 102 Tribal villages coming back to their ancestors’ religious traditions giving up the forced Christianity. In a grand event organized by VHP in the jungles of Sundergadh in Odisha, there were festival like celebrations by 102 Tribal villages. The happy occasion was presided over by VHP International Working President Dr Pravin Togadia.

While thanking the 102 villages & all the Tribals who returned to their ancestors’ religious traditions by choice & with joy, Dr Togadia said, “Tribals are the roots of Bharat. They are the custodians of our age old rich traditions & culture. We all must do everything to protect them & their rights. Govt has extended the reservations to Christians meant only for Hindu Tribals. Many Christians are already availing of the quota meant for the poor Tribals depriving the poor tribals of their right to education, jobs, loans, lands etc. This should immediately stop & all convert or any Christians should be immediately de-listed from the reservations meant for the Tribals. Those who convert to Christianity from Scheduled Castes are not given the benefits of SC reservations. Following the same pattern, the Tribals who convert to Christianity should be de-listed from the Tribal reservations.”

“In 1975, there was a bill for amending the constitution to this regard was brought in by Shri Kartik Urav who himself was a Tribal from Odisha. 300 Member of Parliament had signed the bill agreeing that the Tribals who converted to Christianity should be de-listed from the reservations. The amendment was about to be passed but got shelved for unknown reasons. It should be brought back again & be passed immediately. “

“Rangnath Mishra commission has now recommended that all Christians & Muslims who stayed in Tribal areas & regions before 1947 should be treated as Tribals & be given all Tribal reservations. This will further snatch education, employment, loans, lands & therefore livelihood of the original poor Tribals who did not disregard their ancestors’ traditions & stayed loyal to the roots despite great difficulties. Therefore, this draconian recommendation by Rangnath Mishra Commission should never be accepted & the entire Rangnath Mishra report itself.

Should be rejected as it snatched roti, education, employment, land, loans, businesses & trades of all castes of Hindus & Tribals.”

Dr Togadia appealed to all to support activities that educate, empower & enable Tribals to prosper & come up in life while protecting their glorious traditions. VHP is already running over 40,000 schools, residential schools- colleges for tribal girls & boys in tribal areas all over Bharat & now many bright students studied there are doctors, top govt officers & successful scientists in Bharat & abroad.

VHP also has over 1000 medical facilities including hospitals, ambulances, blood banks & primary health care centres for Tribals in their own areas for quick medical help. There are Self Help centres & vocational guidance units where women & youth are groomed for the traded that are close to their life styles giving them better income & bright future.

Dr Togadia said, “Support from the world & from Bharat from those who care for the well-being of the Tribals in all fields will gain further momentum that will immensely benefit the Tribals & also dissuade them from looking at other religions as an option.”

Hindus in Kerala are almost under siege in the Muslim majority districts of Malappuram and Kottayam and also in Christian majority district of Ernakulam. The Hindus of other three or four districts in Kerala are also in danger line. The Mallapuram district was carved out to create a Muslim majority district by the Communist government headed by E.M.S Namboodiripad on 16 June 1969.

This land of Kerala is famous for the birth place of Adi Shankarayara and bearing a strong legacy of Hindu tradition and culture. But for a long drawn strategy of the anti Hindu force in Kerala, the Hindus are now decreasing the numbers and powers in Kerala which is very alarming.

Slaughter of Pregnant cow near Sasatha Temple at Peumbavoor - A warning to Hindu society in Kerala

In the last week, two disastrous incident happened in Kerala one at Perumbavoor in Ernakulam District where a pregnant cow was slaughtered by three Muslim butchers under instigation of the Muslim perpetrators in front of a Hindu Sasatha Temple temple during Makara Villakku time in Sabarimala and one Hindu activist named Sharon (Mullassery area RSS Karyavaha) was brutally murdered on 19^th January 2012 in Manaloor area of Thrissur District by anti Hindu force led by CPIM-Islamist perpetrators. All the times Hindus and their sentiments are vehemently attacked with dire consequences in Kerala by anti Hindu force having their roots in Arabia, gulf countries or in Vatican. However, as a retaliation of Sharon’s murder, the local CPIM offices was vandalized and set on fire on the next day on 20th January.

