Hindu Sena Demands Immediate Revocation of Hamid Ansari’s Padma Shri Over National Security and Anti-Hindu Allegations.

Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | New Delhi | Sept 21, 2026:: Former Vice President of India and Padma awardee Hamid Ansari has recently drawn criticism over remarks concerning right-wing organisations, in which he reportedly compared them with communists while referring to observations made by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Earlier, Ansari’s remarks concerning the RSS, BJP and Hindu nationalism had also triggered political controversy. On a previous occasion, Ansari had reportedly said that living in India was becoming increasingly difficult for Muslims under BJP rule.

Now, the Hindu Sena has formally submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding the immediate revocation of the Padma Shri awarded to former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.

In an official statement released on Monday, Hindu Sena National President Vishnu Gupta raised serious concerns over Ansari’s past conduct and recent public statements. The organisation asserted that continuing to honour him would undermine the sanctity of the country’s civilian awards.

The organisation cited several grounds for its demand:

Allegations of Compromising National Security

Citing public disclosures, including claims made by Pakistani journalist Nusrat Mirza regarding access allegedly granted during Ansari’s tenure, as well as allegations previously raised by former intelligence officers concerning his diplomatic tenure in Iran, Hindu Sena highlighted what it described as serious concerns relating to national security and intelligence interests.

Allegations of Anti-Hindu and Anti-National Rhetoric

Hindu Sena also condemned what it described as Ansari’s recent public remarks targeting the Hindu majority and right-wing ideology. The organisation alleged that such statements damage India’s image on international platforms and undermine social harmony.

Sanctity of Civilian Honours

Hindu Sena emphasised that prestigious civilian awards such as the Padma Shri are intended to recognise individuals for distinguished service to the nation. The organisation argued that such honours should be reconsidered when serious allegations concerning national security and conduct are raised against an awardee.

Speaking on the matter, Hindu Sena National President Vishnu Gupta said:

“The highest constitutional offices demand absolute allegiance to the nation’s integrity and cultural heritage.

Given the grave allegations of compromising national security and the repeated targeting of the Hindu community, Hamid Ansari has forfeited the moral right to hold one of India’s highest civilian honours. We urge the Union Home Ministry to immediately revoke his Padma Shri and order a high-level inquiry into these matters.”

Hindu Sena has called upon the Ministry of Home Affairs to initiate the process for revocation of the award and establish a high-level independent inquiry into the allegations concerning the former Vice President.
