Express News Service | Ahmedabad | August 3, 2014:: Supreme Court judge Justice Anil R Dave Saturday said that had he been a dictator, he would have made the Gita and the Mahabharata compulsory in Class I in schools.
Speaking as the chief guest at a conference on ‘contemporary issues and challenges of human rights in the era of globalisation’ at Gujarat University’s convention hall, Justice Dave said, “Had I been the dictator of India, I would have introduced Gita and Mahabharata in Class I. That is the way you learn how to live life. I am sorry if somebody says I am secular or I am not secular. But we have to get good things from everywhere.”
“Our old tradition such as guru-shishya parampara (teacher-student tradition) is lost; if it had been there, we would not have had all these problems in our country,” he said, referring to the problem of violence and terrorism.
“Now we see terrorism in countries. Most of the countries are democratic. If everybody in a democratic country is good, then they would naturally elect somebody who is very good. And that person will never think of damaging anybody else,” he said as he recited the famous Sanskrit saying: “Yatha raja tatha praja (The subject reflects the king).”
At the conference, organised by the Gujarat Law Society, Justice Dave recited several verses from the Gita and other ancient scriptures, and added that a balance needs to be struck while dealing with violence and issues of human rights.
“We would never violate any person’s right if we stick to our ancient scriptures,” Justice Dave said. Other speakers at the conference included justice (retired) C K Thakkar and Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Mohit Shah.

Darshan Desai | Daily Mail | New Delhi | August 2, 2014:: Justice A.R. Dave of the Supreme Court on Saturday sparked a controversy after asserting that he wished the Bhagwad Gita and the Mahabharata were taught from Class I onwards in India.
“Somebody who is very secular, [rather] so-called secular, will not agree. Had I been the dictator of India, I would have introduced the Gita and the Mahabharata in Class I. That is the way you learn how to live life,” Justice Dave said.
Addressing an international conference on ‘Contemporary Issues and Challenges of Human Rights in the Era of Globalisation’ organised by the Gujarat Law Society in Ahmedabad, Dave said Indians should return to ancient traditions.
“Our old tradition like guru-shishya parampara (teacher-student tradition) is lost. If it had been there, we would not have had all these problems [of violence and terrorism] in our country,” Dave said.
“Now we see terrorism in countries. By bringing [out] all the good things in every human, we can stop violence everywhere. And for that purpose, we have to revert to our own things [traditions and scriptures] again,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bombay High Court Chief Justice Mohit Shah, who was also one of the speakers, said that “development for all” should be the core value behind globalisation”.
Justice Mohit Shah said: “The concept of global village should not mean that everybody is just thinking about the world, but it should also be about expanding functions of development for all.
HOW TO MAKE A DHARMA RASHTRA: The importance of the teaching of Shrimadbhagavad Gita is immense as indicated by Sri A.R. Dave, an eminent justice of the Supreme Court of India. It adores the highest truth and his intention to spread the Dharma Sikshan in the basic level is most welcome. Gita imparts us the making of individual as well the Nation as a whole. It teaches us the duties upon us and how to render it flawlessly. And these direction is supreme as Gita is propounded the supreme soul Shri Krishna Himself.
There are two specific duty bound works as exhorted by Sri Bhagawan to establish a Dharma Rashtra. Nothing more than that. Think whenever we fall in the series of critical situation, His suggestion is only two to do. No. 1: Paritranay Sadhunam, means to rescue the righteous persons. The part of cultivation of Dharma, Shastra and the Dharmiks. It sustains the Brahmatejas and ‘Divinity already in Man’. and No. 2: Vinashay ca Duskrutam, means destroy all the evils from the root. Keep in mind, not only destroy, but destroy from the root of all evil forces against Dharma. It sustains the Khstratejas in oneself. To encourage and fight on the strength of Warrior Spirit.
If we do only these Two Works assigned by the Jagadguru (Krusnam Vande Jagadhurum!) Sri Bhagawan, the Dharma Rashtra, i.e. Hindu Rashtra will be automatically established very soon (within 2025).
The reasonable combination or the Synthesis of Brahmatejas and Khstratejas is the only way of emancipation. We must remember the last shloka of Srimad Bhagabadgita. It is “Yatra Yogesvarah Krsno Yatra Partho Dhanur-dharah | Tatra Shrir Vijayo Bhutir Dhruva Nitir Matir Mama ||” ~ means, Wherever there is Krsna, the master mentor of all mystic yogic knowledge, and wherever there is Arjuna, the great warrior and the supreme archer, there will also certainly be opulence, victory, extraordinary power, and morality. That is my opinion.
Yes, my opinion of emancipation lies in the Establishment of Hindu Rashtra in Bharat within 2025. Plz do this Sadhana. Jayatu Jayatu Hindu Rashtram. ~ Upananda Brahmachari.