Dawn-to-dusk shutdown and rallies in Ernakulam district at Muvattupuzha, Kunnathunadu and Kothamangalam area marked vehement Hindu Protest against Cow Slaughter in front of Perumbavoor Temple.

In the last three years in Kerala, more than 100 of Hindu activists (most of them are RSS, Hindu Munnani or Hindu Aiyakavedi activists) were murdered by the Muslim, Christian or CPIM goons, over 2000 Hindu girls were snatched forever by Muslim Love Jehadis, hundreds of Hindu establishments and Hindu occupations were vacated by the anti-Hindu Muslim, Christian or Political force, many Hindu temples and Devaswom boards were forcefully undertaken through anti-Hindu legislation. Anti-Hindus secular policies of the pseudo secular government of Kerala, either led by the secular Congress party or Communist parties always harm the Hindus in Kerala. The elected “Secular” Government of Kerala tried to a legislative Bill in 2010 with a view to take over only Hindu temples, trusts, their asserts and related affairs including the revenue from Hindu devotees, their donations and endowments, and entrusted their ownership, management and control to specially constituted statutory bodies like Travancore Devaswom Board, Cochin Devaswom Board, Guruvayoor Temple Committee, etc. But that bill was somehow restrained by the Hindu organizations through a series of protests.

Politics in Kerala has always been controlled by either Left power led by CPIM or the Rights counterpart led by Congress in their term were obviously dependent upon the Kerala Congress (A Christian Political force) or the Muslim League to grab the power in Assembly. The vote bank policies never facilitated Hindu voters in recent past except in the case of Pallakad Municipality was captured in 2005. In the recent years the Muslim and Christian political groups are putting various pressures upon all the political parties in Kerala to fulfil their goal for a ethnic cleansing of Hindus in the furthest destination in the south India. Newly built ‘Kerala Religious Police” a Muslim fanatic wing, Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and the Islamic Sevak Sangh (ISS), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) floated by the Islamists of Kerala, all are very musch active Keralian Jehadi road maps or the reorganized National Democratic Front (NDF) have recently emerged as stronger alternatives to ISS and SIMI and have allegedly masterminded communal violence in recent years.

T J Joseph, a professor at the New Man College, Thodupuzha - a victim of the Islamists. His right palm was chopped off by fanatic Muslims for setting a controversial question paper for an examination.

Perumbavoor, where the Jihadi Islamic fanatics slaughtered a pregnant Cow in Temple site and the surrounding areas have witnessed a rise in Islamist operations recently. The place is just 25 km away from Muvattupuzha, where activists of Islamist organization Popular Front of India had cut off the right hand of a college professor on July 4, 2010.

In 1921, present day Malappuram district witnessed a devastating revolts and massacres known as the Moplah rebellions killing lacs of innocent Hindus overnight. Through the establishment of Mallapuram, all the then Hindu majority districts in Kerala was divided in two parts as the Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode in the North were separated from the districts of Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam , Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram in the southern part. And if the non Muslims in Ernakulam and Idukki get majority in any chance (high chance is there) the Kerala Hindus will be divided by three parts geographically. All these are happening under a certain plan by the anti – Hindu force in Kerala.

Demographic change in Kerala marks a disastrous destiny of Kerala Hindus.

Out of 14 districts of Kerala Hindus are minority in at least five districts as the non Hindu population is larger now than the Hindu population there. These districts are (i) Malappuram (ii) Wayanad (iii) Ernakulam (iv) Idukki and (v) Kottayam in which Muslims are singly majority in Mallapuram and Kottayam and Christians are singly majority in Ernakulam Districts as per projection reports available on the basis of Census Report 2001 (published) and the Census Report 2011 (un-published).

