Importance on Satsang: VHP leaders emphasise need for Bal Sanskar Kendras; calls for Promoting service, values & Youth Empowerment.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Bhopal | Sept 1, 2026:: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) held a two-day Akhil Bharatiya meeting of its Satsang Department in Bhopal on August 30 and 31, bringing together around 150 volunteers from 43 provinces across the country to discuss ways to expand satsang activities and strengthen value-based social initiatives.

The meeting was inaugurated in the presence of Mahant 1008 Shri Ram Pravesh Das Ji Maharaj of Gufa Mandir, VHP Central Organising General Secretary Milind Ji Parande, Joint General Secretary Koteshwar Ji Sharma, Central Secretary Basant Ji Rath and Central Joint Secretary Mahendra Dada Vedak.

The meeting was organised as part of the birth centenary year celebrations of late VHP leader Ashok Singhal, with discussions focusing on strengthening the organisation’s satsang network and expanding its activities at the grassroots level.

Focus on Bal Sanskar Kendras

Addressing the gathering, VHP leaders emphasised the importance of establishing Bal Sanskar Kendras, or value-based centres for children, along with service centres through satsang programmes at every district headquarters across the country.

The organisation stressed that satsang should serve not merely as a platform for religious discourse, but also as a means of nurturing values, social responsibility and community participation. The proposed Bal Sanskar Kendras are intended to help impart cultural and value-based education among children and strengthen their connection with Dharma and social responsibilities.

The meeting also discussed expanding the network of satsang centres and enhancing their role in promoting service-oriented activities across the country.

Employment and Youth Engagement

The VHP further emphasised that satsang centres should work within communities to encourage employment opportunities and social development. Particular emphasis was placed on engaging young people in constructive activities and encouraging a drug-free youth.

According to the organisation’s approach discussed at the meeting, youth empowerment, social service and value-based activities should form an integral part of grassroots satsang initiatives.

The participants also deliberated on strengthening social-service programmes and creating a wider network through which volunteers can contribute to community welfare.

Dharma Charcha, Temple Management and Gau Seva

The VHP stressed the importance of Dainik Dharma Charcha—daily religious discussion, reflection and practice at the individual and family levels—as one of the key elements of what it described as Dharma Pravah, or the advancement of righteous living.

The organisation also identified Mandir Jirnoddhar and Vyavasthapan (temple renovation and management) and Gau Seva (cow service, reverence and protection) as important components of its religious and social activities.

The meeting called for these initiatives to be implemented effectively and systematically across the country. Programmes will be undertaken at various levels to ensure their proper execution and to strengthen participation in Dharma-oriented activities.

Expanding the Satsang Network

The two-day deliberations are expected to provide a framework for expanding the VHP’s Satsang Department and strengthening its activities at the district and community levels.

With volunteers participating from 43 provinces, the meeting placed emphasis on creating a wider grassroots network centred on values, Dharma, service, youth engagement and social responsibility.

The VHP leadership called for coordinated efforts to take these programmes across the country, with satsang centres envisioned as platforms for spiritual awareness, cultural education, community service and the development of socially responsible citizens.

VHP Foundation Day on Janmasthami

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will hold more than 10,000 programmes across the country to celebrate its Foundation Day on Janmashtami.

The VHP was founded in 1964 at Sandipani Ashram in Bombay (now Mumbai) on Janmashtami Day, under the guidance of the second RSS chief, Guruji M. S. Golwalkar. The organisation was established as an umbrella platform for hundreds of Hindu sects, with the aim of fostering greater religious solidarity among Hindus and strengthening Hindu Dharma.
