Saffronized Bengal is now overwhelmed with Sri Sri Ramnavami this year.

VHP organizes Two thousand Ramnavami processions this year across Bengal, but the number of such programs will surpass all records for huge Hindu response from all corners. 

Aditi Mondal | HENB | Kolkata | March 28, 2023:: This year, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is organizing around 2000 small, medium, and big processions across Bengal on the occasion of Ram Navami on March 30 to boost up the Hindutva fervor in the state.

The numbers of such Ramnavami processions and Sri Ram Pujan may be doubled in this year as apart from VHP, the programmes are being arranged by many other Hindu organizations like Hindu Jagran Manch, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, Hindu Milan Mandir (Bharat Sevashram Sangha), Bongiya Hindu Sena, Sanyukta Hindu Front, and many other local Ram Navami Udjapon Samiti or even in joint collaborations of many organizations and clubs. The number of such Ramnavami celebrations may cross the mark of 5000, as per least estimation.

In this context, Sachindranath Singh, All India Joint Secretary of VHP, said that the whole society is trying to follow the ideals of Lord  Ramchandra and His principles of sacrifice and patriotism. That is why Ram Mohotsav will be celebrated all over the country from March 30 to April 6 Hanuman Jayanti. We never talk about marching with weapons. Armed marches are organized by ordinary people locally, depending on the place, time and situation. the central or state leadership has not given any instructions on whether weapons will be displayed in this program or not. We have no say in this matter.

Singh said that VHP is a social organization. It has nothing to do with politics. VHP strives to spread Indianness through various services and social works.

As per VHP’s planning, Ramnavami processions have been initiated in every city and block level. 1500 marches will be organized in South Bengal and 150 in North Bengal. The guidelines were sent to all district committees in this regard.  If processions cannot be organized, Ramnavami should be celebrated in temples or monasteries. If somehow that cannot be done, people will arrange programme  in any house for worshipping the image of Lord Ram and Sita Mata along with the picture of Ram Mandir being built in Ayodhya.

BJP leader and leader of opposition in WB assembly, Suvendhu Adhikari, slammed the TMC for announcing protest programmes against the Centre’s policies on 30 March, the day Ram Navami will be celebrated, saying those who believe in the ‘Sanatan culture’ will celebrate Lord Ram’s birth anniversary.

The TMC has announced two-day protests in the state on 29 and 30 March in which WB CM Mamata Banerjee is supposed to join in a sit-in-protest in a Kolkata venue.

But, major parts of Bengal have been decorated with saffron flags, posters and festoons. saffronized Bengal is now overwhelmed with Ramnavami this year.