As per Census Report 2001, the district-wise population of Hindus, Muslims and Christians is as follows: Kasaragod: 7,05,234 (Hindus), 4,13,063 (Muslims), 84,891 (Christians); Kannur: 14,80,748 (H), 6,65,648 (M), 2,61,090 (C); Kozhikode: 16,69,161 (H), 10,78,759 (M), 1,27,468 (C); Wayanad: 3,92,141 (H), 2,09,758 (M) 1,75,495 (C); Malappuram : 10,57,418 (H), 24,84,576 (M), 1,75,495 (C); Palakkad: 18,02,766 (H), 7,03,596 (M), 1,09,249 (C); Thrissur : 17,61,842 (H), 4,88,697 (M), 7,20,152 (C); Ernakulam: 14,44,994 (H), 4,51,764 (M), 12,04,471 (C); Idukki : 5,66,744 (H), 81,222 (M), 4,80,108 (C); Kottayam: 9,63,497 (H), 1,16,686 (M), 8,71,371 (C); Alappuzha: 14,57,188 (H), 2,08,042 (M), 4,41,643 (C); Pathanamthitta: 6,94,560 (H), 56,457 (M), 4,81,602 (C); Kollam : 16,85,044 (H), 4,74,071 (M), 4,23,745 (C) and Thiruvananthapuram: 22,02,112 (H), 4,31,512 (M) and 5,95,563 (C). In the red lined districts Hindus became minority now below the strength of Non-Muslim population there.

Following the path of Muslim dominated Mallapuram district, Kottayam also became a certain Hindu Minority District in Kerala.

As per the recent details published by Department of Economics and statistics, Kerala, out of 19,53,646 population the so called minority Muslims counts for 9,88,057 while the Hindu population is only 9,63,497.

The current demographic trends in Kerala indicate that within the next five years Hindus will become a minority in the land of Sankaracharya (Kerala). As per recent census, Kerala population is: Hindus 56.20 per cent. Muslims 26.7 per cent and Christians 20.90 per cent. But the joint effort of the Muslims and Christians to end the Hindu majority and hold in Kerala to make a Kashimr or Nagaland in the certain parts of the state has been speeding up gradually since the declaration of Mallapuram as the first Muslim majority district in India in 1969. More over, the area wise increase of Muslims and Christians and the decrease of Hindus in Kerala in general is a dangerous threat to so called secular and democratic atmosphere in Kerala. Once Hindus become a minority, Hindu slaughter will begin like in Kashmir and Nagaland. Keralite Hindus cannot stop it in Kerala alone if the others Hindus in every Indian state do not retaliate and restrict the Jihad and Evangelization in Kerala just now. Yes, now or never. We should support the Hindu cause in Kerala.

A Siberian court has thrown out a petition that sought to ban a translation of the Bhagavad Gita as “extremist” literature.

Judge Galina Butenko of the Leninsky District Court in Tomsk ruled on Wednesday that there were no grounds for recognising Bhagavad Gita As It Isas extremist because the book was “one of the interpretations of the sacred Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita.”

The defence side said it was fully satisfied with the court verdict.

“This court decision shows that Russia is indeed becoming a democratic society,” said lawyer Alexander Shakhov, who represented at the trial the local branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

India’s Ambassador to Russia Ajai Malhotra, who had fiercely opposed the trial, welcomed the court ruling.

“The verdict of the Honourable Judge in Tomsk in dismissing the case pertaining to the Bhagavad Gita deserves to be applauded,” said the envoy. “It is very nice to see that this issue has been conclusively resolved and is now behind us.”

State prosecutors had filed the petition against Bhagavad Gita As It Is, claiming it sowed “social hatred” and called for “violence against non-believers.” The case was built on expert testimony from local professors of philosophy and philology, who said the book expresses religious hatred and discriminates on the basis of gender, race, nationality and language. Prosecutors offered no comment as they left the court after the verdict.

“We are happy that the court showed reason and competence in passing the correct verdict,” said Sergei Zuyev, vice-president of ISKCON in Russia. “It is not right for secular courts to try religions.” On the eve of Wednesday’s hearing, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna had summoned the Russian Ambassador in New Delhi, Alexander Kadakin, asking the Russian government to provide all possible help to resolve the issue.

Russia’s Human Rights Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin welcomed the court decision. “I think the Russian government must draw the right conclusions from this incident. It should fight terrorism by exposing terrorist plots and outfits, not by passing judgment on ancient sacred scriptures,” he said.

The case against the book had been filed on the basis of the 2002 Russian anti-extremism law, criticised in Russia for its very loose definition of extremist activity. Human rights activists said the law had been used to suppress legitimate criticism of authorities. The Russian Christian Orthodox Church has also been accused of using the law as a tool to fight “non-traditional religions”, such as Scientology, Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Hare Krishna movement in Russia.

In a particularly bizarre case, a court in Rostov Region two years ago accused Leo Tolstoy of extremism for his denunciation of the Russian Orthodox Church teaching as “a crafty and evil lie” and “a concoction of gross superstition and witchcraft.” Tolstoy was expelled from the Church nine years before his death for his repudiation of Jesus Christ and the Russian Church.

MOSCOW/NEW DELHI: The joke goes that the Biblical saying ‘the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak’ translates in Russian as ‘the vodka is good, the meat bad’. Acknowledging that much is lost in translation, a Siberian court on Wednesday refused to ban a translated version of the Bhagwad Gita, saying prosecutors’ fears that it promoted “social discord” were unfounded.

The ministry of external affairs welcomed the verdict as a “sensible resolution of a sensitive issue”.

The case in a court in Tomsk city for the past six months was against Iskcon’s version of the Gita, but it was troubling in many parts of the world, particularly because the text, regarded as philosophical and sacred, was being branded “extremist”. Prosecutors argued that the Russian edition of ‘Bhagavad Gita As It Is’ promoted hatred towards non-believers.

The external affairs ministry welcomed the Russian court’s rejection of a plea to ban a translation of the Bhagwad Gita, a day after foreign minister S M Krishna registered India’s protest with Russian envoy Alexander Kadakin.

“This demonstrates yet again that the people of India and Russia have a deep understanding of each other’s cultures and will always reject any attempt to belittle our common civilizational values…we appreciate this sensible resolution of a sensitive issue and are glad to put this episode behind us. We also appreciate the efforts of all friends in Russia who made this outcome possible,” a statement from the ministry said. “We have won the case. The judge has rejected the petition,” Sadhu Priya Das of ISKCON, Moscow, who is also chairman of newly-formed Hindu Council of Russia, said. Russian lawyers Mikahil Fralov and Alexander Shakhov argued strongly against the petition. “This judge’s decision shows that Russia is becoming a truly democratic society,” Shakhov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.

The prosecutors had appealed to the Tomsk court to put ‘Bhagavad Gita As It Is’ on the Russian Federal List of Extremist Materials, which bans more than 1,000 texts, including Adolf Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ and books distributed by the Jehovah’s Witness and Scientology movements.

The case had stalled Parliament proceedings last week. Krishna called in the Russian ambassador Kadakin on Tuesday to register India’s protest and sought Russian government’s intervention. In a statement issued, Indian ambassador to Russia Ajai Malhotra said, “The verdict of the Honourable Judge in Tomsk in dismissing the case pertaining to Bhagavad Gita deserves to be applauded.”

Mumbai | Wed, Dec 21, 2011 at 20:00 | Source : PTI : Bombay High Court today asked Government of India (GOI) to consider the option of the country being represented before a court in Russia to defend the Bhagwad Gita, the holy Hindu scripture which is facing a ban there.

A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Roshan Dalvi also asked the Centre to inform the court about what action it has initiated to monitor the issue on the next date of hearing on January 9 next.

The court was hearing a public interest litigation seeking the government’s intervention in the case before the Russian court where a ban on Bhagwad Gita has been demanded. The petitioners have quoted newspaper reports that a ban has been sought on Gita in a Tomsk courtin Siberia dubbing it as a literature spreading social discord.

Beni Chatterji, counsel for the Central government, informed the court that S M Krishna, Minister of External Affairs, had made a statement that the ministry is monitoring the case. M I Sethna, counsel for the petitioners, however, said that the government is just monitoring and has asked Iskcon to defend the literature there.

“It is a grave insult to our culture. Instead of asking Iskcon to defend, the government should defend the Gita,” Sethna said. The PIL states that Gita is a sacred text and attempts to ban it would have far-reaching implications not only in India but also internationally. It contends that the subject concerned not just the Indians in Russia, but had world-wide significance.

Any failure on Indian government’s part to intervene, supported by in-depth research, scholastic views and analysis, would cause irretrievable damage to the country’s and rich culture and heritage, the petition contends.

Bhagavad Gita ban: Outrage grows as sales soar.

New Delhi | Wed, Dec 21, 2011 at 20:00 | Source : PTI : The outrage continues to grow against possible banning of Hindu’s holy scripture Bhagavad Gita in Russia. The proposed ban of Gita in Russia has ignited protest on the social media even as trial verdict nears.

Amidst the demand of the Opposition for declaring the holy scripture as the National Book, scores of netizens took to Twitter to express their shock and anger.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar commented on Twitter: “Banning Bhagavad Gita in Russia is an unpardonable loss for the people of Russia.”

“The move to ban ‘Bhagavad Gita’ shows intolerance; it is intolerance that is the reason for terrorism and not ‘Bhagavad Gita,” he tweeted.

“Bhagavad Gita begins with word Dharma n ends with Mama. Entire Gita is nothing but Mama Dharma (My Dharma); that which uplifts life,” his tweets read.

Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar expressed his shock over the Gita facing ban in Russia. “Banning Gita ? Have they lost their minds. This great book of wisdom belongs not only to Hindus but to the whole humanity,” he tweeted.

His tweet was followed by comments like: “Please read Gita so you don’t misquote it.”

MP Naveen Jindal also took to the social media in expressing his views on the recent controversy. “I welcome the statement by the Russian ambassador to India condemning the Bhagavad Gita controversy.”

JD leader Subramanian Swamy wrote on Twitter: “Happy to inform that Russian Ambassador will tell my daughter on TV that he is a student of Gita and Russia will rectify matters soon. Ok?”

Bollywood celebrity, Farah Ali Khan also retweeted: “The Russians have banned the Gita. In retaliation let’s ban something equally sacrosanct to them: vodka.”

More than 20,000 people signed an online petition against the trial and the word Gita continued to be at the top of Indian trends on Twitter on Wednesday.

Book sales go up

The controversy surrounding the Gita ban has been proving blessing in disguise for the publishers of the book. The holy book has notched up steady sales through the year.

Booksellers have witnessed a small rise in the sales since the controversy erupted late last week

Hindu American community outraged

The Hindu American community has expressed shock and outrage over a recent attempt to ban the Bhagavad Gita in Russia.

“The actions of Russian prosecutors are indefensible and represent a draconian attempt to restrict the religious freedom of Hindus in Russia,” said Mr Suhag Shukla, Managing Director of the Washington-based Hindu American Foundation (HAF). (<read here HAF news on protest).

“By promoting a narrow and intolerant agenda that demonises a sacred scripture revered by more than one billion Hindus worldwide, Russian officials are acting contrary to the principles of a free democratic society,” he said.

Members of the Hindu American Foundation have formally presented their concerns to Russian embassy officials in Washington, DC and requested a meeting to further address the situation.

“We urge the Russian judiciary and government to uphold the basic rights of their Hindu citizens,” said Mr Jay Kansara, HAF’s Washington, DC-based associate director.

“Any court ruling or law that would prohibit the Bhagavad Gita or any other Hindu religious literature would be considered a direct attack on the civil liberties of Russia’s Hindu community and an affront to Hindus throughout the world,” he said.

Krishna assures to talk to Russian govt

Parliament witnessed uproar on Tuesday following the outrage over banning of Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita in Russia after a group linked to the Christian Orthodox Church described the holy book as ‘extremist’.

In the wake of the uproar over a move to ban Bhagavad Gita in Russia, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna made a statement in Parliament saying India is in talks with the Russia over the ban issue.

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday demanded that the Bhagvad Gita should be declared a national book in the backdrop of a move to ban the holy scripture in Siberia.

Sushma’s statement came after External Affairs Minister SM Krishna told Parliament that India had registered its protest to the Russian government on a petition seeking a ban on Bhagavad Gita in a Siberian Court. (With PTI inputs).

Chandigarh: Wed, Dec 21, 2011 : Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged protests and opposed the Russian demand to ban Bhagvad Gita in Russian territory.

The protesters demanded that the central government should take initiative in the matter and ensure that the Hindu sentiments are not hurt in Russia and worldwide. VHP and Bajrang Dal workers protested outside the ISKCON temple in Sector 36 on Tuesday afternoon.

Chandigarh in charge of Bajrang Dal and Punjab state vice president of VHP Naresh Arora said the Holy Scripture preaches peace to the world and is one of the most pious scriptures of Hindu religion; it is a shame to brand it as an extremist literature. He further said that the issue will be raised in the Parlianment.

Bhagvad gita and Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf are likely to be included in the Russian Judicial Ministry’s list of banned extremist literature. A Tomsk court in Siberia was scheduled to deliver the final verdict on Monday but it suspended its verdict till December 28 on the demand for banning Bhagvad Gita.

The Bhagvad Gita is a holy Hindu scripture where Lord Krishna preaches to the followers. It also considered a great piece of literature in philosophical studies. It is an important part of the Indian epic Mahabharata.

In Mumbai Hundreds of Supporters of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Janagruti Sanithi protested today over the attempt on Gita ban in a Russian Court.

New Delhi : Wed, Dec 21, 2011 : The Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) on Tuesday warned of agitations outside Russian offices in the country if any ban is imposed on Bhagwad Gita by a court in Siberia hearing a case regarding the sacred religious text.

VHP’s International Working President Pravin Togadia in a statement demanded immediate dismissal of the case in Tomsk city and prosecution against those who dared to make an “obnoxious” challenge against the religious scripture revered so highly by “Bharat’s majority.”

Togadia claimed that the move against Gita in Russia was aimed to divert public attention from the real local issues there.

Togadia also said there would be agitations against the Government of India if any ban by the Siberian court goes unchallenged.

“Bhagavad Gita is not just a book but is (God) for the Krishna devotees and all Hindus,” VHP international Working President Pravin Togadia said in a statement.

“The principles taught in the Gita are universal and touch humanity so very deeply,” he said, adding that even Albert Einstein was influenced by the holy book.

He warned that if the Gita was banned in Russia, then Indians would be forced to protest against Russian goods, as well as Russian plants and offices.

Bhagavad Gita faces ‘extremist’ branding, ban in Russia.

MOSCOW: Bhagavad Gita, one of the holiest Hindu scriptures, is facing a legal ban and the prospect of being branded as “an extremist” literature across Russia. A court in Siberia’s Tomsk city is set to deliver its final verdict Monday in a case filed by state prosecutors.

The final pronouncement in the case will come two days after Indian Prime MinisterManmohan Singh during his Dec 15-17 official visit for a bilateral summit with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev consolidated bilateral trade and strategic ties and personal friendship.

The case, which has been going on in Tomsk court since June, seeks ban on a Russian translation of “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” written by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

It also wants the Hindu religious text banned in Russia and declared as a literature spreading “social discord”, its distribution on Russian soil rendered illegal.

In view of the case, Indians settled in Moscow, numbering about 15,000, and followers of the ISKCON religious movement here have appealed to Manmohan Singh and his government to intervene diplomatically to resolve the issue in favour of the scripture, an important part of Indian epic Mahabharata written by sage Ved Vyas.

The ISKCON followers in Russia have also written a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi, calling for immediate intervention, lest the religious freedom of Hindus living here be compromised.

“The case is coming up for a final verdict on Monday in Tomsk court. We want all efforts from the Indian government to protect the religious rights of Hindus in Russia,” Sadhu Priya Das of ISKCON and a devotee of a 40-year-old Krishna temple in central Moscow, told IANS.

The court, which took up the case filed by the state prosecutors, had referred the book to the Tomsk State University for “an expert” examination Oct 25.

But Hindu groups in Russia, particularly followers of ISKCON, say the university was not qualified as it lacked Indologists who study the history and cultures, languages, and literature of the Indian subcontinent.

The Hindus pleaded with the court that the case was inspired by religious bias and intolerance from a “majority religious group in Russia”, and have sought that their rights to practice their religious beliefs be upheld.

The prosecutor’s case also seeks to ban the preachings of Prabhupada and ISKCON’s religious beliefs, claiming these were “extremist” in nature and preached “hatred” of other religious beliefs.

“They have not just tried to get the Bhagavad Gita banned, but also brand our religious beliefs and preachings as extremist,” Das said.

The ISKCON devotees have taken up the matter with the Indian embassy in Moscow too for an early diplomatic intervention before things get worse and the court passes an adverse verdict banning the Bhagavad Gita and Krishna consciousness teachings.

In the Nov 1 letter addressed to Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Pulok Chatterji, ISKCON’s New Delhi branch Governing Body Commissioner Gopal Krishna Goswami, said the prosecutor’s affidavit claims Lord Krishna “is evil and not conforming to Christian religious view”.

Goswami also urged Manmohan Singh to accord priority to the matter during his Moscow stay and take it up with the Russian authorities.

Indian diplomatic corps officials at the embassy here, who were unwilling to be named, told IANS that they have been following up the case since the time it was brought to their notice earlier this year.

They had also taken up the matter at the appropriate levels in the Russian government to get the case either withdrawn or get the defence to fight the case to obtain a favourable verdict.

Officials at the Indian Prime Minister’s Office, who were part of the Indian delegation accompanying Manmohan Singh, confirmed to IANS the case and the letter they received from ISKCON in this regard.

“This matter is receiving the highest attention and the Indian embassy officials in Moscow have been instructed to follow up the case with the Russian authorities,” they said.

Communal Violence Bill 2011: His Holiness Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi urges Hindus to fight ultimately.

Tiruvanthapuram : 21 Nov. 2011 || Hindu Existence & IBTL presentation : His Holiness, the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth, Swami Jayendra Saraswathi has called for the one billion strong Hindus of India to stand and fight against the proposed Communal Violence Bill draft. His holiness was speaking at the meeting of the delegates of various Hindu organisations as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Temple Entry Proclamation. The event was organised by the Hindu Aikyavedi at Tiruvanthapuram. The year-long platinum jubilee celebrations were inaugurated by His Royal Highness, Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma, head of the royal family of Travancore.

Speaking on the occassion, His Holiness said that the bill is an attempt to destroy the unity of Hindus and all must fight against it. His Holiness also spoke about the social reformer Sree Narayan Guru. His Holiness said that the state and the Hindu community at large ows a lot to him. Shree Narayan Guru’s fight against untouchability and other inequalities helped the community to remain united.

On this occasion, Kesari editor J Nandakumar also delivered a talk on the proposed Communal Violence Bill. He emphasized that the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill 2011 was aimed at splitting the Hindu community.

Other talks delivered in the meeting included one by Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha general secretary N K Vasudevan who spoke on Justice Ranganathan Commission report and another by Aikyavedi state secretary Brahmachari Bhargavaram who talked about ‘Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Kerala Temples’.

It was an important conglomeration for Hindu community. Around 110 leaders of 61 Hindu organisations attended the leadership meet held as part of the function.
